Would you bring a high end bag to college classes?

Back when I was in college, it always bugged me to see girls carrying a bag and backpack, regardless of whether the bag was high-end.

It just seemed superfluous and inefficient. The purpose of the backpack is to keep your hands free! Ha.

^^^^ I couldn't say it better. I thought it looked stupid when girls carried a backpack and a purse. I brought my purse with me to school, but it always fit inside my packpack. I say stick to a large designer bag that will fit everything in it.

don't bring a backpack and a handbag. don't even try to bring a tote with a handbag.. i don't get that. i don't see that in college but back in high school some of the girls would carry a purse along with a backpack on their back and i thought it looked stupid. i mean hello. if your backpack isn't working than get a bigger one. duh. back in high school we even had lockers. locker+purse+backpack? um. ok.

I used a Coach multifunction signature tote throughout grad school and it worked well for me. Then again, I was working during the day and going straight to classes and often didn't want to switch bags and carried the (small amount) of books for my classes with me in case I wanted to read during lunch.

I saw plenty of girls carrying a backpack and a bag. Don't do it; it looks tacky and like you're showing off. If you have one classic bag for everything and honestly carry the kitchen sink it can be done at the postgraduate level. There were times that I did feel "showy" with my bag but it also became my trademark. Given the amount of use that single bag got, it was worthwhile since it was comfortable and well-constructed.

I've always had this question!!

Coach is pretty popular here (fake and the occasional and oh so rare real) so I don't mind carrying my Signature Stripe Tote to class... its super function and I can carry notebooks in it. People do notice it, but I don't think its too obnoxiously flashy.

I just bought an LV Speedy that I'm DYING to carry... but I'm so hesitant to. I don't have class now because its summer, but I am working as an intern at a major corporation. The ladies in my office already comment on my Coach bags... I wonder what they would say if I carried my LV?? :p

I may gradually progress into carrying my Speedy to class in the fall... but who knows. Most people here in Oklahoma would assume its fake anyway... or they would CONSENTLY ask.... :(

I should mention that I'm always pretty cautious when it comes to what bag I'm carrying and where I'm going. For example if I'm going to a rough part of town, I leave the designer bags at home. I would not want to be seen as a target in any way.

When I got my Speedy 25 I was so hesitant too but after carrying it to class a few times, I got used to it. Now I consider it more as an every-day bag there. I go to an art college where people wear things they get from the Salvation Army because it's both the style and they like to be the "starving artist" and like... not get a job! Seriously!

You worked for it (or someone understands a handbag makes a great gift!) so you should certainly be able to carry it!!

After the first few times though, maybe a couple weeks even it will get so comfortable because it's made its "appearance."

Plus after having one and even if people there ask about it... when you get your next one it will be a lot more comfortable!

I used the large Paddington as a book bag last year. When I got to law school I had too many books and needed a rolling bag; otherwise I would still be using the Paddy.

My normal school purse is definitely my LV Damier Pouchette. I have a huge backpack and have my purse in it and normally would just take my purse out when going out for lunch or on a break.

I graduated a few years ago and I always wore my nice bags. I also went to SDSU, where girls get dolled up to go to class. I never went that far, but always had a nice bag. Don't leave it in your car, that is more dangerous. No matter your reason for buying the bag, you should were it whenever and wherever you want.
