I don't own any white gold; I have yellow gold, sterling silver, and rose gold. Mostly sterling silver, though, because that's what I liked best up until a few years ago. I don't know about black rhodium... what is it????
I have some sterling silver and love every piece but I hate that it tarnishes. I was traveling and some earrings got horrible tarnish all of a sudden for I don't know what reason. I didn't have cleaner so I googled and guess what? Toothpaste made them look amazing. Who knew???

WG & sterling are my favorite looks wise. But I've really enjoyed going back to my YG too.

Here are pics of black rhodium. I'm not a big fan but I have a friend who is crazy about it. It's certainly a striking look for the right person IMG_9231.JPG IMG_9230.JPG

Black rhodium is certainly very dramatic, when done in the right sort of piece. I'm not sure I could carry it off. That top diamond ring is quite stunning, though.

Those are SUCH thoughtful gifts, dc, because they truly came from the heart.
I like mystery books based in London also! Have you ever read the Ann Perry series (Victorian England) about William Monk, the private investigator who has amnesia and is married to a nurse who served in the Crimean War with Florence Nightingale?
Yes both the monk and the Pitt series! Love them!

Ahh I also forgot to ask, D.C., what books did you get?

And Elaine, keep it going with the recommendations...

Should we have a thread for book recommendations for mysteries based in London?
Books I buy myself. I have read a lot of Anne Perry's books and others that are similar. There is another author whose whole series I read but I can never remember the name . Once my nook is no longer dead I can post the name. Where would you put that thread?

oooh pretty! so shiny! i love it, very whimsical.

that's awesome! it's like a car seat for your bags to keep them safe haha
beautiful!

I'm generally a white gold/silver person. For fun wear though, I lean towards dark metals... lately though, I find myself doing yellow or rose gold sparingly.

those are amazing and thoughtful gifts! Your kids are so mindful and tuned to you! my fave gift this year was from my FIL - a year subscription to apple music. Seriously the best thing so far about making my switch to an iphone. I love music but I've forgotten how long it's been since i've been so easily connected to since i rarely get a chance to listen to the radio, or have had the time to buy any music.
That is a fantastic gift. Mind you I might be stealing some of these ideas for gifts for my family next year.

These are lovely. I don't have the right skin tone to carry this off. I just received a rose gold and pink amethyst ring . I was surprised how nice it looks despite my coloring. So perhaps I just don't know till I try it.

Wow, spark, your bag collection is truly an ongoing "work in progress"! I love to watch you fine-tune your inventory... it seems as though you are circling ever-nearer toward your goal of the ideal set of bags for your needs. And of course your needs change with time, so this is a never-ending process!
Thanks, Elaine!! But, I'm headed very deliberately towards an end which is why I keep shopping my closet & (over?)analyzing my bag usage. I hate the buying / selling merry go round. I want to have the bags I need - no more and no less. That's why I'm sticking to my "to buy" list and forcing myself not to compromise.

After making this last purchase. I went over my collection again. I gave away one bag. (Yay!) And remember I was going to sell the silver Miu Miu & Proenza Schouler to buy a silver Diorama? Based on sold prices on eBay, I would take a major bath even though I bought both NEW and 50% off. Plus I read the Dior peels. :frown: So I'm holding on a silver swap indefinitely. I'm going to make myself fall back in love with the MM & PS.

So now I only have 6 bags still to swap out. At 2 - 3 bags a year, l'll be done in approx. 3 years. Then it will be a one in one out per year ONLY if I see something super special.

In the books and music subforum! [emoji4]

I'll do it later today when I'm on my home laptop.

I love London based books because I feel like I know the places haha. And because I'm obsessed with London.

Sorry, I was off for some time due to the update... everything now re-installed and working...

Happy to say that I am home again and successfully completed my own 1 bag in 8 days challenge [emoji2]

Usually, I like the hardware of jewellery, bag, belt and shoes to match, choices in my case are silver, bronze, yellow or rose gold coloured items. However, I am not always strict and I like the combination of silver and rose gold. My "challenge bag" features silver coloured hardware and I wore it with everything these past days.

Im the same in that I'll pair RG with silver or WG. But I just hate YG & WG mixed up beteeen bag hardware and jewelry.

I still have a confession to make - and it even touches the jewellery topic... Monday evening I was really tempted to buy jewellery from eBay... opted to have a look at my finances instead which indeed helped. But Tuesday I splurged! (Well, someone mentioned that 2017 has not started yet...) I bought new prescription glasses in brown/gold and two vintage gold rings at a local shop. Actually, I was a bit worried whether I will be able to wear these new glasses with my silver jewellery - we will see. Luckily, my old glasses still work, they are black/dark grey and I wore them with everything. So I can mix and match.

I do not own any bi-coloured jewellery, but I keep an eye on the Cartier trinity ring which is tri-coloured. It would go with all my other pieces and bags!

Home again, hehe, I looked at my bag shelf first thing in the morning. Realised, I have my favourite neutral colours and shapes with silver AND gold hardware, so I can always chose. One bag with rose gold hardware. Fun coloured bags and clutches only have silver hardware in my collection.

My wedding ring is yellow and my engagement bands are rose gold! They needed to be like that since the little diamonds are those corresponding colors so the matching metal color helps to bring out the fancy color in the stones. On my right hand is a ring with white gold and yellow gold on the same ring! Again the same reason, the center stone is a yellow diamond so of course it is set in yellow and then the side stones are white diamonds so white gold on the rest of the ring. So I'm covered with all the gold colors all the time on my hands! But otherwise I wear mostly exclusively yellow gold because of my coloring, it just looks prettier. Sometimes to be wild I'll wear silver jewelry or none at all and then I feel more comfortable wearing bags with silver hardware. I don't love silver hardware on bags since this is the exception and not that rule so it rarely matches and I do not love wearing gold on me and my bag being set off with silver hardware. However, I find if the silver hardware is almost white I don't mind that much. It's when it looks even a bit gray or steel that I get turned off to pairing it with myself in gold jewelry. I also prefer yellow gold hardware on bags to be very pale rather than super yellow. So I guess the bottom line is that I love pale bling on my bags, almost white in color, rather than going towards brass or steel in appearance.
In contrast gunmetal is slowly growing on me! I suddenly love the way it looks with light, cool toned leather like nude/blush.

I normally wear white gold now, though back in the day, I bought more yellow gold as that was more in fashion when I started investing in jewelry. On a daily basis, for work, I wear South Sea pearl earrings (we're in the South Seas anyway) which is set in white gold but is not visible. I used to just wear white gold bracelet only, but now I mix it (at the same time) with a light yellow gold bangle. This way, I will not have to worry about matching/not matching bag hardware to my jewelry. Depends on the bag hardware, I will adjust my necklace. Or sometimes, I just don't wear one. Matching bag hardware to jewelry is no longer a problem, but sometimes the problem is the shoe hardware! I put on my shoes the last, and sometimes I don't anticipate the mismatch in hardware.

msd- which is your favorite of your small totes and which one holds it's shape when empty? I was looking on line at the gigi Ny and the bally small bernina tote. I was trying to remember why the medium bally did not work besides the size. I would love to get the tote soon and then buy nothing in January at all.
