Oh wow Marietouchet! Thanks for this! these are marvelous! :welcome:

I've seen the first one many times on the resale market, in endless cws. You're right that this black one does bring to mind the dark museum rooms where they keep the mummies; and when I was a kid I went to the big King Tut exhibit at the Met and the rooms were just like this, dark black, with glowing gold everywhere.

I've not seen the second scarf before. I can see how it would be a workhorse with all those different colors! The stone pharoah does seem rather out of place with the rest of the design, at least to me. I would love to see a scarf of similar design, with the heiroglyphic figures and toned down, softened colors like the ones in Egypt that time has dulled a bit.

The third is the one I'd get if I ever feel the need for another Egyptian scarf. It's FABULOUS frankly. And while no, that color isn't Egyptian at all, (now a darker lapis blue would have been!) I think that the monochrome effect is perfection with all the very, very cool design busy-ness. Love the scarab, and the lotus.

And thank you, I am so very excited about Chevaux de Karnak. I just hope I like the moussie format!

ETA: Why is there no Sphinx scarf? Or Nefertiti scarf? Or Sekhmet scarf?? (OMG I'd love one of those!). There's so much more to Egypt than King Tut! (though I grant you, Ramses is big).

PPS: Never mind thank you I see it. Tresors du Nile. So very very cool.

Ha! Yes indeed.

Oh fine! Then give us a sphinx and a Sekhmet!

I'm not absolutely sure, but I do believe your Tresors du Nile has the Nefertiti scarab symbol. Must research....

Thoroughly enjoying the Egyptology discussion, ladies! I want all the scarves AND the tourist trash bust. :amuse:

Even I don't like them all on the same day but things change
I do historical theme scarves , Egypt , Vikings , French kings , Romans , Greeks all that kind of old stuff

I stumbled upon a Scarab scarf at the bay and thought about you Ladies immediately:

This is neat! Thanks HoneyLocks!

It's always cracked me up how they glorified (and beautified) a dung beetle. I shouldn't laugh: The symbolism lies in the way they roll dung to lay eggs or whateverthehell reason they do it. In Egyptian theology, the god Ra would roll the sun across the sky during the day, then through the underworld at night, and back round the next day. Thus the dung beetle became a key religious symbol as the scarab.

Omg!!!! About to burst. I woke up this morning to find that a reputable seller with whom I have done business in the past had my holiest Grail- the one I had given up on- and for a fair price. I bought it! My ex Libris cashmere neutral shawl is on its way!!! Faint....
