Spark,
I think you should get the black for a workhorse as it fits your criteria. We don't necessarily have to love our workhorse. I don't love my new Tom Ford workhorse but I like it. You mentioned great value on resale Market and if it's low enough I would snap it up especially since you have items up for sale.
I'm going to give it a little while. I really like the bag but, I really don't want to get one of my two allotted bags for 2017 the first week of the year. I also don't have any other bags I'm willing to cut to do a one in / one out to justify a third bag for the year because I've already planned replacements for the 6 bags I'm planning to cut over the next few years. And, finally, I really do want to love all my bags -particularly the workhorses because I'll wear them so often. If I had to (and gawd I'm hoping not) I'd rather spend $5000 on a daily use bag I love than $5000 on a date night bag. So, for all these reasons I'm trying to pace myself.

BUT, if I do get this bag at some point in the future, it will have to be an add on. I still need my grey or bordeaux workhorse for color variety.

I have hard rule that I never ever sell Chanel. If you feel uneasy about selling then don't. Nothing worse than rebuying same bag at higher price.
Missie, this rule of yours has become my new rule. Especially since I'm focusing my Chanel collection on getting the now discontinued single flaps and other more rare bags. I need to be certain I love them and will wear them before I buy and they won't go out when DD inherits or (more likely) long term borrows them.

But, ya know. I'm getting this way with all my bags. I need forever bags. I am sick of selling. And I'm not paying premier price points for trendy. So classic shapes, great quality and a true love factor have to be there for me to buy anything ever again.
I have no regrets on any bag I have sold. I agree with you on this.
YAY! We'll keep dithering and deliberating together. I think this thread is helping us be much more careful on the ins and the outs.

Well I bought something! :yahoo:

Wait for it! :giggle:

Prepare to be impressed, amazed and in awe....:p

My makeup bag is on its last legs but I refuse to spend money on SLG's. I like them but think - that's a third of the way to a purse! So I splurged and bought this pouch for a whopping 99 cents on eBay. I'm just hoping for fabric better than tissue paper at that price.

But seriously, I know I'll need to get something a little better than this eventually but why are branded pouches so expensive?? Can someone please ask the handbag fairy to put a fuchsia Chanel pouch similar to this under my pillow? Are there good quality, inexpensive, non saffiano pouches out there that I've missed?

So I have two more listings written up, bit it's been rainy the past two days so I haven't been able to get good pictures (I like to do them in natural light). Once I get those tomorrow, I'll have four bags up. I'm a little behind because my baby and DH are sick so I have had less time than expected. I'm going to try drafting a couple more listings tonight (once I figure out what else I want to sell) so hopefully by the end of the day tomorrow I'll have 6+ items up. Then I just need them to sell so I can meet my goal of 5 sales in January.

No bag today - just a diaper bag, which I'm not counting as one of my 3. Will post a picture of it though at some point.

Still waiting for my late 2016 purchases to ship.

Spark,

Sooner than later please. Your collection is all premiere and it's expected that your makeup case is on par with your bags, card cases & wallets. You can do a high low mix on this but not that low. Henry Bendel has great makeup bags that don't break the bank. I love the Chanel makeup case but nothing compares to LV Slgs. They are reasonable for branded.

Spark,

I think it's next to impossible to love the workhorse. If i truly love it I can't make it a workhorse. Are you planning for one of your next two bags to be flaps. Then that will leave arm carry workhorse in grey or Bordeaux. What color flap are you looking for?

I'm glad you adopted the Chanel forever rule....thoughtful well planned purchases in the way to go. I hate selling and buying/return frenzy and for me that's clear indication that I need to pause and regroup.

Grrrr! Now I have to hold up my end of the bargain and list more items tonight. :annoyed:

Seriously, good job! You are keeping me motivated and I appreciate it!

Sooo...99 cent pouch and Chanel flap not a good mix, huh?
This reminds me of the wallet conversations we had last year when you were horrified that I was carrying the torn and mangled wallet I got from a novelty shop. I have to admit that while I have zero interest in adding a wallet, I do love the Gucci, Chanel and Dior ones I bought.

But pouches??? <insert whining> I looked up preowned LV pouches and they are 3 figures. For a pouch. :faints:
IDK, Missie. You may have a hard time moving me on this one. I may just be the tacky pouch lady.

I absolutely agree on the buying / selling is an indiacation of needing to regroup. Been there / done that too many times. I'm off that merry go round.

I can definitely love a workhorse. I love my black YSL! And I think of my LV LockMe II BB as my run around town workhorse and I adore that bag. So, that's why I wanted the Mirabeau. I don't want bags I love to get worn out from being overused. I think I could love the Mirabeau. But since I'm not sure...I'm waiting. I wish I could see / hold it in person.

My 2017 bag purchases are going to be 2 of these 4. It just depends on which I find first

1) a grey or bordeaux workhorse satchel with optional shoulder strap - medium / large enough for carrying iPad, umbrella, etc.
2) a silver bag to replace the MM & PS
3) a cobalt or kelly green bag to replace the KS
4) a black tote large enough for traveling overnight with a change of clothes and a laptop (I'm waffling on the Knomo because it isn't love. Not sure if I need to love luggage. LOL!)

And, yea, I'm always keeping my eye out for another perfect Chanel single flap to add but I don't have a color on my radar right now. If I do find one I have to give up another bag in my collection for a one in / one out.

Haha, I only made sure to get the other two done (other than the pictures) because you were doing so great and I didn't want to give up after one day. The extra motivation is good!

I got one pair of sunnies up tonight. I have to get back on track tomorrow. Let's keep each other going. We can do this!
