When do you give up on selling an item? I’ve had a bag up for sale for 16 months with no interest. I have a brand new SLG that’s been on sale for 8 months. :-s

I’ve reached the rock bottom of what I would like to receive on them. But I’m not excited to bring them back into my collection. The cost of both is too high for me to donate without fainting. And DD hates the bag and already has the exact same SLG.

When do you decide to give up and figure out how to love the item again?

This made me think.

The bag I’ve owned the longest, I just purchased 4 years ago. I acquired my newest bag last August. None of my bags feel “new”. Maybe because I rotate so much and wear all of them quite a bit? Or maybe I lose that “new” feeling faster than other people?

Thinking about this, I realized, I’m ok with them not feeling new. I just need to feel excited about using a bag because it still fits my style, I still think it’s pretty and I haven’t worn it so much that I’m sick of it. (LOL!) The bag I’ve owned the longest is my Monika Chiang Black Pony Hair Bucket. It also happens to be my least expensive bag. I still love this bag because the pony hair and bucket style makes it very interesting and fun to wear.

But, I’m so done with flipping. I can’t bear to fall out of love with anything else and end up selling. It’s such a pain! So, I have zealously adopted your rule that anything new has to either be better than what I have OR as good as what I have but different in use or look from what I currently have.

If I can remember buying it, it's still new for me ha

Does anyone else carry more often the non favorite bags?
The bags I have no doubt about keeping for ages or forever I find myself not carrying nearly as much as those that I am still on the fence about or still "figuring out" how to best utilize. The question mark bags get all my time and attention and the slam dunk bags get ignored. That's kind of messed up right? Ideally they would all be slam dunks and I would rotate evenly throughout the collection.

There are bags I use for different purposes but if they're not favourites they're going anyway.

You will for a while and then like @Sparkletastic said you'll be able to get back to your certs.

I know what you mean. Some bags we know we will keep forever, so they are safe, but we shouldn't ignore them! Right now I'm doing the "15 bags in 30 days" challenge (I'm on schedule so far), focusing on some of the bags that are on probation. I have about 30 bags in all (some are junky, some are funky, some are special occasion), which is about 5 more than I want/need. But I want to be sure of the ones I let go of, so I'm making them prove their worth to me!!

The only experience like that for me was a Lacroix jacket which went back into my wardrobe.

It got listed because I wasn't sure about the colour on me. If other people don't get it, it makes me feel indignant and sorry for the thing as in "people are philistines, I'll show them, I'll build a season's wardrobe around it".

Doesn't work like that on ex-BFs, I truly think "what was I thinking?"

Mostly if I've chosen to sell, it's going however I get rid of it. You could start with a low minimum. You won't get what you want that's for sure, people who 'watch' are just waiting for bargains or own the same and are also looking to sell.

I had luck when I gave up for a while then resisted with a new photo and it finally went for a bit more then the first time I had it listed .

Bags on my current wishlist:
1. YSL Loulou tote
2. Mulberry tote (Marloes? Or Bayswater?)
3. YSL Cabas or MCM Milla
4. Givenchy Pandora
5. Something Massaccesi in fuchsia pink [emoji7]

The bag I’m carrying today: Massaccesi Angelica in natural calf. I was in JC Raven for Monday and Tuesday. I had to change to a softer bag on Wednesday since I wore a casual floral dress, hence, Gucci Sukey. Then, this today:

Nice bag! What brand is it?
I keep eying the Givenchy Pandora, but I've never seen one in IRL so I wonder about the shape. Have you ever tried one on? What color would you get, if you were to buy one?

@Sparkletastic It’s worth trying with new photos to refresh the listing, but overall I think it depends how much you really want it gone. I’d lower the price or donate it, if it really isn’t selling and I didn’t want to try and learn to love it again. But personally I’m usually of a mind that once I’ve decided I don’t want something - that’s it. I’m over it and no going back.
