It's the Smuin company, which is based in San Francisco, and then they travel in the bay area so they come down here 3 times a year. We have a subscription. In December they always call it "The Christmas Ballet" but it not Nutcracker. They are a modern dance company but they do a mix of classical, jazz, contemporary, and cutting-edge. The Christmas one is always a lot of fun because some of their numbers are choreographed to popular (like, from the 1940s & 50s) Christmas melodies, while others are choreographed to classical music more religious themes.
We're taking the daughter of family friends. She's ten, and really enjoys dance, so it's a treat for her.
Sounds wonderful ! Have a great time.

That sounds lovely! It’s always nice to see the traditional stuff, but I love different takes on things, especially at the holidays.

If DBF gets his car this month, I’m going to try and get time off to head up north in time for the holidays.

Good luck on the car negotiation. I take it this isn't your favorite thing in the entire world???
I hope the LV thing makes up for it. :graucho:

I dislike car dealers. They’re so judgmental and some can be flat out rude.

I hate going through the motions of trying all these cars. I like my car brand so I wasn’t too thrilled to try other brands (but that’s just me being biased and stubborn). Then to hear the same sales pitches. [emoji31]

Like as a woman, I’ll apparently only care for a car with room for car seats and trunk space for shopping.

But my inquiries on reliability, maintenance costs, and warranties are brushed off. [emoji35]
Excuse me for being practical.

Who knows when he’ll actually sign. He’s so picky. Hence the shopping for months now, since we had to wait for the new models to come out to make sure he didn’t want those.

At the very least LV will have lots of champagne. That’ll help me forget the woes of car shopping. #firstworldproblems.

OOTD with Dora.

My wardrobe has changed drastically in the last two years. I got rid of a lot of clothes that I wore in my 30s. My clothes are a little more conservative, although I do have some short (though not too short) dresses/skirts because my legs don’t look bad yet, at my age.

I put a lot more thought into what clothes I buy because I have to be more sensitive to what will look appropriate for my age. I also must consider the flaws that creep up on women age 40+ and how to disguise them.

That’s life.

The color of that bag is amazing!

Perhaps if someone was wearing tight, short, going to the club outfits all the time in their 20's, they should abandon that look by their 40's. But, other than that, I think someone can wear whatever they want at whatever age.

To me, the key to "appropriate" is other things that have zero to do with age

- do the clothes fit properly (no tugging, no sagging)
- do they flatter the person's shape (enhancing the "good" parts and minimizing the "not so good" parts)
- is the outfit, as a whole, on trend (some could wear every stitch original from the 40's and put it together with style, others can wear something from last year and it can look dated)
- does the outfit showcase the wearer's personality (when an outfit is true to someone, they just shine; when it's not, they look like they're in a costume.)

Agree on the impact of a move. I've moved 5 times in the last 8 years and have purged items each time. This last move really made me committed to no extra stuff of any kind. I'm just sick of lugging anything that doesn't regularly see the light of day.
I love this bag! I'm headed to the Bahamas today for my bday trip and packed 4 of my favorite bags for the 10 days. Whoop!

Hope you have a great trip and a wonderful birthday!

Great job!
Thank you!
I feel pretty good about it. One of the bags was an LV that I bought myself for a very large birthday - and I never really liked it. I carried it for 7 years though before finally thinking to myself "WTH am I still carrying this?"
It was because it was expensive.
And too expensive to just donate - which is what I usually do. So I pulled up my proverbial BGP's and sold it (and the others) on Poshmark. I didn't make a whole lot of money, but that wasn't my intention. I feel like I didn't waste money.
Now - and this is partially due to this thread - I think really hard before purchasing things - purses, clothes and - yes believe it or not  - scarves.

November stats:
Bags in - 1 (anniversary present)
Bags out - 4 (yay!)
SLG out - 1, none in.
(and I sold 6 Hermes scarves, but 3 Hermes scarves came in:angel:)
Excellent stats!
I've seen most of the images of the Hermès S/S18 scarves, and fortunately the only one really interesting to me is a little pink bandana. A very modest (for H, that is) purchase, and it takes up very little room! :p
Now I'm stalking the Hermès site, but so far none of the new scarves have been posted.

I used to be really bugged by car salesMEN. Then the last two times I bought a car, the SA was a woman. Wow. It made all the difference in the world! I don't want to sound like a reverse-sexist or anything, but in each case the experience was extremely professional, all my questions about reliability and so on were answered with care & attention, and I left the showroom actually feeling happy to have spent my $$$.
