My takeaway from 2017:
1. More is not better
Having so many bags is not necessarily good (for me). Even if I wanted to use some bags longer, I sometimes felt that I NEEDED to change out, just so I can give others their exposure. This was not fun at all!
2. My taste changes in terms of bag colors
I let go of a lot of my colored bags this 2017. Before, I thought I needed colorful bags, but I got tired of them and longed for neutrals. Maybe the lusting for colors will come back, maybe not.
3. No forever bag (by choice) for me
After a while, some favorites are no longer that. So if I buy relatively more expensive bags (than contemporary), my eyes should then be open to the possibility that these will not be used a lot after some time. They might become "forever" bags due to lack of resale market though.
4. Better 1 pricier bag than several cheaper replacement bags
With this realization, I should really space my purchase (money tree not bearing enough [emoji3]) and go with THE bag I really want. I have also realized that there are bags that I want because of the brand. For instance, my Saint Laurent tote (bought in Dec 2016). There are many well made contemporary totes out there. But I wanted this in part because of the brand. I have come to acknowledge and accept this part of me (being brand conscious) that's why I want to have more thought out purchases.
5. I don't need to own all bags I like
I still have not found a hobby that will distract me from bag browsing so I will always be seeing beautiful bags. But I have kept repeating this mantra to remind myself!
I bought 11 bags in 2017, not counting 2 document bags. Of these 11, I have rehomed 2. So net of 9 bags, where about 4 were brought during travels abroad. I should really leave room for these "fruits of travel" bags and not buy and buy during off travel periods.
