who the heck cares what 'parisiennes' think about the way I/we dress?
I doubt they care if I like their apparel choice or not.
The last I checked we don't have to get our clothing choices approved by anyone, lest those across the globe.

Call people here fools again and we'll remove you :D
Welcome!
Oh and I'll happily carry my $3k Chanel bag w/ my gym clothes to the grocery store anytime I wish thank you very much. . .
I love America! LOL!
Well said Swanky. lol. I didn't think my clothes needed to be a reflection of what my bag was.

Amen Swanky. I am proud to rock some jeans, flats, and a tshirt with a nice bag. Heres my deal- my weight fluctuates SO much. I'm not at the size that i want to be, so i don't splurge all my money on clothes. I enjoy splurging on shoes, and bags because one i'm secure that no matter how big or small i am the bags i INVEST in are always going to be gorgeous!

What many people don't see is there are many reasons why people choose to dress the way they do, and carry the bags they carry... part of it is influenced by celebs, part of it is the $$, part of it is just doing what the hell we want to!

But yea- clothing wise i'm really thrifty but will never compromise on my bags! they make me feel good, and thats all that matters. I don't care how others judge me one bit. And probably sad to say, but probably the majority of the people judging you because they are jealous they do not have the same thing.

As far as fakes--- a couple of my coworkers know i'm really into bags, and some of them ask me for opinions on what to invest in. I had a coworker that paid $60 for a fake Dolce Gabbana and absolutely loves it. However when i explained to her the concept of "counterfeit" in general- whether it be designer goods, or electronics, or anything else she really felt disgusted and said she'd never buy a fake again! I think if many people just were INFORMED about the reality of counterfeits many would decide NOT to support the production of them.

I had another coworker that really wanted me to go to the coach outlet with her because she can't really afford designer bags but she's wanting to invest in just 1 nice bag she can use over the years, and her boyfriend was like commenting on every single one of them we looked at saying he could find this for "$20" for her.... which is one reason i'm not into coach anymore because it is along with LV probably the most faked designer out there. My coworker was disheartened to hear her BF's comments and didn't buy a bag. I explained the reality of the counterfeits to her boyfriend, he actually listened too without rolling his eyes LOL, and two days later we all went out for dinner and he told me that he did a lot of "reading up" on this topic online, and he didn't realize what it was all about, and now he plans on surprising his GF with a REAL bag for valentines day this year!

LOL sorry to ramble but just wanted to share the story! Now ofcourse they still think i'm nuts for spending over 10-12K on my bag collection, but she did say she'd do the same if she could afford it!

i think their reasoning is that "i can never afford the bag anyway, so im not hurting the designers anyway." Im new to collecting designer purses, but even when i was younger there was no way i was gonna wear a fake. And i think it does affect the designers cause when all these people have the fakes, the appeal is lost in the authentic bags.

My husband and I are going out for a New Year's Lunch today, it's also our anniversary. I'll be wearing a pair of jeans, a long-sleeved tshirt, UGGS and a hoodie. No logo. I think we'll drive in his Hyndai, since it's completely reliable and economical.

I will, however, carry my brand new Valentino Historie, which arrived yesterday. It matches the blue of my hoodie. We live in a rural community and this is acceptable attire any day of the week for a casual lunch out.

Paris can giggle all they want. I'll be comfy, warm and I KNOW I'm stylin' bigtime, even if I am a fool. :graucho:

Thanks, Desi! I'd be a fool to wear anything else considering it's like 1 degree out there w/massive amounts of snow!

I think the bag will give me all the panache I need. :graucho:

from a entreprenueral perspective, i dont see anything wrong with them, make that money! but when i see nice looking people carry them, i often wonder, what else are they driven buy other than the price. I admit, they are knocking coach and even dooney off so clean that it is unreal. I especially dont care for fake vuitton, u can spot those plastic eye sores a mile away the handles chip, turn dirt brown and tear..while i dont condemn their rite to buy them, i do question, what's up with u and that fake ass ugly bag, excuse my french. Gucci can be purchase relatively..well not for $2000+ so they are within reach, and u an tell the diffrence, but an ol' fake dooney jus' hurts me, while the style of those bags are quite horrible now-a-days, u cant deny they do use good quality leather.

Thanks :smile1:
It's just the point. . . KWIM?
I just have such an issue w/ other people judging people based solely on their personal appearance.
People have been talking for years about the millionaire that lived next door driving his 22 yr old Ford pick up and mowing his own lawn in front of his teeny little first house.

There's no rhyme or reason as to who carries them. . . and no matter who carries them they're still not ethical, they're illegal.

I know a lot of people still don't believe they actually contribute to terrorism or other terrible things, but that's just a lack of educating one's self . . . or just choosing not to believe it to justify their purchases of counterfeit goods.

Okay Warren Buffet, the richest man in the world still lives in his little old house in Nebraska. He is pretty humble. :smile1:

I'm a mom with 4 kids, I still rock it. I don't wear designer clothes but I know how to put comfortable casual clothes together and make it look put together. Everyone always comments me on my clothes. And yes, I have the Gucci, Chanel, and Choos to match my outfits. Manolo and Chanel flats too. I think you can dress nice even casual with out spending alot of money. I think there are plenty of handbags that are not fake that look very nice! I get many complients on my lower end handbags too. It is the strangest thing, I have this $5 or $10 handbag that is striped leather and people always want to know where I got it when I out and about with it.

^^EXACTLY, Warren Buffet is a prime example.
It's ridiculous and egotistical to think that just by looking and judging one's appearance you know if their bag is real or not. It's laughable!

This fool wore a big Roots sweatshirt, Levis, ponytail and clogs today w/ her Louis Vuitton. HORRORS! LOL!

I read an article in Harper's Bazaar once that you should only spend lots of money on shoes, bags and coats. Not other clothes because regardless of designer or price tag, they are not made specifically for you and won't always look right. Buy a cheap dress, pay a tailor to fit it to just you, and the $500 CLs will make the dress look like a million dollars. So rock whatever you're wearing
