Yes I saw this on eBay For $1750. It is certainly beautiful! We all have our own limits on what we will pay for what constitutes a “grail”/must have for a collector or just ones personal grail. My personal grail is Parures de Samourais. I don’t have my favorite colorway yet but prices are too high for me to rationalize. My oldest is “La France” 1957 I think it is off my memory.
Thank you! fortunately, I found it on the seller‘s direct-sale site first; and then, it was a case of, if not now, when?
I’m known for loving, enjoying silks more than bank notes, and letting go when momma needs $650 new wiring for the Jeep (true story!).

Awesome! Haha. And great hunting there!! Love those stories. It is an amazing scarf. One I would wish to have as well! and no idea if yours is the same as that eBay one. I personally ( tho newbie) have never seen one that expensive before. perhaps it happens on these treasures

There used to be grails that every collector had to have. And I guess we did that (?). I feel like now, with so many newer collectors, that's not the case. People have personal grails, which seems like a more sane pursuit. Thoughts?
Interesting topic moma, and one I was a bit shy to discuss. I’m not quite sure I’m a collector yet, though my mountain of H boxes may affirm this as true. I have loved the brand for many years and used to routinely peek at purse forum and the H site. I found myself drawn to the animal imagery on one hand - so Alice, Ardmore, and Dallet primarily. On the other, I enjoyed the whimsical and it amazed me how many looks scarfies could coax out of a single design just by changing a fold so - rybaltchenko, bajtlik, baribeaud etc. Funnily my first H acquisitions were at the boutique in the form of two shawls - one from each category - animals and whimsical- three graces and acte iii. I was on my way down the H slope and pretty swiftly got swept away by Aline’s plumes en fete. I quickly amassed a wish list of old Alice designs, Ardmore artists and rybaltchenko. During quarantine I research H like a second job (lol) and continue to fall in love with new designs (to me). This site introduces me to never before seen or never before heard of scarves that I then have to research. Recently I have been enthralled by the 70cm format. Ballet aquatique, printemps 69/ete 70, Les sportives, and j’aime mon carre crown my list currently. Just yesterday my rybaltchenko dreams came through as I secured space shopping in the monochromatic colorway. Cross posting some pics from SOTD thread. Can’t wait to wear these treasures out in the world some day!

sometimes you don’t know it’s a personal grail ‘til it finds you: St. Malo, Grygkar-attributed, ca. 1947 per Fontan’s III. costuming looks right for a grail story bridging 14th-15th centuries.
Will look closer at colors (really bluer pinks; iPhone photos peachy) and registration in specific thread. just beautiful—and the cutest little unicorn in the lower left corner!

I'm so glad you got this! The price was waaaaaaaaay out of my range. Of course, this is the grailiest of grails! And in amazing condition.

You are the perfect example of what I was talking about. You have personal interests (and grails) and are not swept up in what every collector "has to have." So maybe those days are over, which is good. The research is so much fun, isn't it? Especially when you have a focus. Your new interest in 70s should satisfy the "whimsical" needs. They are such fun scarves and, except for this season, have a lovely soft vintage feel.
And congrats on your triptych!

Thank you! It was out of my range, too—even at the direct price since I saw there before ebay, but I thought, you know, I bet those digital dollars are chilly closed up in the “bank vault” and need a little air—off to www.vintage-hermes-scarves.com...poof.
of course, different if today’s grocery bill were a concern.
And I appreciate and respect it annoys some these lovely silks are considered maintaining their values against future grocery bills — they are just so much more fun to look at than IRA statements!

Are you going to hang it on a wall, or wear it, or....? Please share with us! Of course, now you need Mont Sanct Michel also, if you don't already have that!
