I have no experience with Chanel flaps at all. I’ve had one Chanel and it wasn’t a flap so obviously I shouldn’t even be writing this. BUT ... I’m a veteran now of a bajillion Youtube videos showing many Chanel flaps. Those ladies LOVE the double flap because it holds its structure over time and they convinced me that it really does, a few by showing comparisons with the single. If that matters in your decision, there you go. Visually, that double red is so gorgeous.
Thanks for the input!!! I've heard the DF holds structure better argument. But, I'm super careful with my SFs. I don't pinch my bags at the top, don't rest my arm on them and keep them lightly stuffed - which eliminates the causals I've heard of for the structure loss. So, I don't worry about it. But, it's worth keeping this comparison mind.
I will dissent. They are obviously both gorgeous bags but I could not deal with a double flap. Would drive me bonkers. I need to be able to easily get in and out of bags and a single flap is already enough nonsense for me to deal with to grab sumthin out in a jiff.
HBG, you and I are kindred sisters on hassle factor. So that is the FIRST thing I fiddled with when I got home today. I put all my things in and tried some "Quick draw, McGraw!" moves (as my mom would say LOL!) to see if I could quickly get my items out. What I found is my hand tends to pull both flaps up at the same time. So shockingly, the second flap isn't an issue. I have a df M/l and it isn't an issue there either. The limited capacity is what gets me on that bag.
@Sparkletastic I prefer the lambskin - the leather is gleaming/glowing in these pics, the red is a beautiful true red and it looks really puffy. I see you’ve answered your single flap vs. double flap capacity question. Congratulations, you’ve found a beautiful replacement for your red caviar bag.
Good luck with your decision!:graucho::love:
Thanks, @More bags! I'm super excited. It does really glow doesn't it?
Sparkle, I'm having a difficult time giving an opinion on the 2 reds just because I have no experience with them. They are both beautiful for sure!! My only question is if you could deal with double flap. If yes, then go for the lambskin.

Ksuromax - cute slippers!!
I'm thinking it will be ok. I love the look and feel of this bag!!!
110% lambskin. I feel that if you pass it up you'll always look at the caviar with regret:sad: even though it's also stunning.
That is EXACTLY what I thought. When I try to imagine it gone I almost hyperventilate - will I easily find another lamb with "all the extras" (box, card, dustbag, etc." in this shade???
They are both gorgeous [emoji7][emoji7][emoji7][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]

I can only advise you from my own perspective.

The red lambskin is more lush because it has a lovely shine to it that makes the red pop more.

The caviar red is more low-key elegant and has a more classic look; whilst the red lambskin is more in your face with that phoww factor.

On single versus double flap issue; my jumbo and reissue are both double flaps (caviar and aged calfskin) while my seasonal city rock (goatskin) is a single flap . Both styles work for me and i can’t honestly say i prefer one over the other.

I love that I don’t really have to baby my caviar bags so that’s a plus.
If this was me choosing i would go for the red lambskin solely on the basis of diversity; i have caviar already so i would get lambskin; but I prefer the understated red of the caviar.

I think you love the roominess of the single flap and i’ve heard its lighter than double flaps. Some people complain of jumbo double flaps being heavy but I don’t have that issue.

Both reds are seriously gorgeous and you really can’t go wrong with either.

Stick with what works for you if you’re having a hard time deciding; your single flap.
Very good analysis of the situation and advice!!! The caviar is more understated and the lamb more lush. And I recalled questions about weight so I weighed it. It's not as heavy as a couple of my other bags so it will be fine for carrying loaded with my things.

I think where I'm landing is this - my red caviar was only my 2nd Chanel. At that time I didn't know caviar leather from a hole in the ground. And, when the bag arrived I loved it overall but, felt a twinge because it was... plastic-y. So, then I haunted TPF to see if others felt this way but, couldn't find people saying that they did. So I (uncharacteristically) doubted my perceptions and kept it moving.

However, after 2 years with the bag, I just can't take it! :cray: I love the bag and hate the plasticy feel. Yep I know caviar is durable. And, yep, I know it holds its shape. If the bag was black and used a LOT, I'd embrace the caviar. In fact I may get a black in caviar. But, that's because I'll use the bags differently. Black will be used a LOT and need to be more durable. I want the red to be my pretty play time bag.

This bag was supposed to be my Holy Grail. The "ONE" bag above all to make my little heart sing. It wasn't meant to be a "practical" bag. I have those with the Max Mara being the top of that list.

So based on that, I am going to keep the lambskin. :woot: :yahoo::hbeat: I adore how it looks and it's attitude. It's a sexy, lipstick red, in your face, kick a** & take names, stilettos on deck, whoo-hoo bag! So, it can be super indulgent. And if a pristine 10c red sf lamb comes along, I could swap again if I need extra capacity. But, if not, I'm happy.

And, that's ok. At least it's not a Moschino pool floaty bag. My sanity and wardrobe don't extend that far.

I think I'm just going to send the caviar to Ann's. I don't have it in me to try to sell it. :whut:

But, whoop! Yay! I have my red Lambie Pie! Now, I'm going to hard pause on the black patent. Chanel and the Pradas. I want to see if swapping this out has a calming effect so I can enjoy them. Lol!

The tree needs to get with the program and make some money!

Are you getting the bag? I love the look of the Sugar but held back because of the divided compartments which usually don't work out for me.
The sugar is a lovely bag. Hope you’re able to get it. It was a wishlist item at one point but I never got serious getting it. Show pics if you ever get one
I would get it if I'm not trying to be responsible with finances as I really like the bag and it looked and felt luxurious when I saw it IRL in Galeries Lafayette in Berlin. (I don't think we have a boutique here in the country.) I think I can live with the divided compartments though I would have preferred an undivided inner area.

I think now that I've bought the top item on my wishlist (Mulberry zipped), this becomes the next. The 3rd is the MCM, but since it is in the same style as the just purchased Mulberry and the Massaccesi Angelica, I should go for variety in style. Unless the money tree gives me money?!

So pretty!
Thanks!!

Woo hoo! Congrats on the red lamb! It is super lush and gorgeous. I know you made the right decision. The caviar was always going to be nagging at you and not quite right. Enjoy your new baby!

I can’t remember if you have sold through Ann’s before or if I’m thinking of someone else. Let us know how that works — I’m thinking of expanding my horizons beyond Yoogis and Fashionphile and maybe selling through Ann’s as well, but I think her process works differently. I’m curious to see how you find it.
