Hope you have a great trip and a wonderful birthday!
Thanks!
Well, you know...I think there’s hope that black leather leggings would be appropriate for us. Saw that it can be done at Nordstrom recently. The SA and I got a bit chatty, and she told me that she’s 58 years old. She was wearing black leather leggings (!!) with a little detailing on one leg on the side that looked like slashes and made out of different material that was matte. She paired them with a long black tunic sweater and black flats. Looked classy and edgy. The key was that her derrière was covered and she wore more conservative shoes. Otherwise, it would have been a totally different and possibly inappropriate look.
Black leather leggings definitely look good on any age. Styling is everything. IMHO an 80 yo may not be at her best in those leggings and a leather bandeau top. ;)
Good news from the hematologist ladies! Everything is good with my bone marrow biopsy. No cancer (we knew that), no myeloproliferative disorder (which is what she was looking for), nothing serious going on. She does want me to take an iron supplement though, said the low iron could be causing the platelet issue. And my favorite part, she said I could stop taking the blood thinner. And she said I didn't need to see her again. So yay! I feel much better.

Still have to see the pulmonologist on the 11th. I really have no idea what to expect from that, except that they've done 2 nuclear scans of my lungs, so I know there's nothing bad there or someone would have said something already.
I'm so glad the news looks bright!
This is a stunning scarf, Elaine!!!
If we lived a bit closer, i'd lend you my Silver Pillow to make your look complete, but black Pillow will look good as well, maybe you can add a silver charm to it?
@ksuromax and @ElainePG - how much does the pillow hold. Can sunnies for comfortably?

All this talk about coats and winter outfits has led me to shop my closet and wear my much neglected Zara coat - which is good.

But: DBF being away on a men‘s weekend in London led to me doing an excursion to an outlet village. Guess what? I bought two beautiful blue and black wool coats *facepalm* A third one was very tempting, but then I would have had enough coats for the rest of my life...
I love everything about your look!
I'ven't been following this thrad actively so my post is most likely off-topic. I just found interesting research article about rude sales associates. So in the event you get treated poorly, it might be just another trick to make you purchase instead of unprofessionalism.

"When it comes to luxury brands, the ruder the sales staff the better the sales, according to new research from the University of British Columbia’s Sauder School of Business.

The forthcoming Journal of Consumer Research study reveals that consumers who get the brush-off at a high-end retailer can become more willing to purchase and wear pricey togs.

“It appears that snobbiness might actually be a qualification worth considering for luxury brands like Louis Vuitton or Gucci,” says Sauder Marketing Prof. Darren Dahl. “Our research indicates they can end up having a similar effect to an ‘in-group’ in high school that others aspire to join.”

For the study, participants imagined or had interactions with sales representatives – rude or not. They then rated their feelings about associated brands and their desire to own them. Participants who expressed an aspiration to be associated with high-end brands also reported an increased desire to own the luxury products after being treated poorly."

OMG! This is soooo crazy. This has worked the opposite way for me. The Dior shopping experience is so wonderful that I break my "rule" about never buying retail and will shop there. And, it's caused me to be more eager to purchase the brand more overall. Good in store experiences with Gucci and Fendi have also made me more interested in those brands.

Alternatively, the snotty attitudes I've gotten more often than not in LV have made me not want to buy the brand. I like some of the bags in spite. And, the down the nose looks I've gotten the very few times I've been in Hermes (plus stories I've read on having to work to buy), have kept me from being seriously interested in that brand.

No way I will buy when I've gotten crappy service or elitist attitudes.

We're going to the ballet tomorrow afternoon! Haven't decided which bag to carry (though I have picked the H scarf, since it has dancers on it, LOL) but I know it will be one of my mini bags.

The colors on this scarf seem to want an orange, red, or green bag, but I haven't got one. So I will probably carry my black BV pillow bag, which is always perfect. This time of the year, I wish I owned the pillow bag in silver, but I already have too many mini bags plus it seems a bit OTT to have a bag just to carry a few times in December!

Great news!!

It’s so stupid how much sexism there is.

Like how are women supposed to get cars? Only with a man? So stupid.

I’m not looking forward to tomorrow. The upside is there is DBF with me, but that doesn’t stop the sexist remarks. I also hope I’ll end up close to one of my favorite restaurants to enjoy between dealerships.

But I gotta learn how to deal with these people. My dad was with me when I got my current car, and one day I’ll have to also get a new car.
I hate looking for cars for all the reasons everyone has brought up. I've always wondered why car sales is a negotiation process? Why can't there be cars with prices, like everything else we buy??

What I’m finding absolutely ridiculous today is that they’re pricing used cars more than a brand new one.

So when I demand a lower price they’re baffled.

Like how stupid do they think consumers are? A brand new one is cheaper! The reason people consider a used car is get, oh I don’t know, a cheaper car.

If I go looking for a preowned bag, I expect to pay less than retail. That’s the point of it. Plus this car isn’t exactly the hard to find, holy grail of cars.

There is a place where you pretty much just buy a car, carmax.

But they didn’t have a single car that met DBF’s incredibly stringent criteria. [emoji36] I could’ve been on my merry way already.

This happened to my mom in some ways. She got her teaching credential in college, but got a job working as a trainee in space technology since there were no teaching jobs to be had when she graduated. She was quite a few years into her career and already had a family before either she realized or someone told her that she should have become an engineer. She worked with engineers, but always below them, never at their level. If she had been a man when she was coming of age, she probably would have been encouraged into engineering at the beginning of her career, or in college. She still could have done it, but by then, she had young children, she may have been a single mother already, and to go back and get her Masters was just not feasible at that point. She had a good career, but I think she regrets not going to that next step.

I watched Hidden Figures recently and was in awe at what the women had to overcome to make their achievements at NASA. And so pleased to see them receive the recognition (if somewhat late) in their lifetime. Your story reminded me of the one lady who was told she should be an engineer, but couldn’t because the college credits she needed came from a school that didn’t accept POC so she hadn’t to sue for the right to attend.

Recently I also read about the women in science who lost out on Nobel prizes, it made me furious. We’re talking about the discovery of DNA, nuclear fisson, the atomic bomb, Petri dish replica plating and pulsars. I never heard a WORD about these women scientists when I was in school learning about these great discoveries. Maybe if I had, I would have been more inspired towards a career in science.

Here’s an article about it. I hope they share these stories in school when teaching science to girls.

I’m bundled up for an outdoor holiday festival. Trim 2 holds a lot and is the right color of course. I’m happy for December to focus me on my
Red bags.

Oh this would definitely NOT work on me. Sadly I think it does work on some people, it triggers their aspirational insecurity... Awful strategy though.

Remember Saturn? The price was the price. Makes me wonder if that radical approach was part of the reason why they went out of business.
