Yep from 2013 to 2018 I’ve kept surprising her every second day with a new birkin bag. Oh and I’m really regular on here as you can see by my huge post history on both those accounts.
Ok you only "surprised" or planned to "surprise" your wife twice, but you did know "Bababebi" in year 2013 from your lengthy post back then, right?

I'm a bit confused.

You say you don't know who Bababebi is yet in this post from April 15, 2013 (5 years ago), after you'd received quite a bit of help from her (using your other ID Fingerscrossed), you stated that you found her website and read it:
"But I do know now after clicking bababebi's website."

BTW, if the bag is indeed fake (and I don't think that's been determined or proven), I think you were premature in opening the Paypal dispute. It's already been months that you say you've been waiting for Hermes to let you know what's going on and even after saying you received an email, you're still waiting for a "letter."

If that letter doesn't come in time, you'll lose the paypal dispute. (And they won't accept an email so that's not an option.)

So I think you should have waited to open the dispute until after you received a letter.

If you look at my history you will see it has been years since I’ve posted so I’m not going to apologize for not being familiar with bababebi and forgetting she helped me 5 years ago. You can see by my history I don’t regularly post here and if you dig far back enough I’m more a Louis Vuitton person myself. Hermes and birkin aren’t something I have regularly on my mind. You would have seen in a previous post i didn’t even realize I had two accounts and only did so when others questioned whether I had in fact asked for authentication on the bag from reebonz.

You’re confusing the timeline regarding my emails. I had been emailing Hermès to chase the price of the quote over months. I only received the email about it being fake in early April and that’s when I alerted PayPal.

You’re right in that I probably jumped the gun in alerting PayPal before I received the letter as they do have a timeline when things are due. But they also have a timeline in opening disputes. I still have a couple more weeks before I need to escalate the matter to a formal dispute. The first step is to give reebonz a chance to respond and they have.

While you may not have saved the packaging, I'm sure that an expensive purchase such as you made had tracking.

Would you mind posting the tracking number? It would certainly prove your case and the dates that you "stand by." And in posting the tracking dates, it will confirm your credibility while not doing anything else to jeopardize your case.

Also, while I realize you haven't received the "letter" from Hermes, can we see a C&P of the email?

How frequently do you read the ebay subforum?

I’m not going to post the email now but will do so once everything is wrapped up as previously mentioned. To be honest, even if I post the email now with personal details redacted I’m sure someone will just say ‘how do we know the email is real?’ I’ve learned from some kind souls who PM’d me some people will just never be satisfied and my real goal isn’t to convince them but to firstly get my refund and secondly, help others avoid something similar and perhaps thirdly, shed light on the Hermes process. I’m still surprised no one else has gone through this and posted their experience of the process.

Regarding the postage, there have been so many other posters here confirming the timeline is possible I’m not going to continue to address this.

I believe tracking number is something that can not easily to be made up, so sharing now would prove while eliminating all other doubts, once for all as "Beenburned" recommended. Unless you continue insisting and not willing to post tracking number.

It’s out of bounds to insist the OP (or anyone else for that matter) post a tracking number on a public forum. Or provide it to a random stranger on the internet. Much personal information can be gleaned from it. :annoyed:

From reading OP 5 years ago's post and this thread's so many twists and abnormally dramatic development, it makes me wonder whether this public forum with freely shared authentication on high-end bags is benefiting certain "end-customers" in the dark side. Just a thought.

Thank you. I wasn’t going to continue on with the tracking issue as I thought it was obvious that my address could be displayed. But the prompt has reminded me to find the number and screenshot it to store it for dispute purposes just in case. However, even when I enter the tracking number it says ‘not found’ and I believe it is has expired anyway.

Not sure exactly what you mean so please feel free to be clear and direct if you are suggesting anything specific.

It seems to me the effort, time, energy and $$$ spent on "surprising your wife" for those Birkin bags is way more than the amount of effort, time, energy or $$$ to just getting a normal Birkin from Hermes Boutique. Of course you will reply with loads of words to explain why you did what you did. Anyway, we are just using common sense here. Your tenacious effort should have got a Birkin from Hermes Boutique (not necessary your home store) long time ago. That's all.

Not sure how familiar you are with birkins and Hermès and I’m certainly not an expert but the common sense gleaned from this forum tells me that it’s near impossible to get one from the store unless you spend regularly or are super lucky. Otherwise there wouldn’t be threads on how to score birkins and the plethora of resellers and Authenticators. If you have a magic way to do this I would love to hear it and I’m sure many others would too.

You will see from my posts that even in Australia there is inconsistency with some stores apparently still having waitlists and others that don’t.

I don’t understand what you mean by not getting it from a local store. I’m not some well heeled high flyer that can visit Paris every few months to try but we did go there a few years back.

We thought we were pretty tenacious when we lined up 3 days in a row in Paris and waited hours as the time kept moving only to see my wife be absolutely gutted and in fact, angry at not getting anything. It also meant we lost time we could have spent doing other things. I actually think the whole thing is stupid especially when you see some obvious VIPs who come in and it’s like the world stops and they get catered to in some private corner and boxes are being brought out for them to see.

I’m not ashamed to admit I don’t have the sort of money to buy other stuff to ‘build a relationship’ to be offered a bag and I really wouldn’t have believed simply going in every few weeks asking for a birkin would work but if that does then sure I’m happy to do it.

Given what quellfromage said my local Hermès might be sympathetic and hopefully this horrible situation can have a happy ending not just simply getting my money back.

Perhaps you and I just live in very different worlds.

Hi ob_solete... I’ve been following this thread since the beginning and I just feel like I have to say sorry... I feel so sad about the way you’ve been treated in this thread.

As other posters have said, you’ve handled it much more calmly and eloquently than I would’ve. Unfortunately this is the reason I don’t feel the desire to post much on tpf anymore. We live in a very negative, cynical world and social media amplifies that tenfold. People can be so bold sitting behind their computer and mobile phone screens. I live in AUS too and fully support what you’ve said about delivery times. I’ve had packages arrive from London in 2 days (and they were collected by the courier over weekends) yet it takes weeks to receive something from another State in AUS.

Hang in there, stay positive, ignore the meanies and fingers crossed it all resolves in your favour
