Yes! This right here. I often impulse buy online. The thrill is great, but once the purchased item arrives, it wears off quickly and I'm looking for something else in no time.

This. I know this so well. We'll do better next year. :smile1:

Also, I think your point about taking the time to try things on in person is excellent. It's so easy to fall into the trap of buying things online and not returning them them because they're "good enough" for the price you paid, and then never wearing them.

I totally agree. Sometimes I also keep purses that really don't suit me because they were a good deal or a bargain I fear that I will not find again. I have to get it through my head that something that I won't carry is never a good deal.

Hi everyone, am very keen on joining in for 2015 :)

I didn't have a resolution for 2014 as I only really got into handbags this year (I also have a major weakness for shoes albeit high street) however I bought and sold many and only feel that I am really understanding what works for me now.

Currently my collection consists of:
- Suede Fossil cross body bag
- MBMJ Goodbye Columbus tote in black with brass hw
- Fossil Sydney satchel in cobalt blue with silver hw
- Michael Kors Selma satchel in dark dune (taupe) with gold hw
- Fossil Sydney satchel in magenta with gold hw
- Mulberry Bayswater in tan with gold hw
- Prada B1874 Saffiano tote in Cornflower blue and black with gold hw
- Fossil Sydney work bag in tan with silver hw
- French Connection black clutch bag with silver hw

My resolutions are to:

- Spend less than £1200 during 2015 on clothes.
I'm starting to use accessories more, like scarves and jewellery, to change the look of existing outfits. I also document daily my outfits and accessories using Stylebook, which is also handy for working out the cost per wear for my clothes and bags :) I need to shop from my wardrobe as much as possible.

- Decide if existing bags can be purged.
I used to use the Mulberry Bayswater all of the time for work as I could just about fit my laptop in, since I purchased the Fossil work bag I haven't used the Bayswater at all. The Fossil work bag is so light and when I go into the office I use that and usually one of the Sydney satchels or my Michael Kors Selma to keep make-up, purse, hairbrush etc in.
The Prada Saffiano tote was my HG....however....it was an impulse purchase at the time and I hadn't thought through the practicality. I have only used the bag a couple of times, to be honest I feel self conscious with it but also I have difficulty fitting my essentials in which hasn't made it practical. Perhaps I should have gone for a larger size with zips and in black, am considering selling but unsure how to go about it as it's an expensive item.
I love the practicality of the MBMJ Goodbye Columbus tote however I'm not sure if I am in love with it, perhaps I need to use it more before I make a decision.

- Be conscious of the gaps in my handbag collection.
I would still like to add a red leather bag that I'll love and use for years to come, a basic black leather tote with silver hw (have my eye on the Michael Kors Lana), a shopping tote, a hobo bag and also Longchamp Le Pliage for shopping and travel. I only have 1 SLG, a leather purse from Dune, which I am looking to replace. Possibly with an LV Zippy Compact Wallet NM in Epi Leather, am happy to make in investment in a long lasting wallet but would need to save for it! That's 5 x handbags and 1 x wallet.

- One in one out!
Anything beyond the above I need to invoke the one in one out policy and also purge my wardrobe of items to raise additional funds.

Apologies for war and peace, am really looking forward to getting to know everyone and will also be looking for support to stick to my resolutions and also advice (especially with the second one). Here's to 2015!

Yes, we WILL do better next year! And I'll start remembering that there will ALWAYS be sales. So, it makes no sense to buy something unless I truly, truly love it.

I'm looking forward to the new year. Though I'm trying to do some last minute tweaking of my bags before then.

But yeah, there's also three more days left. :graucho:

I bought my Chanel GST with GH yesterday! I was quite lucky because my SA sent an assistant into the basement to get the last one.

My resolution for 2015: Buy no more bags (besides, I have no more room in my bag cupboard!)

And now I'm going to rotate all my bags for 2015. I have 10 premier designer bags. I have a few contemporary designer bags that I will use occasionally, but they are mainly because I don't want to let them go

Wow, congrats!! Way to sneak her in before the new year haha. I can't wait to see her on the thread!

I'm in!

I ended the year the way I started it: with a BV bag,

2014 has been crazy in terms of buying and selling bags - I would have to check my bank statements because I am not able to remember the insane number of bags that I ordered, purchased, returned and sold!

My goal for 2015 is to get down to 5 bags:
- one bag for work (I currently use my Tumi tote which is working fine)
- Gucci disco bag in burgundy metallic: I am not sure about the color (bought in the sale), but if I like the feel of the bag I might get it in a different color
- BV hobo bag (quite large, if it feels overwhelming I might exchange it for a medium Veneta)
- Marc Jacobs Large Single: my only black bag
- my H bag that I never use but simply cannot part with

I am not counting my 3 Longchamp Le Pliage totes as I use them for travels, to yoga class and for bad weather in general...

I own one wallet (BV) and one card holder (Tumi) which is fine for me.

My goal is not only to sell or gift what I no longer use but also to not buy a new bag or slg except for a nice cosmetics case: either BV or LV epi.

I will finish my MBA in 2015 and will reward myself with an Hermès CSGM.

And now I will see how my resolutions work out.....
Welcome! and good luck with your goals! =)

I participated a lot in the 2014 resolutions thread bc I purged like whoa through the year. I was recently married & also moved to a new city so trimmed down my wardrobe in a major way. No need to haul things that I don't wear across state lines!

My 2015 resolution is to shop in moderation. And to make sure any new items I add are truly different than the things I already own. I do have room in my heart (and closet!) for a new red bag and a laptop size bag but otherwise resolve to stay accountable to whether anything beyond that which catches my eye falls into the category of frivolous wants or forever bags ❤️
Ooh a red bag. Have you seen the red bag thread? There is a red bal front and centre and every time I see it, I fall in love.

Hey gals! Can't believe that we are starting the 2015 thread!

I loved participating in the 2014 thread and look forward to another year with y'all! I'm really happy with the progress I made in 2014 and want to keep that up. I still have a few bags that need to be purged in 2015, so that is a definite goal. I would like to add a light colored bag for spring/summer, then anything else will probably fall under the one in/one out rule.
2014 went by so fast! can't wait to see what you find for a light colored bag.

Go figure! I lurked a lot in the 2014 thread, and spent a few days updating my goals and plans for 2015. I don't have any specific numbers for what I'll buy or sell, but I went absolutely bananas buying from August 2013 - February 2014. After that I toned down and started selling, but also picked up the best Chanels over the rest of the year. There was something about getting my most recent Chanel that just made me put a supreme halt on purchasing.

I've truly purged my purse collection and learned to "look, but not buy". My most recent purchases either stay on a wishlist to see if I will buy them before they sell out, or are much needed. I will see what 2015 brings, but an obsession with purses will only expand online, not in my house!
This - took me years to engrain into my head and I must say 2014 has been my most successful year by far. Can't wait to see your Chanels here =)

:whiteflag:

I'm in. 2014 saw me selling most of my high end bags to fund vehicle repairs, roofing supplies, and replacing defunct appliances. Those I didn't sell (and treasured most) were gifted to my DD. the bags I now have are all mid range contemporary designer bags.

2015 will be a year of change as my DH is retiring from his job in January. With 18 bags in my even more recently downsized collection, I have more than enough bags to resolve not to buy any more bags in the upcoming year.
Welcome! I was just lurking on your island and I love it there! I love your plaid coat - it's fantastic!

Yes! This right here. I often impulse buy online. The thrill is great, but once the purchased item arrives, it wears off quickly and I'm looking for something else in no time.

I'm actually looking to buy a lot of clothes this year--nearly all for work though. I read an article in Elle this summer that really spoke to me, lol. Basically the author explained how at the age of 35, she had a closet chock full of clothes that she bought in her 20s that did her no good. Lots of thrift store finds, fast fashion like H&M, etc, and one-offs from the sales rack at expensive stores. Therefore, despite the closet being quite full, she often had 'nothing to wear.'

I've already donated two huge bags of clothes this past year, but I still have so much more to go through! I won't be impulse buying online, but going to stores and trying things on and taking my time to find clothes that flatter my body.

I'm still allowing myself a few bags this year, but they will all be researched thoroughly ahead of time. No more than 6, so one every other month at the most. I want to primarily shop my closet for bags, and figure out what needs to go by the end of next year.
This pretty much sums up what I have been doing in 2014 - discovering my style and refining, and replacing cheaper items with better quality pieces. I hope you share your progress here with your closet purge as a lot of us were/are going through it too.

So nice to hear all these goals for 2015!! I am really looking forward to seeing everyone's beautiful bags and shopping in our collections together! I just added a Coach borough and I am counting that towards my total for 2015 even though it is a bit early. So going to try to add no more than two more bags in 2015.
The borough is such a gorgeous piece - I really wish it worked for me. I'll enjoy it when you use it =)

I'm looking forward to the new year. Though I'm trying to do some last minute tweaking of my bags before then.
I'm starting to think about what I might want to let go for next year already and have the bags I didn't use at all in 2014, lined up first.

I'm definitely in because I need to hold myself accountable and stop impulse buying. Last year, I bought, sold, and returned countless handbags/slgs. I got burned twice with final sale purchases and now they just sit in my closet as reminders of my reckless behavior. I did, however, truly start my handbag collection and now I have bags that I love and adore. My humble collection includes: 2 Coach, 2 Longchamp, 2 Kate Spade, and 1 LV.

My goal for 2015 is to not add more than 4 bags to my collection: I want a cute floral bag for spring/summer and another LV in the DA print. I also want to add 2 winter staples: a nice black leather bag as well as either a brown, gray, or navy blue leather handbag. Hopefully since I have something to focus on, I won't get distracted by "filler" purchases. It's going to be hard but I hope I can stick to my goal.
I think its' much easier to stay on track when you have a better idea of what you are looking for. I'm also looking for a gray bag - the perfect shade has yet to come along!

This - soooo me and I found stylebook helped me so much. I love looking at a leaner wardrobe and have been quite diligent in using my accessories to 'up' an outfit or give it a different feel. I still need to practice, but at least I'm using them more. One step at a time. I also gave myself a monetary limit for clothing and am excited about it! This year, I didn't do that but I tracked all my purchases and I think I will be find with $1,000 for the year - not including any major investment pieces (but I don't have any (off the top of my head) in mind)

2015:
> WALLET!!! DOWNSIZE MY WALLET WALLET!!!!!
> If I decide to buy something from a boutique, it better just be a dang wallet. I get *one*.
> No more restorations unless they are veeeeeery simple!!
> Find some dust bags for their corresponding brands. Not overpay for them either!
> Make my own custom shapers for my lovely purses~
> Do not buy anything I don't immediately fall in love with. Any hint of regret or indecisiveness and it stays behind!
> Try to make some creative mod shots
> Did I mention finding a wallet?
