Why do you take your jewelry off when you get home?

I wish I could remember better to keep my jewelry off at home. I have been denting my platinum band around the pots and pans, not intentionally but I'm just too sloppy at the sink. My e-ring is still ok but the plat band has one chipped diamond and everything has that burnished look, not the shiny new look. Sometimes I fall asleep with my studs in, and my lobes hurt the next day.

I take off my ring(s) and leave my earrings on. I sometimes take my watch off (which is bad since it's automatic and stops after 12 hrs of not wearing...sigh).

I take off any jewelry I'm wearing while I'm at home...watch/necklaces/rings/bracelets...the only exception are I switch my earrings back to small studs (if I happened to change out of them during the day) since my ears haven't healed completely after being pierced..weird since it's been almost 6 months!
I just feel more comfortable 'naked'

Very interesting to read your replies. It seems most of you are more comfortable without your jewelry. I don't wear a lot of jewelry because i work in a hospital, and due to infection control we can't wear certain things. I have a plain platinum wedding band that never comes off, and my DH for christmas got me a solitaire diamond pendant, which i  so much. However it is quite fidley to put on so i don't take that off either. I don't wear a watch anyway. I have a beautiful white gold and diamond bracelet that usually stays on for a few days when i'm not working, i sleep and bathe in it. earrings i wear when going out and take off before bed, as they are usually quite fancy. So thats me.

For a long time I thought I was one of the few people that took off their jewelry when they got home.

I never take off my earrings. The second I get home I MUST take off my bracelet, ring and watch. If I don't take them off then it starts to bother me. It's like I suddenly notice I have them on and constantly feel them there. I only take off my necklace to shower though.

At home, my engagement ring and wedding band come off when I'm cooking, cleaning, washing dishes/hand, or showering - but only because I'm between a 3.5 & a 4 ... and if my fingers are cold and / or wet, they can slip off or will come off in the towel when I go to dry my hands. These go back on before bed, though. (I wouldn't want to have to leave in a hurry (say, in case of fire), and forget to grab them.

My watch is an Omega Seamaster - completely waterproof and seemingly indestructible so it stays on ALL the time.

Necklaces and bracelets are occasional so they come off when I'm done with them.

Great Question

I always take off my watch the minute I step through the door -- it's like a signal that I can relax now and not worry about the time.

If I'm wearing pearl rings or bracelets, I usually take them off too -- if I have to cook or put a hand in my fish tank, I don't want to risk any chemicals getting on the pearls.

Earrings only come off if I'm going to put on headphones or yak on the phone.

I usually take off my wedding ring just before bed, when I take out my contacts.
