@msd_bags I can’t wait to see your new bag!

@soramillay, a backpack would be a tote alternative. And considering how many totes I own, with no need for an alternative kind of helps me realize the idea of a backpack isn’t exactly necessary in my life since I have plenty of usable totes. That really helps put this just on the list for now and not pushing me to seek a backpack. Never thought of it in that way.

This so annoys me when brands do this. YSL wouldn't repair my Monogram Cabas because I purchased it retail. I was happy to pay for the repair but they wouldn't even order the part for me without an original receipt.

To me, that's poor service. If I buy a preloved Mercedes from an individual, Mercedes will still repair the car. Same for large appliances and many other categories. So, for handbag companies to not offer fee based repair makes zero sense.

Agree. I suppose if I were media savvy I could post images of me carrying a Dior bag with tattered handles for the world to see. That would be great for branding?! The last few days, I tried it with the twillies...ugh..it all came loose . I was so annoyed. I need to contact the leather repair places pronto or just give up on the bag, which would sadden me.

I totally hear you on the tote dilemma! It’s just so unbelievably hard to find a bag that in itself is so basic, that has all the necessary requirements.

My take on the two you listed: I had the same feeling about the Coyn. The interior organization sets it apart, but on the outside, it looks like any other tote you might see on the street. And yeah, from the photos, the leather doesn’t look great. It is so hard to tell from just photos. But the Cuyana, although less expensive, does look like it has scrumptious leather. I actually ordered a Cuyana tote a couple of years ago. I sent it back because it was way too big for me, but the quality was really good for the price.

Some bag organizers have that water bottle feature. I think you can get that feature both from Samorga and from Divide and Conquer on Etsy. Maybe get the Cuyana and an organizer to make the interior what you want?

Funny you should mention the bag organizers. I actually have a Samorga and it has too many compartments and those compartments are “snug”. Things get lost because I can’t recall which picket it’s in. I realize that I prefer how the pockets built into bags are more “open” and I don’t want too many pockets as I only want to put my phone, agenda, and glasses in pockets. If there were a side pocket for a water bottle, great! The remaining items (wallet, cosmetic bag, key pouch) just lay in the main body. I’m sounding a bit too Goldilocks here, I know...but finding the perfect tote is vexing!

I think the first one is very practical but it needs a something on the outside . I love clean lines but the slightly saggy corners kind of blows that. You could add a scarf to it for a bit of pizazz.
The second on has more style but doesn't close . Is that important to you?

Strangely enough, I prefer a tote that doesn’t close..at least for everyday (not for travel). I drive everywhere, so security is not an issue. I once had a Kate Spade canvas tote that I carried to death. It was light, just the right size, with a light colored lining so I could find everything. Maybe I should revert to canvas..actually my beloved and beleaguered Panarea is canvas ..well that explains it.

I do! The one I actually use the most is my small leather DVF one. It is light weight closes well and still looks like a handbag. I also have the Orla Kiely one and the MBMJ leather biker backpack. The Mbmj one is stunning but I should have picked a color that went better with my wardrobe. It looks a bit heavy but when you put that one on your shoulder it is so comfortable. I need to start wearing that one soon. I actually had it ready to go to the consignment shop the other day but when I tried it on in front of the mirror I remembered why I bought it.

I'm probably quoting the wrong quoter, but OP- I'm not really a backpack-person myself, it's just that my good friend uses mini backpacks a lot, and I would always think how handy it must be to not worry about things toppling/spilling over, etc (I'm partial to satchels)- SO this post reminded me that I have a MBMJ mini biker backpack, and a Furla mini. I LOVE them- but ironically I think they're too small for all my things and always have to remove stuff to fit. So I should probably get a regular-sized one...:-s

When do you carry a backpack?

I’m thinking if I go back to walking at big parks, beaches, and visiting theme parks, I’ll want a cute backpack. But until then, I don’t know if I’m wanting a backpack for daily carry.

My coworker has a cute MZ Wallace one! So cute. But I don’t know if a backpack is necessarily me.
Me neither, but when I'm using one I LOVE it!!!

Hope everyone travels safe this Thanksgiving long weekend!

Anyone carrying any bags this weekend?

I will be between my tea rose and my Herbag.

No shopping for me, at least none that I’ve planned. We’ll see what DBF’s family says, they always take me with them.

I think I'm about to pull the trigger on a tea rose. HELP:nuts::confused1::hrmm:

So, a week and a half ago, I was in a car accident (a distracted driver rear ended me on a cloverleaf style highway entrance ramp and I ended up in a concrete barrier).

I'm perfectly fine because we weren't at top speed and I drive a Cadillac Escalade which is a tank. But, I just found out my car is totaled. :crybaby: I am sooooooooo not a "car person" but this car served me well for a decade with zero repairs needed. I'm devastated. I have no clue what car I want to buy and I hate spending money on cars.

I know I don't need a huge SUV. I got it when I was hauling my kids, their friends, sports equipment and other stuff around. So I'm flummoxed. I wish there was a car genie who could read my mind for subconscious wants and needs and poof a car into my driveway. LOL!

So, I guess my bday present this year will be a car...yippee...not :frown: instead of something more useful. Like an orange sequined micro clutch with purple & green feathers. Ugh!
Sorry to hear about your collision - glad to hear you are ok especially since your car was totaled! Your comment about kids made me laugh, I am in the ‘hauling kids, their friends and sports equipment’ phase of life. Best wishes on finding the perfect car for your current phase of life and new city!

DC and Bake, thanks for thinking of me and Mulberry!

I have to report something...I just pulled the trigger on the Oxblood small Zipped Bays!! You mentioned that the oxblood usually doesn't go on sale. I thought that if I don't get it now, I will get the Coach Market tote in Oxblood, which will be some sort of a 'replacement' purchase. So, despite there being no sale, I went for it. I placed the order at Selfridges a few minutes ago (it wouldn't go through yesterday, probably the site is clogged because of the sale). They are having a sale but there are Mulberry exclusions, my order included. But the price anyway is still good as they remove UK tax, final price maybe $200 less than US retail already inclusive of custom duties/taxes to Singapore (SG) and shipping. I had to bother my niece, well, more like her husband, for the SG shipping, lol. My niece is currently here as she just gave birth here. Her husband is in SG and will likely be in the office at the time of delivery which will likely require a signature. So they asked to use a friend's address who has a nanny that will be there all day long. When I told my niece I will order already she said I have low EQ!! I didn't realize patience/impatience is part of emotional quotient, haha, because I always thought I had good EQ level. If I didn't order now, I planned to buy in SG through my sister in January. But I couldn't wait any longer!!! Hope all goes well! And if delivered early enough next week, it will be here in the country by next weekend. I just don't know exactly when I will get it after that.

Last year I had my quest for a car. I was supposed to put my money on a Europe fund trip, but due to some happy circumstances, it became a car fund. Paid for the car in cash. Somehow helped lessened my bag purchases too!! As we always discuss, there are other life expenses than handbag purchase!! :flowers: But we are always happy to receive bags! Btw, glad you were not hurt during that accident. I spent some time comparing car specs last year, in the end I went for the compact SUV that I had a crush on ever since it was first released here.
Congratulations on your new bag. We’re looking forward to your reveal pics when you receive it!

Backpacks are so practical. I had to carry a simple clear one (stadium clear bag policy) ...what a revelation! I forgot I was carrying anything. My hands were free! I just haven’t found one that is to die for..though I haven’t looked too hard either. All the young millennial carry backpacks in lieu of briefcases or laptop bags. It is so trendy and they’re very designed; pockets, slots, etc. Now a laptop as purse ... I’d like to see some neat options

Sounds light a scrumptious And delightful Mardi Gras minaudiere! As I mentioned in a previous post, I have a mini cocktail bag problem. The more impractical and special, the more I want it. I ❤️ those things. I think it’s because they are like jewelry! I am sorry about your car sparkletastic. Perhaps you want to talk through your needs and we can try to advise.:hugs: I do know that if women designed cars, there would be a resting space for a handbag..I’d swap the armrest lift-up thing (whatever it’s called) for a seat for my handbag

For stadium policy, I actually have a clear tote and a clear Kelly pochette like bag lol.

There are so many backpacks that are designed really well and they’re in cute colors and materials.

The MZ Wallace quilted backpack my coworker has I’ve been eyeing. Then there’s some at Coach, the LV Palm Springs.

Wow, I’m excited to see your Mulberry! Your niece is so funny haha, but she still agreed to help you. I guess she is expecting a good baby gift in exchange?

Sigh, I was reflecting on Momasaurus’ experience in the MM thread and thinking that since I walked away from Rebecca Minkoff, maybe I should also walk away from Massaccesi at the same time. I’m disappointed that they would refuse to repair a zipper on a cardholder that would be relatively inexpensive to mail back to Italy. No attempt to make it right at all, not even a message from Marco personally. Yup, that doesn’t sit right with me.
Now that you mentioned baby gift I am feeling a bit guilty. I missed her child's baptism. It was in the province and I didn't go because that was the week prior to the ASEAN summit and there were expected road closures. I didn't want to be trapped! But I still owe her the gift. Much more now.

About MM, I'm a bit surprised how they handled Momasaurus case. My past experience with them has always been pleasant. When there were issues, Marco immediately offered corrections. I think MM is being hit by high shipping expense. My guess is, over time this has ballooned so sometimes they would not be as helpful as we would expect?

Oh bakeacookie do post a photo of your clear tote and clear Kelly. I saw a few of these options online but never pursued it. Thanks for the heads up on MZ Wallace. I do like their bags when people post them here.
