Large Lady Dior tote (the seasonal one from a couple of years ago with brushed gold rectangular HW, flap, wide strap). Bought it at Saks after I regretted not snapping up the last one at Bloomingdale's Dior boutique. I thought it was just the floor model (it was missing the booklet) but I realized later, after I got over the cold I had at the time, that it was a return and that the inside reeked of perfume.

Great bag, wish I had followed my instincts at Bloomingdales.

You couldn’t return it after you realized that it was a return with perfume smell?

I had already used it, tossed the tags, etc. I felt dumb about the whole thing and thought I could "fix" the perfume smell (of course I tried everything and nothing worked).

I had used Saks points for the bag so it was less painful (a bit) than if I had paid actual cash, and I was able to consign it after facing reality (and TBH I am much more sensitive to fragrances than most people). All in all a learning experience for me.

Massaccesi little Valerie. On a closer inspection there are a few minor quality issues that I am not happy about. On top of that bright scarlet red with gold hardware looks tacky to me now. I think I got too excited and then made a mistake. The fault was mine. The regular sized Valerie turned out great though.

I think I would have liked little Valerie more if the hardware parts were silver instead of gold. I now have learned since that prefer silver over gold unless the leather is black or brown/tan.

I bought a Mulberry Darley in 2019 from an airport duty free. It was my first high priced bag purchase and I was so happy. After about two months though I noticed the soft gold turn lock had changed color to silver. It looks terrible now even though the rest of the bag has no wear. There are no Mulberry stores where I live so I couldn’t return or exchange.

That's so disappointing! And your sad experience made me remember a similar issue with a Chanel bag.

I bought a half-moon WOC at the mothership and was so excited (it was rare at the time) that I didn't inspect it carefully. When I got back to the U.S. I realized that the flap was sewn on crooked and the reinforcement underneath the embossed CCs showed through. (This was just before we started to hear a lot of chatter about QC problems with Chanel bags.)

I have heard mixed things about Mulberry quality. Sorry you had that happen to a bag you were so happy and excited about.

That’s awful, I would never have thought it would happen with Chanel.

My Louis Vuitton Graceful PM. When I got it I opened the box, thought it looked perfect and then put it back in the box till Spring. Spring comes, I get it out, go to put my iPad in and realize it doesn't really fit nor is the bag as big as it had somehow seemed to me. I guess the bag wasn't really the regret as much as me not closely looking at it till way past the return window.

This has been interesting to read, lots of different bags.

My most regretful purchase is probably a recent one, which is the Chanel north-south boy bag. I’d tried this on and then continued wanting it for over a year. Finally got it and immediately upon using it realized that it doesn’t hold has much as it should for its size, because of the divider. So frustrating. Have it up for sale and will probably end up taking a loss.

I have the Chanel Boy old medium in black. Do I like it? Yes. Do I use it very often? Not at all.

I work in the essential sector, so I still go to my office once a week. I don’t use my Chanel bag at work, just doesn’t seem appropriate for my setting. But, for now, there are no gatherings with friends. In a way, it’s collecting dust. Too expensive to be sitting there collecting dust.

My most recent purchase I regret has to be my last 4 handbags I purchased off different secondhand sites. All the bags were damaged and not as described and one of them had sanitary pads in them. One of them described as being from a smoke free home but had a lighter inside of it. Right now I am on a bag ban but I am no longer buying anything that is secondhand. Its just not for me.
