That's pretty. I'd say my City used to look almost like that when it's new. After years, it's lighten a lot. (I now realize that the best color for dust bag is black. The color can really fade even if you keep it in the dust bag, on shelf, in a walk-in closet. Exposing it to all kind of light is just bad, especially for Bal. Chanel is genius with their black ones.)

BTW, I really think Hermes has something like this, but I'm not sure. [emoji848]

I looked at Prune (one side of the Double Sens) but it's more purplely-brown rather than a black-purple, I'm guessing that's the one you mean. Raisin is lovely but really just a dark soft purple (and in the new batch quite brown too) Anemone is a bright violet (I have a Rodeo charm in the colour) other purples are brighter or a lot more 'feminine'. Amethyst only comes in croc (I have a belt in it) and is also a more straight forward purple. BV Borola is too red. I want the rouge-noir of the purple world 'violet-noir'.

I have one purple bag, nothing in pink though. With apologies to anyone who's fed up of me posting it - raisin bolide. This shade definitely looks redish in some lights to me, and is a very wearable purple, it seems to adapt to whatever I'm wearing  It looks different in these two photos but they were both taken just now.

Yes, gorgeous, in fact heavenly, the perfect dark soft purple. Just a scrumptious bag altogether. I want more of a purple the way blue is to Indigo.

I will never tire of seeing it. Very Pretty!

Took a clean Envirosax bag to put my red Box leather Bolide into for the hospital. So sunny, warm and bright today but caught a rain shower on the way back and I got caught out (even with an umbrella). Note to all, especially myself, Envirosax is NOT waterproof at all!

DH was really sweet and patient, he switched all the shopping from a supermarket life-bag and let me use it for my Bolide. I had to wipe the Bolide dry with the sleeve of my cream cashmere Ballantyne sweater before switching because my open packet of tissues fell out onto the wet street.

Photos later. I'm still damp but Bolide seems fine. Honestly, this bag business is all slightly ridiculous sometimes :girlsigh:
For leather lovers, rain is the enemy! I'm glad your Bolide escaped just fine.

I agree with you on the wish for more sales. I'm not selling my nicer items even though they're pristine and I now have them listed at 5% under previous solids. I'm selling the crappy items I almost donated because I felt they might not be worth listing. Can't figure it out.

And, I'm glad you listened to yourself on pause v ban. You'll be happier and more successful than if you were forcing yourself one way or another.

I don't think I'll ever go on a real ban. As long I do a general pre-planning of what I want to buy during the year, pause hard and critically assess each individual purchase, I make good decisions that I don't regret. It's when I do impulse buys that things fall apart. This is a relatively new approach for me (2-3 years) but it's working very well. I'm finally getting away from the impulse item in / impulse item out merry go round I was on.

I actually think I'm one of the few people who would say TPF has saved me money. This thread definitely keeps me disciplined.
And, I see people doing money draining things I know I did and would have continued doing: buying multiple substitutes instead of the one bag I want, never using some bags, buying a bag that looks good but doesn't work for me...:whut: Without TPF and my pocket friends, I know I would have at least 20-30 more bags that I didn't want or need. So I'm grateful for the sanity check I get here.
I agree on the psychological effect of a ban vs. pause. Thinking about (though not yet declaring) not buying a bag for the rest of the year is driving me nuts and makes me look at more bags online!

I'm glad TPF has had a positive impact on bag discipline for you. My "bag life" is still evolving after discovering tpf. I went on a binge during the early days, then I slowed down a little on one brand and turned to other brands. Now I feel I am making fewer but better bag choices. And more importantly, I am able to hold off good deals on brands/styles that I know I will easily tire of and direct the resources to some other bags that I know will work better for me. I have to accept the fact that I am trapped with some bags that I can't dispose given the limited second hand market accessible to me, and this fact also helps me not purchase here and there.

Beautiful!! Always love seeing this!

Based on @papertiger's description of vintage, I have one truly vintage (1993 LV Speedy 25 in black epi) and an almost vintage bag (1999 Christian Dior Maris Pearl). They are still in rotation, though not used a lot.
ETA: I'm glad these bags are not heavy, which seems to be a common thing for vintagey bags because of thick leather and lining, and hardware.

On the topic of aubergine, this leather is the closest I've found and really is more black cherry (as its called in the laurel dasso leather selections) and reads more burgundy black than purple black. But the saturation, intensity, reflection of the leather is kind of like an eggplant. And it's proximity to black without being muddy and totally indiscernable from black unless in perfect lighting. But yes if this kind of color that straddles purple and black appears with less leaning on red, I would be really into that as well. My super deep blues are such great staples that I really want super dark Bordeaux and aubergine as well, as I think they will work just as well.

That's delicious! Absolutely gorgeous colour, black cherry is yummy

I am trying for a no spend April. At least not on bags or SLGs. I got a few bags in during March (gulp, 4) and two out, and I've been bag content for a couple weeks now so I'll just continue not browsing or buying for April altogether. I have a coated canvas and leather tote coming from laurel dasso that is being done with my mom's artwork as the design but I won't see that until June. Along with a leather bag. But those are the only outstanding items incoming into my collection and I'm going to stop right there and try to wait until August to plan a birthday bag for September. Until then no purchases (unless mulberry frankie or small abbey goes on deep discount during mz wallace summer sale.)
This will be by far my longest non purchase stretch (4-5 months) since I joined tpf nine months ago. But one step at a time. First a no buy April. Then I'll resolve to continue in may. Lather rinse repeat.

What color is next?

Yay September birthday!

Okay so I am not so tempted to buy because a) I am bag content and b) I do not have the life nor small wallet required to rock this bag but wow.
Is it too close to a chloe drew?
It's by Angela Valentine on etsy :

I love the bee.

I don't think it's close to a Chloe Drew. The bee is super cute.
But it is super tiny.

I always keep an envirosax bag in my bag, usually for shopping purposes and a protective cover for my bag if it rains very heavily. I wasn't sure if the bag was truly rainproof, but I thought it could at least provide some protection for my bag while I brave through the rain!

How did everyone do with their tally for March?

March: 1 in, 0 out
2017 Jan to Mar: 3 in, 0 out (4 in if I count 1 SLG)

I'm still working on the '0 out'. :sweatdrop:

And it would have to be this colour (below, a true black-red-purple) and not just be some vague purple called 'aubergine'

I have a Nightingale which Givenchy called it as aubergine. I don't know if it fits your definition of the black-purple. Maybe not. (this bag is at the top of my list of bags to ‘out’. Too heavy for me and I have not used it since a long time ago)
