Love all your charms bakeacookie. The good news is that charms don’t take up a lot of room. I think it’s great that you are trying to use them all. Have you ever done a group shot? Hint hint...

Thank you!

[emoji85]

I’ve done small groups. Like by brands or by item type.

I’m so afraid to do a full layout shot, much less a drawer shot. I’ve managed to compactly keep my collection in half a drawer. But there’s at least 100 individual pieces there.

When the dust settles in my luggage tag mission, I will do a all-inclusive group shot!

But I will redo my small group shots, to show the updates and to take advantage of the better camera.

@essiedub, @catsinthebag, were you looking for a tote? I recall someone mentioned trying a Céline with belt but it didn’t work for you, was it this one? I use a black pebbled leather Céline small Cabas Phantom with Belt (the one in the picture is grey). It is fairly lightweight, has a good shoulder drop, has a large capacity and has an interior zipped pocket and two flat pockets.

For days when I need a lighter colour large capacity bag I use my Louis Vuitton Mahina L in Poudre. It’s in the middle front row. It’s a smooshy bag both from the leather and the style of bag, it fits comfortably on the shoulder and has a zipped pocket.

Yes I am looking for the perfect tote (as is sparkletastic and catsinthebag) Ooh I did look at this Celine online. I have not seen it in person. Looks like the leather is supple. I like the various ways it could be tied, untied etc. I’m not sure if I should go with a value priced option (like everlane or Cuyana) or go back to a canvas tote because they are so light. Would you do a modeling shot with your phantom?

Reactions: More bags
Morebags, bakeacookie, sparkletastic, dcooney4, HopelessBagGirl and all the likers ..Thank you. I am trying to shop my closet and restore my bag carrying discipline. I can carry the same bag for a month straight...sheesh.

That leather looks amazing!
Yes, the lambskin is so very soft. The inside is also lined in lamb. It has the perfect shoulder length drop (I need to measure it..bet it’s the 8.5 -9.5”)

I love the color of this bag!
I can’t remember the official gray name...don’t think it’s dove grey...I have to head over to the Dior forum.

Update: Zee color is Mink gray and the wrinkliness is called gauffre! Delicious!

Great bag! I looove grey and silver bags. I had to tell myself to stop buying them.
Agree. I love grey and blue bags.

You are killing me. That is the exact bag (in any color although I have only seen it in that and black) I’ve come close to buying preloved because I have loved it, it has screamed at me since I first saw it. I have hemmed and hawed over it for my entire year and a half on TPF and I ended up every time feeling like I could get two non-premier new bags for the same price as that preloved bag, and you know what? In the end, looking back a year after the last time I gave it a lot of thought, I really should have skipped even 3 of the non-premier purchases and just get that bag because I love it so.
You live, you learn . Hey at least can I sign up first in line if you ever rehome it, you message me first? I’m sure that day will be so far in the future if ever, I won’t be banning then! Or I’ll break ban!

You know there’s something about the “wrinkliness” that appealed to me. Prada had a similar bag and they had it in both lamb and their fabric. For whatever reason, I preferred the Prada version in the fabric..there’s a name for that fabric but it eludes me at the moment. But back to Dior, they had this in this gray, the black, and a beige. Charlize Theron has this bag in the black in the larger size and She just carries it with such panache! Thank you for your comments.

Very Pretty!
Thanks dooney4!

That is WONDERFUL!!!
I hope you find what you need. To me, totes are so much harder to buy than handbags because function is the primary purpose but is so individual.

My three non negotiables are:

8.5 - 9.5" strap drop
• Center zip compartment
• Just wide enough to comfortably fit my 13" laptop (but not much wider)

I could also add E/W orientation. I don't like the look of N/S but there are so few N/S totes that this is never an issue for me.

I agree on the strap drop and the E/W orientation. I also didn’t think much about the center zip until dooney4 mentioned that it’s a great feature on totes that are open (for secularity reasons) ..yup yup

Speaking of N/S..after I saw this picture, I thought I’d be open to N/S!

I totally agree with you on the strap drop. 8 1/2 - 9 1/2 inches is perfect. I do not want an “armpit bag!”

I don’t need a center zip compartment, but I do need some built in pockets, especially one for my phone.

Funny thing is, I don’t need the tote to accommodate a laptop (although fitting an iPad would be nice). I just need a little more room than most of my handbags, the ability to fit a water bottle, and a nice comfortable shoulder strap and strap drop.

I’m still thinking about the BV Chain Tote because I think it ticks all the boxes. I do need to try it with my stuff in it to be sure, though.

I think you and I are looking for the same bag!

I must admit I get bored carrying a bag straight. So major props to you @essiedub!

I changed from a month, to two weeks, to one week. Lol. And it’s a different bag on weekends. I think that’s about as frequent I can rotate without being overwhelmed or bored.

I like the look of the N/S Solphe Hume tote but wouldn't buy it because it would have to be a hand carry or arm pit bag because of the short strap drop.

Question for everyone: do you still love the same brands that you did when you first joined TPF or has that changed?

I just realized that I'm not interested in buying any of my previous favorite brands. Some of the reasons are my standards for quality has increased, my taste has changed, head designers have changed and I've been exposed to brands / styles I prefer.

The only brand I could see going back to is Prada. But, they need some innovation.

Anyone else find that they've switched brand loyalties? If so, why?

Yeah I was all about the MZW and that is why I joined. But not anymore, I have five and that’s enough.....I didn’t like Massaccesi when I first joined but slowly got sucked in to the fun of custom made bags that came to my door quick with no customs hassle and the fun of participating in the TPF thread, but then they banned me from buying from them because I had a custom bag start to tear in the first 24 hours and they felt it was my fault for asking for different straps in the first place rather than their issue to correct (and maybe they are right; they could have just told me to handle it on my own with a local cobbler, that the customization made it final sale, as I never demanded they fix it, just asked what the next step should be to correct the ripping leather and even asked explicitly if I should just take it to a local cobbler and didn’t demand that they compensate that or anything but okay they decided they prefer never to hear from me again and that’s their prerogative ) . So even though I love the purses I have from MM, I think I am done with that brand except an occasional preloved that just is irresistible.

So I am kind of unmoored and have no obvious outlet for brand loyalty. Laurel Dasso is so lovely but half a world away and the shipping and wait time and customs just makes it not the right one stop shop. I hate everything in the department stores except the occasional rural or cocinelle. So yeah I need to just go to Ban Island and stay there for a long time. I have enough bags and there’s really hot an obvious brand I would shop from at this moment in my life.

oh and I forgot to say that I used to be really into premier but we are house poor these last 5 years and I went from 2 kids to 4 kids, so I have not really ventured in to the 4-digit price range in a long time because our budget is really not enough to afford it. There was a phase in my life when I had only premier (not a ton, but a small collection; I sold all but my tippy top few favorites when I was putting together a down payment with my fiancé on our house) so I totally get the appeal and they are delicious but that’s not really on the table for some time. Preloved premier yes, why not, but then authenticity is kind of an unappealing headache of a hurdle to deal with. Maybe if I figure out what spark’s ebay handle is and shop from only her or any of the rest of you, because I would trust it’s authenticity! Feel free to pm me your secondary market listings or handles or whatnot, any of you lovely ladies!

Glad my comments helped. I will revisit whether to sell the other GPs once I have a suitable alternative. I know everyone here says to sell a bag in order to buy one, but I usually do the reverse: buy a bag that eventually makes another bag in my closet obsolete. When I realize the obsolete bag isn’t going to be used anymore, then I sell it.
I think it can work either way. I only suggest someone sell first if I think they are not wearing a bag at all or if they need the money to fund the new bag. I have done it your way too when I wanted a smaller tote but didn't sell the huge one till I had a replacement.

I came to tpf to learn more about Lv since I was planning on buying one and wanted to make sure it was the correct One. lol I have since found quite a few brands I really enjoy. It is funny because yesterday I went in Lv and there was only one bag I thought was cute and would fit in my collection but when I asked the price it was over 2 thousand for a canvas bag that is smaller then most of my lv's. I just walked out as it was mobbed anyway . It was not love and there are to many things in my home that could be done with that money and my handbag stash was not going to get used for a bag that was just okay. I think for the moment at least I am happy with what I have. Also I have six bags at the consignment shop if they don't sell they will have to fit back in my closet till I can get rid of them ,so I don't want to fill the spots till they are permanently gone.

I almost always sell later. Hard to have regrets!

The most influence of tpf on me initially was with RM. But I think I found the brand a little too late because by then the active 'Minkettes' were moving away. Some of them to Balenciaga, so I got influenced too. But as it is in a higher price range, not as much. And I also was never active in that sub forum, only a lurker usually. I never felt I belonged. Then there was also Marc Jacobs, but then he changed directions.

Years later, I'm no longer into RM. I still admire some Bals and I have my Velo, but I'm not sure I will be adding since there are still a lot more brands I want to try too. As fate would have it, unknowingly, though not exactly, I am following what I set prior to my tpf days - that I will buy one bag each from different high end brands. (I overdid it a bit with the contemporary, lol.) In fact when you ask me now which designer/brand is my favorite, I don't know the answer. Because I try to diversify. So really no brand loyalties! For contemporary, I think my default brands are Furla and Massaccesi.

I am receiving a bag for Christmas that is heavier then I usually wear . I really like the look of the bag and it has comfy handles but I have serious shoulder issues. I am not sure what to do. I had weighed it really fast when dh purchased it but I think my weight thing is broken because I was told by a friend it weighs more then the 1.8 I thought it did.

Try weighing it again when you receive it. Also load it with the things you normally carry and see how it feels. If its not working out, then i would suggest you exchange it for something else. Especially with your shoulder problems I would not advice you keep it
