So exiting... Major congrats to you BJ!
HOORAY! This is the best CW, with the possible exception of the one I have (LOL) - navy with some purple. I had BOTH of the dipdyes, they were impossible and murky. The reissues did nothing for me, although I bought a fuschia men's pocket square. So MAJOR congratulations! What a good feeling. How how about some action shots?
Thank you both.
Action shots will come eventually lol

"Underwhelmed" doesn't sound the best first description of an HG scarf

I only have one (90) and I am very happy with mine.

I bought another but returned the second (something I seldom do) and 'upgraded' to a moussie of the season because I didn't like the second as much as the first. I don't want to keep anything second-best. Cws can make all the difference, sometimes they give a totally fresh approach to the same design/format and sometimes they just don't suit us (personally) as well.

I totally agree! I don't like keeping stuff around if it never gets worn, so I think I will give myself some time and if I end up not wearing the scarf it's gonna go to a different owner :amuse: At the moment it's living in my closet to be honest, but we're in lockdown here so there's not a lot of chances to try and use it.

Yes. Give it a little time and don't feel guilty or anything. You can probably recoup your money by reselling, or even make some! This design will always be popular.
Also, speaking from experience, beware of other people's grails. It's fun to get caught up in all the excitement, but often difficult to see clearly. Years ago there was a scarf called Hello Dolly that people were crazy about and was reselling for piles of money. Now - pfft.

I know that scarf and honestly it looks a bit scary to me...a bit like the Fairytales one, I know it's popular but not my cup of tea
The reselling market seems totally random to me: I am currently selling the Faceties de Pegase scarf, at a "normal" price, under retail and in great condition (just a super tiny pulled thread), and I got loads of requests and crazy offers for almost half of what I'm asking...and then I see scarves that aren't particularly popular and in mediocre condition that sell instantly, with a high price tag  I guess it all depends on the buyers and the location.

Maybe ?
Faceties .... one of the recent abstract designs that are nearly indistinguishable geometrics when folded ... eg anything with bold stripes, anything by Peake, many by Dimitri, some by Pagni
Geometric seems to be a huge theme these days, multi cultural and PC, those are honestly hard to tell apart
unless you wear the scarf in a triangle over the shoulders, the horse in FACETIES goes away

Another idea about popularity of FACETIES ... Maybe Dimitri is no longer in such favor as a designer as he had been? He was hot stuff at one time with NOEL AU FBG, VIF ARGENT , CHEVAL SURPRISE etc but gee whiz, when was his last big hit in 90cm? He seems to have disappeared....

I remember when Faivre was all the rage, before Dimitri ...

A theory of mine ... There were cult designers eg Dimitri and Faivre and H has stopped cultivating individual artists like that - with very distinctive styles.

Jamin, Pagni and Pierre Marie are the most prolific recent artists. Jamin is the mashup queen =- not exactly known for novel designs. Pagni does repetitive little designs - rather like in mens neck ties or pochettes, not super distinctive. Pierre Marie does comical work like Baribeaus, Gattoni Bajtlik et al.

All interesting points! I'm not an H expert by any means and I started buying some scarves two years ago, so this is super fascinating to me. I was aware of their existence but that was it, so I missed a lot of the "it" designs like Parures de samourais and so on. I guess what's popular and what isn't changes over time.
I like Faceties because it's easy to wear imo, but the cw I have doesn't really make my heart sing and that's the only reason I'm trying to sell it. But I can see why people aren't attracted to it: like you said if you don't look at it from a distance or if you don't hang it the horse is invisible. If you buy H scarves to have designs that can be shown while wearing them... well, Faceties doesn't make the cut for sure.

But some ADORE the modern esthetic of Dimitri ...
I think his recent designs are more unisex, certainly designs that all can wear, although the cws in the womens collection are not maybe for all
In general, I think the H colections are veering towards being more unisex, just brighter cws in the ladies collections, exceptions abound

Like me! Haha.
Dimitri is bar far one of my fave designers. I think Space Shopping was a pretty big hit and it came in a 90. That was fairly recent. Within the last five years. Minuit au Faubourg is still one of my all time fave H designs though it was a 70. I agree that he caters to a more unisex aesthetic though.

I quite like Pierre Marie too. Aline Honore also makes fabulous designs and has a few that are considered “grails”. Faivre I can take or leave; and so many monkeys! Yuck haha.

Dallet remains really popular though and there is no modern aesthetic there haha.

I have to admit that maybe Aline Honore's works aren't for me! I can't seem to like the Femme aux semelles de vent that is considered a grail, and I love Parures de samourais' intricate details but now that I have one it doesn't speak to me as much as I thought it would.
My fave artist so far has been Alice Shirley, but... I don't want to sound like an heretic, but her works seem to be all very similar to one another. Very recognisable for sure, but at the same time when they're worn they all look interchangeable.
Ps. Sorry for my mistakes, english isn't my first language!

Oh yes Alice Shirley is another whose designs are often grails. I loved her Tyger Tyger but agree that many look similar once worn haha. Aline Honore’s Sieste au Paradis is probably one of the most beautiful designs in existence in my view. Of course I love Samourai as well but Sieste takes the top spot.

While Honoré is my favorite, I must agree on Semelles. I couldn’t find a cw I liked or that worked. In either csgm or 90. The black 90 I’m sure would be wonderful on me and it’s beautiful. But I won’t pay a ridiculous grail price, so that’s that.

I struggled with Samouraïs as well. Plenty of the 90 cws were good on me, but meh. Then time past and I fell hard for the blue CSGM and got it from our own @sdsurfchick for a very fair price.

Honoré’s designs vary widely. I agree with @Bostonjetset that Sieste is marvelous.

As to Shirley, agreed again. My Tyger is very different from my Jardin Anglais. My new Mountain Zebra has the same small patterning of the JA but is all red so completely different. My Jaguar Quetzal again is in a very unique cw. That’s it for Shirley because they really do seem to run together.

While I was in Paris in 2020 they showed me a 140 summer silk Sieste au paradis and it was indeed beautiful! I ended up choosing another design, the Savana dance, because its colors seemed to work better for me. But I would like to get a Sieste someday.
I think Jaguar quetzal is one of the first carrés that I truly loved and I recently got it in yellow. I also have Zebra pegasus in green, they seem different enough to justify keeping them both. Jardin anglais is way out of my comfort zone, too expensive at the moment, but beautiful indeed. I'm not a fan of fish so Under the waves doesn't attract me  I may get Tyger tyger someday.

I love my Faceties de Pegase (turquoise). I passed on it in the boutique because it was almost too perfect for me. Later I found one in perfect condition with tags still on it for way under retail, so I now own it. It's a pretty under-the-radar scarf I guess. (I agree about the scary heads on Dolly and Fairytales - not for me!)
