Finally got into my lesser used Chanel tote! I’m traveling for 3 days and managed to scrunch everything inside. LOL! That means I only have the one pair of shoes I’m wearing and this one bag. But it’s a causal trip to see family. And, I can’t wear heels for a few more weeks because of my broken toe / preop knee / bone spur toe. LOL! So it’s ok!

This did make me crave a good black tote though. Thanks to @ksuromax for giving me a pm heads up on a potential candidate. :flowers:

In that case, how about "enabling" me on this bag? :amuse:

Note: I'm mostly kidding. But I got an email about it this morning, and I can't stop looking at the pix on the BV web site. Yummy colors, and the bag would be the perfect size for me. Love the mix of metallics. And the woven leather strap. I wonder how heavy it is? I wonder how much it would hold? I wonder if the strap is adjustable?

Ugh. I wonder why I'm even THINKING about it, since I'm on a total bag ban? :annoyed:

This is interesting but having you made the decision you felt better and that is the affirmation of a correct choice.

6 years for many in tPF are good innings and would be pleased if they had a bag for that long. Perhaps to you (like me) six years still feels like new.

4 years ago I sold lots of 'extra' bags, nearly all bought vintage or purchased new in teenage years (I seemed to be really big on beads and embellishment). Boxes full. Now it's getting harder to cull. I have to check constantly that the bag I want is better than or at least different to anything I already have.

I’m still a bit on the fence about it, TBH. As background, I used to have three all-leather Garden Parties. I’m still not quite sure how I ended up with that many of a bag that never quite worked perfectly for me! Last year, I sold one because the color no longer appealed to me. So now I have two, this one in Gold and another in Rouge H. Since I’ve been walking around on a bum knee, weight and comfort of bags has become increasingly important, and with the GPs, I realize that it’s become a bad combination: I use them when I have a lot to carry, and then find they’re too heavy to carry by hand and not comfortable over my shoulder.

I’m still struggling a bit because Hermes Gold is “classic” and versatile and may be rested right now. And the GP is a great, under the radar but still obviously high quality bag. But I also have to acknowledge that I pulled the bag out yesterday to really decide and my instant reaction was, “meh.”

I’ve always loved bags but wasn’t into “collecting” and super high-end brands until around 2011. So, many of my bags were bought after that time. I’ve never bought with the intention to sell, but I like having the option in case my tastes change or a bag no longer works for me. I figure when I find myself consistently reaching for Longchamp nylon over Hermes leather, that’s a sure sign that something isn’t working!

well, all rules have exceptions, and that's the case now
Piazza is not up my alley
I don't like it in any size
I have seen it irl in Cobalt, i still didn't like it although i love Cobalt
in my VERY humble opinion this is not quite BV, at least for me, if you remove the intrecciato pattern from the lock, nobody would ever ID this as BV, for me it does not have the spirit of BV, no offense, please
too little room due to split triple compartments, but the base is solid, it means that bag will not stretch to allow you to load it properly.
it's not too heavy (comparing, for example, with Roma), but too heavy for its size due to excess of leather used for all those compartments.
I really like the feel of the leather, and sheen... now you can throw rotten tomatoes at me :D

For me as soon as I say ban I see something or some deal comes along. Try mindful shopping and think if it is really love or looking forward to cooler weather.

When do you give up on selling an item? I’ve had a bag up for sale for 16 months with no interest. I have a brand new SLG that’s been on sale for 8 months. :-s

I’ve reached the rock bottom of what I would like to receive on them. But I’m not excited to bring them back into my collection. The cost of both is too high for me to donate without fainting. And DD hates the bag and already has the exact same SLG.

When do you decide to give up and figure out how to love the item again?

Have you tried getting quotes from online consignment shops like Fashionphile, Yoogis and Ann’s? Maybe they’ll give you a price that you can accept given they then do the work of selling? Just a thought.

Just for a different view, I’ve tried on the Piazza and personally, I LOVE it. I know it’s not traditional BV. I stayed away for BV for years because all it seemed to be (to me) was slouchy hobos and that’s a style that just doesn’t appeal to me. So I’m not a BV purist by a long shot, but as an Hermes fan, craftsmanship is important to me, and the craftsmanship on the Piazza is fantastic. Traditional BV fans may throw tomatoes at me :P but I really like the direction BV is going in, with more defined shapes and hardware. That’s just my personal aesthetic.

The bag isn’t any heavier than a Kelly, if I remember correctly. The interior compartments are one of the reasons I probably will not buy the bag — I really hate dividers in smaller bags, so that’s a no-go for me. Also, it is at the end of the day, BV’s take on the Kelly. I already have 3 Kelly’s so getting a Piazza would be redundant. That said, it is a beautiful, and beautifully constructed bag.

And, Ksuromax is right: the plain strap is adjustable, but the woven strap is not (and is long enough for shoulder wear but not crossbody).

Yes, that's it - it screams to me 'Kelly wanna be'!!!
i understand and like diversity and improvisation on certain classic styles (like Kelly) but this is a very straight forward copy-paste, imho
i like broadening horizons, but, this, IMHO, is OTT
P.S. Tube map is a nice idea for a 100$ seasonal bag, but 6,500$?? Really?

Bans are like diets. As soon as some people start one they start dreaming of what they're might be missing. Personally, I never go on diets and I never put myself on a ban, that's why this thread's good for me because it's more about appreciating what I have already. I always have theoretically but it's also good to put it into practice.

BV fan here but I'm sticking at 5 unless I find a nice stretch knot.
I actually like this bag a lot even though I am a BV hobo fan and for structure or formal usually go elsewhere. This is kinda like a soft kelly-style.
The mix of metallics is tonal which actually brings into line with pops and neutrals.
I really like it doesn't have chains. I have chain bags but they're always moving around in one way or another.
I like the removable strap, could be used for other bags too.
Not sure if I like the hardware (but I can say that about most BV hw tbh)
Not sure about the little gaps in the side (rain?)

Randomly. I had no idea they were resting Gold, that's huge news.

Wow, you had 3!!!???

If the bag was Etoupe would you prefer it? I have a theory that H lovers are divided into Etoupe neutrals and Gold neutrals, hardly ever both.

If you have a RH GP too and you always go for the RH it's understandable. I have the very same 2 colour Bolides (also same size). Gold came first and still gets 10 x more wear but I knew that would be when I bought the RH - it was always partly a 'collector' bag. If I thought meh about the RH I would def sell it. It's my posh Bolide (do US people know what posh means?)

Who else here has/had 3 (or 3 +) same bags? Please say how you arrived at multiples.

There only 2 models of bags I have 3 of. Interestingly both were first designed more than 70 years ago.

H Bolide. I have 3, 2 x 35s and a travel size Web. The travel size is prob closer to the original of 1923. They are basically the only H bag I thought I'd ever want besides a Black Box Kelly. I was partly right, except I'm glad I have the other models too but Bolides are so easy in all respects. Can't think of another to add except as I said to go exotic. They are prob more 'me' than a Kelly but then I've always been drawn to rounded bags.

Gucci BTH are my signature bags (and also rounded). I have 2 Large and one Med. The large is actually closer to the original size. When I wear them I feel like myself and I know what I'm doing with them. Like Bolides they stay organised inside and they also have hand-friendly handles as well as detachable shoulder straps. The bamboo handles are cool in the Summer and warm-up in the Winter. My med is a Bamboo Bold and was always going to be more formal but they always look both a little bit fancy and tough. Like Bolides too, you can dress them up if you want but the design is actually really strong on its own.

I agree, some of these are totally OTT (and $6,500 for the subway bag is insane). The Loop hobo is my favorite (and I think it’s gone up in price since I took this screenshot). Classic shape, a little edgy hardware, a little more structure than most of their other hobos. Right up my alley! Of course, the large is too large and the small is probably too small, but that’s another story ...
