why do you like Coach items and is it considered mid-end or high end brand?

I'd say mid to high range. Some of the coach bags are really expensive. I know there is one right now that's almost a $1000, but there was a blue alligator or ostrich bag afew seasons ago that was $5000 I believe. Also it depends on who you ask and how much money they make.

I'm guessing Vicky is in another country where COACH isn't so popular, so she's reasonably curious IMO.
I don't see any harm in her question.
If you post a link to another time this was brought up recently, I'd be happy to close and link or merge this one.

I'd say that they are mid-range. I believe they are trying to reach into the high end market though with some of the more luxurious leathers and exotics. They have great cs and are known to stand behind their product which is something I appreciate. I also appreciate the fact that they have something for everyone; from the outlets to the boutiques, from teens to the more mature woman.

Point taken swanky. Here are a couple of links. I know there are a few more out there. ;)

I love Coach regardless of what anyone has to say about it. I have paid $20 for a bag that I love as much or more than my 600+ bags. If I see a bag and I like it it's coming home with me.

Everything is relative. In relation to Hermes, Coach is low-end; but in relation to Nine West, Fossil, etc. it probably isn't. I know and work with many women who think that Coach is the end-all and be-all of purses! Everyone has their own opinion as to whether or not Coach is truly "designer" but, for me, it doesn't matter. I like what I like regardless of the designer name, price, exclusivity, or whatever.

So, I think that is what handbag helen was getting at. Who cares where Coach sits on the food chain of designer items? Buy what you like and don't worry about it.

I never own a Coach bag and know it as an American's Gucci. Is this brand consider to be a Middle range bags or the highend one?

ok ussally i dont care about this stuff and find its silly to quabble about useless crap....BUT OMG did you just say coach is the american gucci??????? how does THAT make sense??

Dont get me wrong, i love coachs accessories (their shoes are the best!) buttt no way in hell they compare to gucci!! sorry if i piss anyone off, but seriously! As many people have stated before me, coach is easily gotten and seen EVERYWHERE...where as brands like gucci are pretty rare. For example in Phoenix coach can be found at about 25+ stores off the top of my head (coach stores, macys, dillards etc) where as Gucci can be bought at THREE!!! And i dont know how the prices of the two compare either! For 800 you can buy multiple REALLY NICE LEATHER coach bags, but you can get one canvas gucci! ...

I really did not understand her statement!!! ahhhh :cursing:

But again, im not putting down coach, because it was the first designer i ever bought so therefore will stay near and dear to my heart! IMO i think there is a scale of designer prestige and sad to say it, but coach is near the bottom...but thats okay because that is their niche!

Well, it is very subjective. I personally don't think it matters as long as you are using a high quality bag. Coach doesn't use pleather, right? Well, then it doesn't matter!! I buy what I can afford, what looks good and practical!

I think Coach is mid-range here in the US, but again its all relative to what you're comparing it to. (A Nine West versus a Hermes, etc... like Kallison mentioned.)

But I also believe Vicky's comparison to Gucci wasn't that far off... Yes, Gucci may be a rarer breed then Coach here in America... but if you were in Italy... seeing a Gucci would be as common as seeing a Coach bag here, and seeing a Coach bag would be the rarer breed... So it also depends on where you are located, luvednotspoiled. ;) In terms of a global market, I could see where Coach could be compared with Gucci. I believe the Gucci line is the lower to medium end of the lines that company holds, but I could be a bit off on that. Remember, we are still talking a luxury brand regardless.

Here in American, I would rate Gucci slightly differently, then where it would stand globally. Its all subjective though.

Source of information regarding brand holdings, wikipedia.com:
Using the capital obtained from the PPR issue, the Group has steadily expanded beyond just the Gucci brand through a series of takeovers. As of 2004, the Gucci Group maintained whole or partial interests in the following companies or brands:
IMO... Gucci would fall on the lower end of these brands, with Balenciaga, YSL, & Bottega Veneta falling on the mid to high end... So following that line of thought, it would be more common to see a Gucci there then Coach. Don't lynch me!! Just my opinion. :shrugs:

But again... its all relative to what you are comparing! Are you comparing Coach to Nine West, Gucci to Balenciaga, YSL to Hermes?? Coach or Gucci to Hermes??? It is all relevant... but in the end, you should always buy what you love, regardless...
