Just returned from a lovely day with a friend from tpf , we always have a ball in Hermès and today was no exception.
Long story short : I hankered after a Zebra Pegasus maxi twilly I'd seen on an SA in Bond Street , they had said it was the only one in that colour ordered .
I had chosen a different one which didn' t work , so I changed it for the red which I love.
So today , what did we find but my Grail Zebra Maxitwilly ;);););)
It's rather unprepossessing in the H photos but I love the fact it has grey, black and brown with the most lovely orange .

I now have found 2 grails in 2 days …..and that will be that for a while :graucho:
I need DH to go out so that I can take some photos. He ….has… no… idea…
CONGRATS!!! :rockettes:

ABQ, your collection is obviously well curated. I can feel your experience and thought in all your posts. I am hoping to get to that point also. First comes random buying on impulse, or from great enabling pix here. :graucho: Then awareness of which scarves I am always reaching for and which ones I rarely wear, and figuring out why. Color, design, tying ability, getting compliments when worn? I am over the initial frenzy (of about 7 years!) and now letting go of stuff.

I have a few scarves that are weird, but I don't care, like the PINK Plumes et Grelots - (pink in winter??). And there are still scarves I want someday (Gloires de Guillaume and Les Normands, Gloire de la Cuisine Francaise, etc.) and CWs that need replacing (Attelages, Confort en Automobile especially). No rush. There are budget concerns, plus all the new scarves every season!

And I just realized I need more black scarves LOL.

I like this thread.

Thank you so much for this thoughtful note, moma -- you are absolutely right in what you say about trying to determine what makes a scarf a "go-to." There are designs I love that I'll never buy because they won't tie "right" for me (everyone is upside down in Promenade de Longchamps, for example, or a border is just too wide for my taste). I keep a spreadsheet of my scarves and check colors before I make an impulse purchase -- that's saved me several times and I've fallen back in love with what I already have as a result. Your pink P&G jacquard is great for winter, IMO -- and I'd have bought it myself except for loving my pink AF Alliances du Monde just a little more! (and getting the holly jacquard in Nd'A Detail).

Another thing I really pay attention to is what I'm wearing with the scarf -- I've found that making a good pairing of scarf and top can be the difference between "wow" and "meh." I've also explored colors that I would never have thought I'd like (this year it's fuchsia and burgundy). The SOTD thread is great for ideas -- black and blue, for example -- I wouldn't have tried that combo without a nudge. (Maybe I've been encouraging for black and brown, which I always like together.)

I like this thread, too!

Pirula, I knew you would quickly pick this up this concept! The scale of the design and the amount of open space are a big part of the impact, yes? I am not a big fan of the super-intricate squirrely designs, but I have one friend who prefers them to all others.

That would be ME, the ultimate AF fan -- though I don't like ultra-bright busy patterns at all. For some reason, I just don't care for open spaces, especially if they're white! But I hear what frou frou is saying -- I'm a big believer in wearing what makes you happy, because most of the time that will give you the glow that makes the scarf love you back. Even when you can't put your finger on what it is, you can often tell that it's good because that's how you feel.

Twins with you on the noir/violine/vert absinthe version.
Thank you for encouraging me to revisit this lovely scarf.
Both color ways really flatter you.

Thanks, TGG! I'm from New Mexico (hence the ABQ) and have lusted after the red/brown version for years... so happy to have both colorways! :yahoo:

I absolutely agree with this. Thank you abq2atl.

The blue Turandot has been in my hands for a couple of weeks now . At first I wasn't sure, but it's worked its charm and now I am thrilled to have it . My red is in perfect like new condition, but this blue [ despite blurb on E***] has done a fair few neck miles , feels more like vintage silk and also carries a faint staleness .Pricewise it's been a fair deal .
So it's going to be given workhorse status , I don't want it to feel too precious and formal so here it is literally flung on .And then pandering to the diva a more formal knot.
Would I pick up a third Turandot ? Probably not, none of the others speak to me though as we know things in H world can change on the head of a pin!

Love love love the casual way you are wearing it. Funny mine was like new, folds and all but was very very soft too. I need to try to wear this less formally. Thanks for your inspiration. And congratulations!

So happy to be your twin here , and how interesting that yours was soft at the outset
I'm going to wash it to freshen it , it'll be even more floppy then which will work well to loosen up the design I think .

Sweet Lanit I can see you wearing this blue , it would be gorgeous on you .
A reissue? Oh yes, and what about a CSGM ?

Does anybody have a seemingly unattainable Grail??

I've been searching for Presentation de Chevaux in the Gris color way forever.

It's nowhere to be found so it must be way too pretty for anybody to ever let it go!!

Yes. I think that's the true definition of a Grail. Tango tosca waited something like 8 years for the right color of a certain scarf. Wait for your color. Keep looking. Someday it will come up. And if you see something in a color that will hold you over that isn't too expensive get it. Then trade up when you can. Unless it's very expensive. Then it's best to wait. I have a few like that. I might not ever find them. But I keep looking.
