ITA agree about the prices on eBay recently, it's insane. I'm sticking to my little list and only looking at certain grails. Even then, the prices are spiking more dramatically than I've seen for some of them. There are a few gems out there, however. :-) Also, while looking at the scarves coming out late this summer/autumn, I realized there are five that are "must sees," so maybe it's for the best!

The scarf was won on eBay about a week before the Hubby-Like Object took the picture. He knew nothing about the scarf at the time. Neither did the new kitty, Miss Beemer. :smile1:

One of life's great coincidences. Hubby is impressed, but Beemer could care one way or the other. It's just another scarf to her. :nogood:

dduane, Miss Beemer is so cute and I'm glad that serindipity led you to the scarf. Isn't it cool when that happens.

Kelly100; I've been guilty of paying close to $300 each for a few scarves on ebay recently. However, I'm passing a few that I'd love to have because I want to do my part to stop some of the insanity pricing that is currently going on there.

I agree with you Loony! Hurry up "H" and re-issue already! That price is INSANE!

DD, that Cave Felem is gorgy! Miss Beemer could have been the model for it! (& I'll keep my fingers crossed that Loony finds one that is perfect for her, too!)

Reasons recently postulated for the increase & my opinions thereon, noting many scarves have sold at 50-100-200 % over retail - that's 2X or 3X retail

- Trickle down from Hermes increase - No, this is not the casue - this 10 % or so increase, does not account for scarves selling at 50-100 % above retail
- Increase in the values of the Euro wrt the dollar - no, this is the not the cause, it causes the retail price to change, but not the multiple (2X-3X)

i was referring to the general upward trend, and i do believe the hermes price increase has increased the amout people are willing to spend for more typical second-hand sales. sales at a significant premium over retail are another creature entirely.
