Omg seriously??

Well IAW MJDaisy and all the other people who think that the OP is the one giving Hermes a bad name.

And also, in the grand scheme of attention seeking fame whores Coleen is waaaaay down on that the list.

A lot of brands don't want to be associated with the WAGS. I'm not saying they should do that, but on this side of the pond, Burberry was almost decimated in the eyes of their traditional base because CHAVs adopted the signature check (sometimes real Burberry, sometimes fake). It turned a lot of their traditional customer base away from the brand, to the extent that anyone sporting the tiniest amount of the check might be considered a bit chavvy. Yes, it's snobbery and it's not very nice, but unfortunately, people use clothes and brands as tribal markers. If someone sees a well known figure whom they consider déclassé sporting one of their tribal markers, then they are bound to lash out.
Personally, I think if Coleen McLoughlin and VB want to buy Hermes bags, and Hermes want to sell them, then that's no skin off my nose. I'll continue to love this brand. I'm just expecting that the brand might be too demure for some of the other WAGS.
Perhaps it would be a good idea to acknowledge that everyone has the right to an opinion, whether you agree with it or not!

Oh no! :sad:I think Coleen is fine, but where she and VB start, the others will follow. Please don't let Hermes turn into WAGland. They've ruined every brand they touch.

Wow it must be cranky Monday :nogood:!!!

What is WAGland? And why can't these people carry the bags they want? I'm sure at some time in my history I have done a disservice to the brand I was carrying. This is an odd post...Peace & Love

I'm sorry to be off topic. But what is a WAG?

"common people" in hermes? WHAT A SHAME....what IS the world coming to?

*note the high sarcasm*

it's thread like this that disgust me on tpf. :cursing:
ITA. Obviously this "COMMON WOMAN" can afford Hermes so what is it to you or anyone else OP??

WAGs= wives and girlfriends of footballers in the UK. Stereotyped as moneygrabbers who shop and get fake tans, all the time. Tend to spend lots of their boyfriends/husbands money on clothes etc. Try to out glam each other. This is only a stereotype, as constructed via the tabloids etc. They are not considered fashionistas. Colleen Mcloughlin is supposed to be very bright, and has a genuine interest in clothes (according to the Vogue article on her, some years back), but has been given a hard time by the press. She has also managed to create a career for herself, which many other WAGS seem to lack. I don't really know that much about WAGS, as I'm not very interested in them.

I think perhaps there are some crossed cultural wires here. I don't really know any American counterpart to these girls, but in the UK, they are generally either adored or denigrated. Unfortunately, the issue of class tends to come into it, as it tends to do in a lot of issues in Europe. Perhaps it's better to leave it at that.

BTW, I have no problem with Colleen McLoughlin shopping at Hermes, but some of the other WAGS are not really to my taste. However, if they choose to shop there also, then that's none of my business.

Thank you for providing the definition Pooky. I think the closest thing we have are the gals they call celebutantes. I won't name any names, but these ladies tend not to work, but have very nice things.

Well, it's official, I want to be a WAG ;).

The nice thing about the bag is it's not huge or ostentacious looking. It's a tasteful and lovely classic. I'm honestly envying her right now! - M

Coleen McLoughlin, famous for being a complete chav and dating a footballer, she also models for Asda (the British version of like Target, or Walmart.)
It's horridly common women like this who will try and destroy the good Hermés name!

This is really wrong! Imagine someone posting a picture of you and asking who let you in to TPF. Very childish.:nogood:

I seriously did not mean to offend anyone at all, and I'm sorry if I have. I know that some girls are naturally petite, all the more power to them. But the reality is that there are millions of girls out there who DO starve themselves, who are sick with eating disorders, that do that either because the industry expects them too or because they think that beauty only comes in one size: teeny.

I'm 16 years old and while I don't starve myself to try to fit someone else's standards, I definitely think some days the media does affect how I feel about myself.

Sorry to be so off-topic since this is about Colleen and her Hermes bag, but I just had to add my view.

BTW: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chav <-- meaning of 'chav'. Pretty much a derogatory term.

Sorry - I just get my feathers in a ruffle when I hear skinny people being referred to as abnormal etc. I was a skinny minny for years (I've had 2 kids since then) and it drove me nuts how people would put me down without ever thinking (like asking if I had an eating disorder - whereas you'd never ask an overweight person that - that would be rude.)
So I was just pointing it out that I found it offensive - get what I mean? ;)

Thanks for the wikipedia thing - man, that site has everything.

Oh and I think the American version of a stereotypical WAG would be Ice-T's wife 'Coco' - ewww.

This is a very interesting thread and I like that everyone is providing their point of view on the original post; however, I think we should not name names of who we think our American WAGS are or this post will degrade. We should be respectful of people who are not here to defend themselves i.e. Coco.

Just my opinion...
