Thanks! I'm really happy with them and would have been kicking myself forever if I hadn't just gone ahead and grabbed them.

And you haven't failed, you just had a hiccup. We have 22 days left in March. If you want can get back on track like I did.

What did you get? Would you like our help in deciding if you should keep or return?
I bought an LV (my first LV) cross body - the musette - it's from 2004, but unworn and perfect. I was thinking it would be a great wet weather bag, but....even though its a good price for its condition, I just keep looking at it and wondering whether a canvas bag can be worth it - which has aways been my personal "block" about buying LV (no offense to those who love LV btw). Here it is, any advice and opinions would be helpful

I think it is very nice. The canvas can easily handle the rain. It is the vachetta I would be concerned with.

this is mine, SS 2016, really thick, sturdy and great looking leather...
never rented, but purchased a few from a consignment with good return policy, if i didn't like it, i returned it and got my money back
Um...so, did you not hear I'm on a no spend month???? I've seen you post this picture before and it's really not helping. You kind of have the "ultimate" beautiful Bal edge. LOL! It's insanely gorgeous! And I love how you coordinated your sunnies. So, looking at this photo is not good for my sense of restraint.
I think I need to wear the Bal with different outfits which is why I can't buy and return. I think it should work because while I'm fem/glam/chic with my wardrobe I do like a bit of an edge. Everything doesn't have to be a Chanel flap. LOL!

For example, I have this Jimmy Choo large Biker bag that's unstructured and a little edgy. I love it and it really works for some of my looks. So I'm thinking a Bal could work too???? But I'm not sure and I am soooo tired of selling bags that I find out don't work. So maybe this is the time a rental would be a good idea. IMG_0819.JPG

It's day 9 of my no spend challenge. :oh: I haven't had any more "unauthorized" spends since I bought the earrings I mentioned. However, I'll be very happy for this to end on the 31st. My modified no spend version gives me some breathing room because I can spend on already budgeted items like dining out when I travel, etc. But, it would be pretty challenging to do a total no unnecessary spend month. I may try that next year.

Anyway, the earrings I bought to match the necklace came in. And yay! They work perfectly! :amuse:View attachment 3628312
I'm starting to have fun with my jewelry list. My casual fine jewelry items are giving me a lot of joy. I'm glad I made the decision to get rid of costume jewelry.
Whoa, you weren't kidding about those being a great match. I would have never guessed you didn't buy them together.

Ooooh. This is a toughie. I have always struggled with paying designer prices for canvas. In fact, I had adamantly said I never would.

Then I got on TPF and heard why people love coated canvas - particularly LV canvas. The overall craftsmanship of the bags is outstanding. Seams won't pop, hardware won't fail, etc. Also, the canvas is extremely sturdy. If you don't totally trash the bag, it will hold up in ways that leather just can't. Add to all this that resale on many LV canvas bags is pretty good - better than that for most brands.

So, I've totally reversed my stance on coated canvas and know I'll end up getting one one day when the time is right.

With that, my opinion is keep and enjoy the bag if you got a great price and have a defined use for it in your closet. It's a great looking bag (I like that it's streamlined but still has a great shape) and it looks practical. That's a great combination.

I love LV canvas bags as I find them to be perfect for workhorse and casual wear with a premiere bag

It does fill a gap, I only have one other small cross body which is leather, and all my other bags are medium or larger sized bags and all are leather. It is a tough decision. I've been considering getting an LV for a while as a weatherproof bag, but now I have it in my hand I'm not sure! My fine leather prejudices are kicking in  I've read about the robustness of LV canvas, but I haven't any experience of it myself.

Are there protectants people use on vachetta?
This doesn't worry me so much, I think the darkened vachetta looks nice :-) I like it.

Put your stuff in it and try it with some outfits then you will know.

Very pretty and a perfect match

At the end of the day you should / have to love the bag. If you aren't loving the canvas, return it. You don't ever have to like canvas.

There are many other rainy day options. For leather: patent, epi and saffiano are just a few. I've even read that certain exotics like ostrich and unusual leathers like buffalo are actually great in the rain. And if you do want a different non leather rainy option there is nylon (like Prada nylon bags).

Right now my go to rainy weather bags are my patent, saffiano and caviar leather bags.

I think your instinct to rent one and try it with several different ideas is sound.

I'm a newcomer on this yearly thread, and obviously I've only see a small portion of your style, but from what I've seen, this Jimmy Choo looks a little more "you" than the Bals. The bag IS a little edgy, but I'd say it's MORE fem/glam/chic. Balenciaga makes really stunning bags, but I'm not really seeing the overlap with your closet. I hope I'm not being rude.
