Other then Jewerly and bags what are the best gifts you received this entire year. Dd knows I love my little mutt and was always guessing what breeds could be in him. So without me knowing she swabbed him and had his DNA done. My oldest son knows I read a lot of mystery books based in London. I mentioned once I wished I had a map so I could see where all these places are. So he bought me a reproduction of an old London map. My youngest remembered that in summer I pointed out a little monchichi monkey that I thought was so cute and had mention that I still had outfits for one from over twenty years ago. He found it and got it for me. I think my kids gave me the best gifts. They may seem odd to you but I love them. What did you receive that you loved? Was it a special note? A dinner out just when you needed it?

I don't have much rose gold. But, it's really pretty. I like black rhodium on other people but find it too harsh on me.

I can get pretty kooky trying to match my jewelry and handbag hardware. I try not to worry but it can drive me nuts not to match. This is weird because I don't worry about matching my shoes to my bag. I always coordinate them but only match if it just happens to look best for the outfit. And I break other fashion "rules" by wearing winter white after Labor Day, etc. So I don't get why the hardware / jewelry not matching makes me crazy :confused1: That's actually why I picked black hardware for my black YSL workhorse. I didn't want to have a mini panic attack every morning as I picked out jewelry.
I am the same way but I am working on it. With the exception of yesterday I am buying bags with less visible hardware.

I love my jewelry in silver the most, but my more expensive pieces are always get made in yellow gold. Everyone around me usually encourage me on getting the gold one. Even the jeweler will just say they'll help me coat it into platinum color later, but inside need to be made of gold.

I feel indifferent toward rose gold and only have one watch in it. I just don't think it fits my personality.

Wow, your kids picked great things for you! When will you find out what breeds your dog is?

For me:
My London snowglobe! And the pusheen stuff too. [emoji4] as fab as my designer stuff is, I also love cute things and those were super cute.

Oh, Liz, WHAT a shame! Terrible to be sick on Christmas. Are you all better now? I hope you enjoy your belated Christmas, and also good luck with the packing! When do you move into your new house????
I'm much better, thank you! We are planning to move in near the end of January! Been busy painting the house and we will be getting the flooring done soon (hopefully)!! We are DIY-ing quite a bit of the improvements and it's been both fun and exhausting.
What is everyone's preference for jewelry metal color? Yellow? White? Rose? Black rhodium? I used to wear only YG. Then about 15ish years ago it was ONLY WG or silver. Now I like everything but the black rhodium. I like mixing it up.
I have a few pieces in rose and yellow and those are my fav! Some of the pieces that are passed down from my mom are a bit too yellow for me but I still keep and wear because I love that they belonged to my mom. I wouldn't mind adding a few simply pieces in silver, since I do feel weird about wearing yellow gold with silver hardware bags!

Oh my gosh, dc, your children are so thoughtful and sweet!! This post made me smile so much. I really loved that gift of the purse pouch I had posted about. It meant a lot to me that my friend remembered me saying that I would love to have one (just a passing comment a couple months ago). The same friend knew we were starting to paint our house on boxing day and that I was still recovering, and she brought us lunch to the house! Her thoughtfulness is definitely the best gift I got this Christmas :)

She already got and she put it in an album for me. He is predominately beagle and Pekingese mix and then lesser amount of terrier group and even smaller sporting group mix. I really like your favorites as well.

Your friend is a keeper. Purse holder is great but bringing you lunch is the best.

So sweet. It's the thoughtful gifts that matter the most.

I have some YG pieces that I'd like to change to WG but jewelers tell me that it won't work well whether it's plated in rhodium or platinum. It will wear off and you'll see spots of yellow. So I'm just embracing them as is.

I don't own any white gold; I have yellow gold, sterling silver, and rose gold. Mostly sterling silver, though, because that's what I liked best up until a few years ago. I don't know about black rhodium... what is it????

Those are SUCH thoughtful gifts, dc, because they truly came from the heart.
I like mystery books based in London also! Have you ever read the Ann Perry series (Victorian England) about William Monk, the private investigator who has amnesia and is married to a nurse who served in the Crimean War with Florence Nightingale?

I'm keeping the Knomo laptop bag. My new, smaller laptop works. Yay!!! I'm also going to get a laptop backpack. They may not look as professional but when traveling I need function.

And...I have one more "in" for the year that should be here on Friday. I'm super thrilled about this bag! It's on my vetted and analyzed "to buy" list. I wasn't expecting to get it for a year or two but it popped up now. I'll share pics and once its authenticated. :p

I'll have to update my year summary and my next year's goals. I've returned and bought bags since then. Whoops!

Wow, spark, your bag collection is truly an ongoing "work in progress"! I love to watch you fine-tune your inventory... it seems as though you are circling ever-nearer toward your goal of the ideal set of bags for your needs. And of course your needs change with time, so this is a never-ending process!

Ahh I also forgot to ask, D.C., what books did you get?

And Elaine, keep it going with the recommendations...

Should we have a thread for book recommendations for mysteries based in London?

I hope this will be the last buy of the year. [emoji4] Can I blame Spark for the lead? ;)

I bought this! The strap from Kate Spade and it comes with the tassels. After I saw Spark posted it here, I went to their site and I found this one. I like that it's glittering and blue. I figure if the length is right, it'd be good for all my Bal. I rarely wear them now coz the strap length dictate me to only carry it on the side and with DD moving, it doesn't fit my lifestyle anymore, but I still love them and want to wear them. I called the boutique to see if it's in yet, and the answer was no. Anyway, I dropped by the store unplanned and voila! It's there and they're having a sale! So, I tried it on and I think I can wear it crossbody with the Bal. I really hope to put it in good use next year..

The only gripe is that the glitter can fall. They may be gone or go bald in some spot. But I think that means I'd already have a good time using it. ;)
oooh pretty! so shiny! i love it, very whimsical.

One of my Christmas gifts this year was this little purse pouch from a friend! It was a pleasant surprise and now I finally have a proper space for my bags while I drive.
that's awesome! it's like a car seat for your bags to keep them safe haha
Sharing a new purchase. It's not a handbag but it makes me feel happy. And one of my focused purchase goals for 2017 is to fill in a couple of gaps in my jewelry basics so it's on "task".

I had a store credit and it was on sale so I got it for a song.:happydance: My new to me WG & diamond bangle - perfect for casual wear. It was hard to get a good picture so bear with me. LOL! View attachment 3558577

I'm generally a white gold/silver person. For fun wear though, I lean towards dark metals... lately though, I find myself doing yellow or rose gold sparingly.

those are amazing and thoughtful gifts! Your kids are so mindful and tuned to you! my fave gift this year was from my FIL - a year subscription to apple music. Seriously the best thing so far about making my switch to an iphone. I love music but I've forgotten how long it's been since i've been so easily connected to since i rarely get a chance to listen to the radio, or have had the time to buy any music.
