^yep!

sometimes I get self conscious when I'm with a group of friends and I'm the only one with a designer bag...but then I think, screw it, it's my bag and my money! I can do what I please with it!

I feel the same way! And you nailed it on the head with "designer" bag...it doesn't really seem to matter the "brand", just the bag itself!

some people just dont understand how we like to spend money on purses.. it's like how we'll never understand how guys can spend 3000 on rims for their car (omg.. how could they?! they get dirtyyyyy tooo) all we can do is just ignore it all. it's your own money and you can do as you please. that's what i think : )

Yeah I know, it seems like LV is picked on the most...I don't hear people going, "Ugh, she has Chanel, she's so materialistic."
No matter, I buy what I like, I've learned not to let things like that bother me.
So true, and I believe it is because mono is likely the only bag these people even recognize as being LV. They would not know Epi or Suhali, only mono. They probably are not very likely to know Chanel or many other high end bags. The part I find amusing is that mono compared to other bags like (Chanel, Hermes, Choo), are not even quite as costly.

I live in a smaller city where the most you may see is Coach or Dooney and Bourke... but everyone has their fancy cars, and 50" LCD tvs... and at work, EVERYONE (even friends) ask how I could spend so much on an LV bag, when another bag could do the same for hundreds less... I didn't know how to respond, then I read on here a lady asks her friends in return "...why buy a BMW when a Kia does the same thing?" ... thats what I have been using ever since... and it stumps them everytime!

muhahaha I laugh at her claim as if LV doesn't make enough money selling th real bags they have to make their staff stay back, paying over time and make fake ones that sell at a 10th of the price hmmm.....

I don't worry about it because either way I think everyone would think my LVs are fake. I've got a few visible tattoos on my forearms and my ears stretched a little bit so people probably look at me and immediately think my bag is fake.

Yeah I agree! Obviously not likely to do any research to see that LV is not just Mono.
And it's weird though, because here, a LOT of people know what Chanel is...like my brother, who doesn't live with us and is not into designers at all, can tell if someone has Chanel sunglasses. And at my school right now, the fakes I'm seeing are strange versions of Chanel bags that were never even made...think a Cambon tote with buckles on the sides.
Anyway, so it's apparently "cool" to have Chanel, but if you have LV, you're materialistic. Mmmk.

yeah i have ppl at work who say omg your so stupid to spend ur money on that y dont u save it and do somthing worth while with your mony. and another will say im going over seas give me 20 bucks and il bring u back 6 bags that are exactly the same.

it drives me crazy they are not the same not even a little and i am spending my money on somthing i love that is worth while

Everyone has a vice- expensive car, watch, TV, eating out, drinking, Starbucks, gambling, spa treatments etc. Ours happens to be handbags. It also happens to be a very visible vice and LV mono is an easy target. We all choose what to spend our money on. Anyone who comments needs to be reminded of this.

The reason I joined tPF is to meet people who understand my vice as no one else in my life does.

Because either people are mean, or they think they know better than you. I know it can be hard for some people, but just don't let negative comments hurt you :)
