2015 resolution - shopping from my own bag and wallet collection. Any one else?

For 2015, I resolve to not add to my collection at all. I plan to add 1 purse only - something leather and in a brilliant shade of blue. I have my eye on a Burberry but not sure if I can pull the trigger (I've only bought contemporary brands). If and when I buy I will have to get rid of something... Also hoping to buy less clothes and shoes too. I have a weakness for shoes😁

Hi everyone!

I've been a long time lurker and occasional poster, but after reading all of your inspirational resolutions I decided to join in!

I didn't have a resolution for 2014, really, aside from thinking "I want to slow down" (relative to 2013). 2013 was when I started my bag collection with Coach and Kate Spade, ending it with my first Mansur Gavriel (~7 bags that year, plus a few SLGs). 2014 saw the addition of three new MG bags and one Coach metallic gold mini borough bag that I just purchased from the outlets. If I add up all of my purchases and gifts, I currently have 14 bags.

My 2015 resolution is to keep my bag collection at 15 flat. Aside from one new bag, some in my current collection will have to go if I want to buy more. I like keeping a manageable collection so that I'll reach for every single bag I have, and I feel like the right number for me is around 15!

Good luck everyone with your resolutions! I'll chime in with pictures here and there from now on.
Can't wait to see ur bags! :) I think 15 is a grt number, my goal is to get down to 25 but I think that will take a while (maybe yrs haha)
Hello everyone! I would like to join the 2015 thread and work on downsizing my closet and weed out the bags I don't use. I want to buy a max of two bags but not sure what yet. I look forward to a great year and staying strong. YES to strength in numbers...😃
Looking forward to seeing that orange beauty of yours!
Wow, hard to believe it's almost 2015! I'm happy to find friends, names I recognize from other threads and new ones too!!

It was fun to try to find my "purse resolutions" for 2014, and I did. It was to add 1 or 2 MJ quilted wallets to my collection. This was accomplished; a quilted Lex in cognac and another in black. Both have become major workhorses in my collection. 3 other slg's got added along the way too, all very functional. My only other resolution was that my purchases be well thought out; not impulse buys. With a lot of help from the members on the 2014 thread I think I managed to accomplish this too! I am happy with all of my 2014 bag and slg purchases.

So how did I do? 4 bags in, 3 out. 5 slg's in, 7 out, yay!

2014 was the year of the major closet purge, especially with clothing and shoes!

I plan to add one "free" bag in 2015. If I add any others I am committing to the one in, one out rule; we'll see how this goes. ;)

I don't plan on adding any more slg's, and this may actually be the hardest for me! They're so darn cute, soo small; I can just hide them in my closet and it's almost like they're not even there! They also feel to me like a stealth or secret luxury; unless it's someone like a tpf'er, no one else even notices what it is, lol!
I had such a problem with slgs before because they ARE so cute and I loved stacking them in their boxes and looking at them. Had way to many and in 2013 really downsized and am really happy with what I'm left with. They get way more use now and that makes me even happier :)
2014 resolutions:

1. Keep clothing purchases to $250 a month or $3000 the entire year - Did ok on this. With only a few days of 2014 remaining, I've spent about $2,000 on clothing the entire year.

2. Limit to only one pair of footwear per month or 12 the entire year - MAJOR MAJOR FAIL. i've purchased 15 pairs this year (no designer pair, but still)

2015 resolutions

1. Limit clothing purchases to $100 a month, or $1,200 the entire year - this is doable especially since I hope to learn from my mistakes in 2014. I bought a lot of outerwear and tops, need to cut back on those.

2. Only 6 pairs of footwear limit in 2015, and cannot buy unless I retire or give away a pair of shoes from my current closetful

3. Only two bags in 2015, and only when I've lost my target of 30 pounds.

4. Bag closet purge! I currently have around 50 purses (half premier designers). It's difficult to sell bags where I live so i have to find a way to cut back somehow.
Grt goals! I have similar wardrobe goals too, looking forward to keeping strong together!

It's always grt to hear when someone gets their one bag their aiming for, I always get super excited for them! Hope u get the Burberry or find that perfect shade of blue!

I'm in!

I ended the year the way I started it: with a BV bag,

2014 has been crazy in terms of buying and selling bags - I would have to check my bank statements because I am not able to remember the insane number of bags that I ordered, purchased, returned and sold!

My goal for 2015 is to get down to 5 bags:
- one bag for work (I currently use my Tumi tote which is working fine)
- Gucci disco bag in burgundy metallic: I am not sure about the color (bought in the sale), but if I like the feel of the bag I might get it in a different color
- BV hobo bag (quite large, if it feels overwhelming I might exchange it for a medium Veneta)
- Marc Jacobs Large Single: my only black bag
- my H bag that I never use but simply cannot part with

I am not counting my 3 Longchamp Le Pliage totes as I use them for travels, to yoga class and for bad weather in general...

I own one wallet (BV) and one card holder (Tumi) which is fine for me.

My goal is not only to sell or gift what I no longer use but also to not buy a new bag or slg except for a nice cosmetics case: either BV or LV epi.

I will finish my MBA in 2015 and will reward myself with an Hermès CSGM.

And now I will see how my resolutions work out.....

I participated a lot in the 2014 resolutions thread bc I purged like whoa through the year. I was recently married & also moved to a new city so trimmed down my wardrobe in a major way. No need to haul things that I don't wear across state lines!

My 2015 resolution is to shop in moderation. And to make sure any new items I add are truly different than the things I already own. I do have room in my heart (and closet!) for a new red bag and a laptop size bag but otherwise resolve to stay accountable to whether anything beyond that which catches my eye falls into the category of frivolous wants or forever bags ❤️

I'll be sure to share pictures as I use them! And I'm sure you can get there - everyone has a different number of bags they're comfortable with, so I like to think that it's both a matter of time and sorting out your bag needs!

Hey gals! Can't believe that we are starting the 2015 thread!

I loved participating in the 2014 thread and look forward to another year with y'all! I'm really happy with the progress I made in 2014 and want to keep that up. I still have a few bags that need to be purged in 2015, so that is a definite goal. I would like to add a light colored bag for spring/summer, then anything else will probably fall under the one in/one out rule.

The Gucci bag is beautiful but the color isn't for me. It is already sitting in the box ready to be shipped back, but I will get one in a reddish-brown color. It seems perfect for travel!

Go figure! I lurked a lot in the 2014 thread, and spent a few days updating my goals and plans for 2015. I don't have any specific numbers for what I'll buy or sell, but I went absolutely bananas buying from August 2013 - February 2014. After that I toned down and started selling, but also picked up the best Chanels over the rest of the year. There was something about getting my most recent Chanel that just made me put a supreme halt on purchasing.

I've truly purged my purse collection and learned to "look, but not buy". My most recent purchases either stay on a wishlist to see if I will buy them before they sell out, or are much needed. I will see what 2015 brings, but an obsession with purses will only expand online, not in my house!

I'm in. 2014 saw me selling most of my high end bags to fund vehicle repairs, roofing supplies, and replacing defunct appliances. Those I didn't sell (and treasured most) were gifted to my DD. the bags I now have are all mid range contemporary designer bags.

2015 will be a year of change as my DH is retiring from his job in January. With 18 bags in my even more recently downsized collection, I have more than enough bags to resolve not to buy any more bags in the upcoming year.

My goals for 2015 are:

1) To only buy shoes to replace worn ones. This is a hard one for me. I love shoes even more than I love bags.
2) No more bags. I have enough bags, even though it never seems that way when I spy a "good deal" on a lovely bag.
3) Clean out my closet of things I don't use, even if they cost a lot and I feel bad about it. I need to give those things to people who will use them.
4) Stop impulse buying, even at the thrift shop. I *need* very little. I *want* seemingly everything that I deem a "good deal".

Yes! This right here. I often impulse buy online. The thrill is great, but once the purchased item arrives, it wears off quickly and I'm looking for something else in no time.

I'm actually looking to buy a lot of clothes this year--nearly all for work though. I read an article in Elle this summer that really spoke to me, lol. Basically the author explained how at the age of 35, she had a closet chock full of clothes that she bought in her 20s that did her no good. Lots of thrift store finds, fast fashion like H&M, etc, and one-offs from the sales rack at expensive stores. Therefore, despite the closet being quite full, she often had 'nothing to wear.'

I've already donated two huge bags of clothes this past year, but I still have so much more to go through! I won't be impulse buying online, but going to stores and trying things on and taking my time to find clothes that flatter my body.

I'm still allowing myself a few bags this year, but they will all be researched thoroughly ahead of time. No more than 6, so one every other month at the most. I want to primarily shop my closet for bags, and figure out what needs to go by the end of next year.

So nice to hear all these goals for 2015!! I am really looking forward to seeing everyone's beautiful bags and shopping in our collections together! I just added a Coach borough and I am counting that towards my total for 2015 even though it is a bit early. So going to try to add no more than two more bags in 2015.

I'm definitely in because I need to hold myself accountable and stop impulse buying. Last year, I bought, sold, and returned countless handbags/slgs. I got burned twice with final sale purchases and now they just sit in my closet as reminders of my reckless behavior. I did, however, truly start my handbag collection and now I have bags that I love and adore. My humble collection includes: 2 Coach, 2 Longchamp, 2 Kate Spade, and 1 LV.

My goal for 2015 is to not add more than 4 bags to my collection: I want a cute floral bag for spring/summer and another LV in the DA print. I also want to add 2 winter staples: a nice black leather bag as well as either a brown, gray, or navy blue leather handbag. Hopefully since I have something to focus on, I won't get distracted by "filler" purchases. It's going to be hard but I hope I can stick to my goal.
