Oh, I have an LV-attack story! I was attacked by one of my best friends, who says she loves designers and claims to know so much about it (she doesn't - both loving and knowing). She very well knows I want to buy my first LV soon and she even insists on coming with me!

Today she said: 'I don't like Louis Vuitton. People carrying Louis Vuitton are such wannabe's! I mean, if you're so crazy to spend that amount on a bag, buy Chanel! Chanel is sooo classy, and when someone carries Chanel you'll at first think 'What a cute purse!' and if you look closely you'll see it's Chanel! I hate how LV screams LV. It's ugly and stupid.'
I, of course, immediately defended: 'Louis Vuitton is just as classy. It's even older than Chanel. Plus, do you also hate Gucci and Fendi? They also scream the brandname!'
She responded: 'No, that's just different.'
Me: 'And what about Epi, and Nomade? They don't scream Louis Vuitton!'
She: 'Yeah, just cut it out. Nobody knows or sees that except YOU! That's just because you're so stupid to go and learn all that crap!'

What? That's just mean. And so hypocrite - I still remember last summer when we were on holiday in the Czech Republic, and she was desperately looking for a FAKE LV SPEEDY!

I have never been "attacked" by anyone. I do have friends that make fun of me at times for my bag obsession but I put them in their place by explaining that it's a hobby of mine. Some people spend lots of money on cars, golf, collecting things, boats etc. I like handbags. Who's to judge??

the thing is...there's many types of people...lol

1..."oh nice bag!" <- this person doesn't care much...

2..."nice bag...how much was it?..." <- this person wants one and envys you...

3..."geez...let's see?...why did you get this ugly thing...how much was it...i don't understand you...crazy..." <- this person wants one, envys you, and wants one while the person doesnt want you to have one...

lol

i'm lost...

I LOVE THIS ! so true lol !

yesterday my friend's "partner" (they're married gay couple btw so we prefer the term partner than husband or wife) defended my lv street shopper :p
my friend asked how much i got mine and i said like 1000, hebought designer bags but not as crazy as me but then his partner said that because i don't do make up and don't buy beauty products or ride cars it's ok if i spend my money on what i enjoy most LOL

DiorKiss - Wow, I'm so sorry your friend is so close-minded and disrespectful of other people's choices >_< She would not be my friend a second longer with that terrible attitude! You deserve better!

I have a very close friend who isn't into blatantly showing off logos (I'm a mono freak....I have tried to turn her on to epi:graucho:). I have another friend who doesn't get how I can blow money on my bags....but I so badly want to say "add up all the money you & hubby blow on dinners out.....". To each his own, I know it's an obscene amount of money to spend on a purse, but so what? I love them, I'm not trying to impress anyone, and it's what I chose to spend it on.

What an interesting tread.

I used to be a mono girl (wich is surprising as I really hate logos on other brand like Gucci canvas or Celine). There's something with LV... Since 2/3 years, I all DE wich I used to dislike ...

I was searching for some stuff, find out this fun thread

I used to dislike monogram bags for any brand, now I just want a monogram bag.
It is so interesting that people's tastes change
Me too! In fact my first LV was an Epi back in 2001, second was DE in 2006, then I got a mahina in 2008, was closest to logo, also got a Bernie wallet and epi card holder. I took a break from LV for years, fast forward 13 years later and I bought 5-6 mono items this year!

wow, My first was black epi, the second was DE, third was DA, now I want a monogram, but have not settled on any bag yet. I am not sure whether I will settle on LV leather bags, but mahina is so pretty.

The leather in Mahina is so soft and buttery. They don’t have good resale value, however.
My regret is I didn’t get into monogram earlier when the quality and attention to details were higher. I feel they have reduced the amount of vacchetta so drastically, especially in lower priced bags and the hardware in general, zipper pulls, interior lining materials, etc all feel flimsy and cheap in comparison to bags of 15-20 years ago.
I used to stay away from monogram just so I don’t draw attention, really was based off my own insecurities. I didn’t have an expensive car, lived in apartment and felt a monogram screams trying too hard or as said before a wannabe. But that’s where my priorities were right or wrong.

I am the same…I didn’t think I would end up with 5 mono pieces. I wonder if monogram starts to be see as ’tacky’…then I am stuffed. Do you think LV will go down that route?
