2017 resolution - shopping my own bag and wallet collection. Any one else?

I had a Lexus RX300 that lasted me for 16 years. They are really good cars! The only reason I didn't replace it with another Lexus is that the 350 felt just a bit too large to me. So I went with the Mercedes SUV, which is just as good a car but is smaller. Very happy with it, but I haven't "bonded" with it the way I did with my sturdy RX300.
And just to put the whole thing into perspective, I don't love car shopping either... I just want to buy a car and then forget about it for a really long time.

I was eyeballing that pretty Mercedes SUV. That is a great looking car.

Cars really should last at least 15 years. I know people who get a new car every 2 years. But the rest of us just wanna get from point a to point b for as long as possible without spending more $.

We went back out today at lunchtime and looked at additional models of the Lexus and the Cadillac. I knew which one I wanted from the online spec sheets - the black Lexus. Or so I thought. I saw it and...nope. Then I went to my second choice - the black Cadillac - nope.

Then I looked at the one that I just knew I didn't want and yep! it's the one.

So I just picked up my new car! 2016 Cadillac SRX. Yay! I love it...well as much as I can love a car. :giggle: I'd really rather have a couple new bags but I can't drive a satchel to Walmart. :lol: IMG_3203.JPG(This is a stock photo because they took the picture of my car off the site when I bought it).

We had talked about hating the haggling? I bought this from a company called Drivers Select. They have set, no haggle pricing below Kelly Blue Book. All the cars are CARFAX accident free and have had only one owner. The prices on the models I looked at were lower than anything I could find nationwide. They're opening up additional locations nationwide US over the next year so I wanted to share. You know I looooove a deal! :tup:

@HopelessBagGirl - I checked out the site you mentioned for true pricing. Unfortunately, it seems to only be for new cars and I like to buy preloved (no surprise there. Lol!) but it seems like a really great tool. Thanks for sharing.

Ok. Bday vacation. New red bag. New car. My disposable has officially been disposed of. :whiteflag: I think I saw dust and a tumbleweed roll out of my wallet. :whut: I'm going to happily go on ban in January with gratitude and contentment.

HBG, you and I are kindred sisters on hassle factor. So that is the FIRST thing I fiddled with when I got home today. I put all my things in and tried some "Quick draw, McGraw!" moves (as my mom would say LOL!) to see if I could quickly get my items out. What I found is my hand tends to pull both flaps up at the same time. So shockingly, the second flap isn't an issue. I have a df M/l and it isn't an issue there either. The limited capacity is what gets me on that bag.

That is EXACTLY what I thought. When I try to imagine it gone I almost hyperventilate - will I easily find another lamb with "all the extras" (box, card, dustbag, etc." in this shade???
Very good analysis of the situation and advice!!! The caviar is more understated and the lamb more lush. And I recalled questions about weight so I weighed it. It's not as heavy as a couple of my other bags so it will be fine for carrying loaded with my things.

I think where I'm landing is this - my red caviar was only my 2nd Chanel. At that time I didn't know caviar leather from a hole in the ground. And, when the bag arrived I loved it overall but, felt a twinge because it was... plastic-y. So, then I haunted TPF to see if others felt this way but, couldn't find people saying that they did. So I (uncharacteristically) doubted my perceptions and kept it moving.

However, after 2 years with the bag, I just can't take it! :cray: I love the bag and hate the plasticy feel. Yep I know caviar is durable. And, yep, I know it holds its shape. If the bag was black and used a LOT, I'd embrace the caviar. In fact I may get a black in caviar. But, that's because I'll use the bags differently. Black will be used a LOT and need to be more durable. I want the red to be my pretty play time bag.

This bag was supposed to be my Holy Grail. The "ONE" bag above all to make my little heart sing. It wasn't meant to be a "practical" bag. I have those with the Max Mara being the top of that list.

So based on that, I am going to keep the lambskin. :woot: :yahoo::hbeat: I adore how it looks and it's attitude. It's a sexy, lipstick red, in your face, kick a** & take names, stilettos on deck, whoo-hoo bag! So, it can be super indulgent. And if a pristine 10c red sf lamb comes along, I could swap again if I need extra capacity. But, if not, I'm happy.

And, that's ok. At least it's not a Moschino pool floaty bag. My sanity and wardrobe don't extend that far. :lol:

I think I'm just going to send the caviar to Ann's. I don't have it in me to try to sell it. :whut:

But, whoop! Yay! I have my red Lambie Pie! Now, I'm going to hard pause on the black patent. Chanel and the Pradas. I want to see if swapping this out has a calming effect so I can enjoy them. Lol!

Husband took his work car to airport for trip abroad and my car is in the shop, @soramillay
He’s back home, and girls are in daycare for the day, father in law is shortly here and he and I are then taking both cats to the vet to get checked for ear mites because I am 99% sure that’s the problem with the weird acting one, just by looking in his ear it seems very much like photos on the internet of what a cat ear looks like with ear mites, and I’m assuming that it’s turned into a bad inner ear infection and that’s throwing off his balance. Of course we’ll let the vet decide what’s the situation but that’s my hunch based on all the symptoms and reading a bunch of articles about why cats are suddenly off balance and frequently fall down and what ear mite infested cat ears look like.

Thanks to everyone for the TM/BB recommendations. I did not get anything from the duty free airport cosmetics shop because they had none of the ones I asked for, but I found an online retailer with free shipping in my country and ordered the NARS pure radiant and the Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer so let’s see which one I love.

K, you know I'm not a scarf gal but this one is majestic! I love the vibrant colors! And all of your "look" is really working! Even the wash of your jeans is perfect for the color combos. Kudos! :tup:

And, oooh! Are you starting us on another challenge!! I'll join in, but I only have 3 red bags.
