So, my carefree bump around bag came in and I'm very happy with it. It's the Rebecca Minkoff Isobel Satchel. View attachment 3737077
I really needed a top zip, leather, convertible satchel that is roomy, "quiet" on branding and in personality and a little slouchy for low profile on my body. Plus, I was inspired by @dcooney's new carefree bags to keep the cost of the bag low. I found this brand new for $100 which is 70% off!

I'd read a lot of negatives about RM and was a little apprehensive. My big worry was that the leather would feel plasticky or cheap. But it's very nice - certainly better than the price I paid would suggest. And I don't see any obvious places for performance failure (poorly attached handles, etc.)

I like that - other than the zipper - it has black hardware. I think that helps the bag look a little more expensive. View attachment 3737079 The only two things I don't like are that the base of the bag is a little too unstructured so it could sag and the tassel hangs oddly when the shoulder strap is used. I'll just get a cheapy bag shaper or bag organizer for the sag and cut off the tassel and tie it through the handle hardware. Easy peasy!View attachment 3737083
And since I am loving @msd_bags new strap, I have to find one for this bag. I think it would be perfect to dress it up a bit. But, since the strap will likely cost more than the bag, I need to get one that will also work on my new Fendi and maybe even my black PS Small Courier. I don't think I have any other bags that would look good with a new strap.

So, anyway, this is a perfect carefree bag. I won't count it in my collection but I'll be very glad to have it when I need a bag that I can't baby. :happydance:
This is a great carefree bag, Sparkle! It looks roomy, and the black on black is really a great combo.
wearing one of my recently acquired H scarves, feels so right for my job... :D
It looks so right too, ksuromax! Beautiful!

Congrats on your Rm bag. I still have a small Rm bag from a few years ago and the quality is very good as was the Julian backpack I had from them.

I don't think there is a thread on this. There are the more expensive ones like Fendi, Valentino and Anya Hindmarch (not sure if they have some on sale). Then you have Rebecca Minkoff, Kate Spade and Michael by Michael Kors. But you have to check if the length suits you as most are non-adjustable. Then, I recently came across local sellers here advertising that they have Piumelli straps from Italy. I checked its website just now and I only found 1 design available for 49 euros. Here, they are selling it for close to $140.

Very interesting!

I will look at Anya Hindmarch. The problem I see with AH is that the clips on the ends look huge. V and F are either just a bit too fancy or not the right colour combos but maybe they'll bring something out since they're so popular. I just one one versatile strap.

I already have a few (removable) straps from Gucci that came with their various bags but these are med width and fairly 'utilty'. I think I want either a wide, interesting strap so it looks meant, or a narrow so it's not particularly visible.

My first thought is to find a strap that works with my Rouge H (dark red) Bolide. I've used the one from my other Bolide (perfect length of course) just not sure about the colour (which is H Gold (basically tan).

Hermes are bringing a range of stand alone straps out shortly but I'm sure these will be stupid prices. Even a new thin leather or wide canvas strap from H is ridiculous.

I do need to distract myself. And something that would point to my wardrobe would be a good idea. But other then fine jewelry and sunnies, I don't really wear accessories. And I've bought most of the fine jewelry and al the sunnies I planned to buy this year.

I need a battle plan for my wardrobe like when I had my list of bags to buy. I tried to make a list of things I want / need starting with a capsule wardrobe. But I didn't find much on line to help since I prefer the foundation of my wardrobe to be dresses v separates.

But no excuses. I need to make a list. That will make shopping easier. Right now my wardrobe reboot just feels like I'm on a foggy road to somewhere. :confused1: I have 20% great pieces and 80% needs to go. But I can't be naked :oh: so I have to do this a little at a time.
What kind of pieces are you looking for and in what colors?

You're so right, I hate the return process. I used to enjoy and look forward to long hours of shopping, even just wandering and window shopping, but not anymore. It's nice of you to go with your sister.

So long as we're not going to M&S she's good to go shopping with ha ha. We have fun. I think shopping is a lot of fun when I'm not looking for anything in particular

Love your scarf!!

Thanks :ty:
yes, i do, for some time i even worked ON ships...

Ooh, that's cool!

I like to wear dresses more, but they don't dress as much in the office. So I am usually in slacks.

I'm trying to embrace our casual attire now (we were business attire before) so I'm trying to wear more dresses at work lol.

It's so weird. It was weird to wear skirts every day, when I used to wear slacks.

Now my new normal is skirts and people are shocked when I wear slacks haha.

I feel when I'm looking for specific items, I can never find them.

But if I'm always browsing, I'll find it faster than a focused search lol. And it'll be more fun.

This is usually why I'm always shopping. [emoji28]

Since we're discussing more shopping:

What is on everyone's shopping list? Then we can help each other!

In my Stylebook thread I shared my wishlist before I go on a shopping ban (and I seriously hope that this thread helps next year instead of encouraging more shopping haha)

I'm looking for dark colored skirts. But not the simple, plain ones. I gotta want to wear this for over a year lol.

Regarding bag straps, lots of brands make them now, but the price points can be crazy.

Fendi, the most popular one with it's beautiful designs.
LV.
Longchamp had two that went on sale, but were shoulder strap length.
Rebecca Minkoff has some, and probably the brand with the most variety.
Kate Spade has some, but the design on the straps left much to be desired imo.
I haven't seen much from MK anymore, do they still have them?
Mark Jacobs and Lowe have some in Nordstrom.
Valentino has some which would complement lots of people's bags here!
Places like TJ Maxx have no brand ones for cheap, which is where I got mine, as I wasn't sure if I'd like a different strap for long.

If there's a specific bag needing a strap, please post and we can all shop for you!

Browsing is the fun part lol.
