Your New Dooney: A mini reveal thread!

I walk with a cane. Have been for 3 years (have a torn hip muscle which can't be fixed, and had several back surgeries). A shoulder bag works best for me. Once in a while if I take my rollater walker I'll carry a crossbody. If we go to a restaurant I might take a large bag, since it's just in and out. lol.
Sorry about your hip…I’m still working on my balance so I really need my cane close to me. I did try a shoulder bag but my are is further away from my body than I would like. Making me feel like I’m tipping over.

I just ordered this suede satchel with a Florentine leather trim, as I've really been wanting a suede bag for autumn! I was really struck by how gorgeous this is...

I can totally understand.... when fall comes around, I also crave a suede handbag...
and Dooney does great suede. Enjoy your new satchel.

And remember, the
style is designed so the zipper top area fold down and creates a smile. I can understand
not storing the bags that way, to avoid pressure marks on the front of the bag....
but why oh why does Dooney photograph the bags with the zipper standing up?
To me it's a less appealing look and I see it all to often on the web site and also
on QVC.

It's hard at times. I have a rollator that I can sit in. My husband got it from the VA. Love it. Only use it once in a while, but so nice when you go out and a lot of stores don't have a place to sit.

I love this bag. I really wanted a suede camera bag when they were on sale, but now they are much higher. Then I ask myself "Do I really need this?" lol. But if they go back down in price I'm ordering the yellow one.

Several of the handbags I ordered from ILD over the last few days have
arrived. Those that ship from CT arrive to me really quickly.
I'm happy to report that all the bags are in very good condition.
Despite many of them being classified as clearance/no return
(which concerned me), they all appear to be brand new and never
used. All but one Alto was clearly still in factory wrapping.
That Alto, labeled 1 of 1 was in perfect condition, but not in the
typical Alto wrapping.

All in all, I'm very pleased. The sale prices were great and I
would have purchased each of these bags if I had been standing
in the store and could have looked them over in person first.
Pictures below. (No, I didn't need any of them) 🙄🙄🙄

The lining Dooney is using on some of the handbags is different.
The Flo 38 and Denison Croco have a red 'cotton' lining.... but it's
much stiffer and makes noise when handled. It's not a show stopper,
but it's not an upgrade in my opinion. I don't know how we figure this
out for future purchases, if it matters to some.

I am so glad you love your new (not needed) handbags. They are gorgeous! And really a diverse group. I love variety. The Denison steals my heart. And what about that lining?! I just unwrapped a new burgundy pebble grain large sac and heard a strange noise. It sounded like a thick plastic sheet rustling inside. I thought it was the leather and started to sweat. I then thought Dooney had inserted or left a plastic liner between the red cotton lining and leather. It turns out it was the lining itself! Had I known that I do not think I would have ordered it. Since I was two days past the return date and I had bought it at $149 I am keeping it. I was going to jump on here and ask if anyone has ever returned an item past the date. What would they do? Send it back to you? But how strange. And why? And now you say the plastic is in the Florentine? Noooooo. Perhaps the bags are now waterproof inside

LID: there is no content info on the material used in the bags.... at least I couldn't find anything in the bags or the online descriptions. And , luckly the lining issue was
NOT in the Altos.

The 2 bags I noticed the thicker more plasticy red lining were
the Denison Croco Barlow and the Flo 38 Satchel. The linings don't feel coated,
more like the fiber is a blend with something added... for stain resistance? for
durability? to reduce cost since cotton is expensive? It's not like the plastic coated
linings they used to use in wallets and cosmetic cases. This new lining is thick,
dense, and looks like cotton.... until you touch it or move it about. Then you can
easily see that it's different.... it's stiff, makes noise, not as good as what was
used before.

The last 2 handbags from my recent order have arrived.
I'm relieved and happy to report that they are also in great condition
and all factory wrapped, despite some being on clearance/no returns.

(I don't get upset if an item isn't factory wrapped or even if it is a return...
as long as it's in good condition, I'm ok with it. After all, in a store,
handbags are handled by others before we buy them. And I've learned that
factory wrapped doesn't always mean perfect in the world of mass production.)

The key for me when buying items on sale is that their condition be good enough
that if I was in the store, I would still buy them at the sale price, after evaluating
any imperfections. And I'm picky.
That said, I had no issues with the 6 handbags I bought.

Here are the last 2 Maritime drawstring and Florentine Amelie in Chestnut.
(the pics of the other 4 are a few conversations above)

I couldn't resist the Amelie because it's a Florentine handbag 😍
and has the cream color leather lining.
Dooney doesn't do those linings anymore, and while they are delicate
(thin fabric and light color), the leather lining is so elegant. I use
pouches for everything (especially keys, pens, hand sanitizer, etc.
when I carry a bag with a light color leather lining. The only issue I
have with the Amelie is that it is small.... a small medium bag, in my
world. I knew all this before ordering. But.... I still had to have it.
The Flo leather is lovely and thick. It's an old school Flo handbag.
Maybe I can eliminate some of the backup supplies I lug around when
ever I leave the house, even for a few hours. Do I really need to carry
my eye glasses case even when the glasses are on my face the entire time?

Love your new bags Lavenderjunkie! Great haul.
I just checked my new Florentine Gracie hobo and it has the new lining. I don’t mind a bit of noise in my bags so as long as it holds up, I’m okay with it.
Enjoy your Gracie and keep us posted on how the new lining works out.
I don't know when I'll be using the 2 bags I got that have that lining.
