would you buy a made for outlet bag?

I'm pretty sure the MFF bags are made in the same factories on the same machines as retail bags. It's not like they're gonna be messier with the glue on THIS line of bags because they're MFF and stitch the seams straighter on THOSE bags because they're retail. The materials might be a bit different but the quality of manufacturing should be very close.

I agree. Several years ago I asked at the outlet about the quality vs. FP and I was told that the leather was different. I asked if it was lesser quality and the SA said no, just different, that some people preferred one over the other.

I've seen some factory bags from 2004-2009 that have super nice leather, probably nicer than some of the FP leather they are using now. The leather on my MFF Zoe is just as wonderful as the FP version, but the later MFF Zoes had horrible leather.

Hi all, I need some advice. I got my first MFF purse (Kelsey) from an outlet, and now I am having buyer's remorse. I paid $137.50 for it. It's a fun summer bag, but I feel like It's too much money and not enough quality for a bag that I am going to be really hard on in my daily use. I feel like it might not hold up. Should I return it and put the money towards a better quality FP or vintage Coach purse? Thank you!

$137.50 is not a bad price for a Coach purse. You would have to spend 2 or 3 times at much at FP for an item that might not be 2 or 3 times better. I don't know how the MFF Kelseys compare to the FP Kelseys. Some MFF bags are just as good as their FP counterparts.

Now, vintage is another story. You can find some wonderful deals on vintage or just used on ebay. Several times I have found very lightly used bags of recent styles for steals. It depends on how you feel about carrying a used bag. For newer bags, I pull out the lining and give it a complete cleaning before carrying. Vintage bags you can wash and they last forever, but they tend to be heavier and the glove-tanned leather shows every scratch. If you get a pebbled Sonoma or Sheridan, the pebbled leather tends to look newer longer than smooth glove-tanned leather.

Thanks, Whateve. I think the lining is what bothers me about it. it's a cheap, fabric linking and I feel like for $137 it should be a thick, satin lining.

Thanks for info on the vintage bags. I have no problem with a used one. I would enjoy the challenge of fixing one up and bringing it back to life.

You're welcome!

The last bag I bought has a signature lining that I really hate. When they came out with this collection in FP, I didn't even look at the bags because I hated the lining so much. Once I tried this bag on, I loved it so much that I overlooked the lining. Now when I carry it, I don't see the lining very much with all my stuff inside.

It is really fun to fix up a vintage bag. Just remember that there are fakes in the secondary market, even on vintage, so you'll need to get them authenticated. You could start by looking at the bags posted in the Vintage Chat thread here to get an idea of what styles you like: http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-clubhouse/vintage-coach-photos-and-chat-857690.html
and the Reference library here: http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-reference-library/post-your-vintage-classic-pieces-here-292004.html
The reference library is no chat, so any questions should be posted in the Vintage chat thread.
