Last summer we decided our daughter should buy my winter car, which was a Chevy Equinox. Both dh and I never loved that car so even though it was only a year old, we sold it to dd at a great price. Hubby thought he wasn't driving his Jeep Rubicon enough so he decided we should trade it in on a Jeep Cherokee for me to drive in the winter. He's a huge Jeep fan. Me, until now, not so much. Even though the Rubicon was four years old it had low miles and was in perfect condition and they gave him almost what he paid for it. So, maybe I'm becoming a believer. This is my first Jeep but I love it! It drives through the snow like a champ, is super comfortable and has all the features I want at a very reasonable price. My only complaint is that all the new cars don't have CD players. I know I should join the 21st century and use spotify or my phone for music but I have a large CD library and it's easy to pop in a CD. No technology or cords needed, lol!I had a Lexus RX300 that lasted me for 16 years. They are really good cars! The only reason I didn't replace it with another Lexus is that the 350 felt just a bit too large to me. So I went with the Mercedes SUV, which is just as good a car but is smaller. Very happy with it, but I haven't "bonded" with it the way I did with my sturdy RX300.
And just to put the whole thing into perspective, I don't love car shopping either... I just want to buy a car and then forget about it for a really long time.
Buy now sounds good .I've been away for a while and have decided there's no way I could catch up on a month's posts on this site so I'm just jumping back in. Life has been exceptionally chaotic for me and my family and many things have dropped off the to-do list including Christmas cards and my annual cranberry bread baking marathon. And I didn't get all my things listed on ebay like I had planned. I am trying to decide if I should push and get a few things listed as a buy-it-now instead of a standard auction...
Give it time, you'll bond with the Mercedes - I've been driving the SUV for 17+ years and still love it.I had a Lexus RX300 that lasted me for 16 years. They are really good cars! I am not looking that far yet, enjoying the spirit and pre-holidays period slowlyAm I the only person on the thread who gets excited for the new year because of our annual color week bag showcases?I love seeing the pretty bags!!!
thank you!K, you know I'm not a scarf gal but this one is majestic! I love the vibrant colors! And all of your "look" is really working! Even the wash of your jeans is perfect for the color combos. Kudos!
And, oooh! Are you starting us on another challenge!! I'll join in, but I only have 3 red bags.
Congrats on your new bag AND your new car. May you have many hours of delight with the bag, and many many MANY (at least 15) years of safety with the car.I was eyeballing that pretty Mercedes SUV. That is a great looking car.
Cars really should last at least 15 years. I know people who get a new car every 2 years. But the rest of us just wanna get from point a to point b for as long as possible without spending more $.
We went back out today at lunchtime and looked at additional models of the Lexus and the Cadillac. I knew which one I wanted from the online spec sheets - the black Lexus. Or so I thought. I saw it and...nope. Then I went to my second choice - the black Cadillac - nope.
Then I looked at the one that I just knew I didn't want and yep! it's the one.
So I just picked up my new car! 2016 Cadillac SRX. Yay! I love it...well as much as I can love a car.I'd really rather have a couple new bags but I can't drive a satchel to Walmart.

We had talked about hating the haggling? I bought this from a company called Drivers Select. They have set, no haggle pricing below Kelly Blue Book. All the cars are CARFAX accident free and have had only one owner. The prices on the models I looked at were lower than anything I could find nationwide. They're opening up additional locations nationwide US over the next year so I wanted to share. You know I looooove a deal!
@HopelessBagGirl - I checked out the site you mentioned for true pricing. Unfortunately, it seems to only be for new cars and I like to buy preloved (no surprise there. Lol!) but it seems like a really great tool. Thanks for sharing.
Ok. Bday vacation. New red bag. New car. My disposable has officially been disposed of.I think I saw dust and a tumbleweed roll out of my wallet.
I'm going to happily go on ban in January with gratitude and contentment.
It's been over 2 years. I love driving the car, but some of the controls just don't feel as intuitive as the controls on my old Lexus. Maybe it's just me? It's a beautifully-designed car, though, and I feel very safe in it. Excellent visibility, great brakes, very good on wet roads. I think it's just that the old Lexus was my first luxury car, and I really appreciated all its little high-end touches.Give it time, you'll bond with the Mercedes - I've been driving the SUV for 17+ years and still love it.![]()

I have friends who will drive nothing but a Lexus. Maybe eventually you'll go back to your first love, Elaine! It's been over 2 years. That's how I feel about my Audi A5. It's almost 5 years old and I still love it. So much fun to drive! I don't drive it in the winter, even though it's AWD. The chemicals they use on the roads here would be too hard on it.+1 on Mercedes. Mine is 12 years old and I don’t want to part with mine. I still love my car.
I’ve gone to the outlets today with DBF’s family, this time to the one that has Mulberry and Gucci and the like.
Oddly enough I’m tempted at all.
Kinda not liking the new Mulberry. It doesn’t feel the same and the new logo isn’t as cute as the tree. But new Mulberry is lighter so it’s easier to carry. But nothing for me.
Lol that’s pretty much all I wanted to see here. This is the only Mulberry in my area.
I did carry my Mulberry SBS today haha.
