So you purchased the bag online from Reebonz Australia where the bag is sold from Brandoff Hong Kong. Listing said Sold & Packed by Brandoff Hong Kong and I suppose is shipped from Hong Kong. Estimated delivery in the listing said 6-10 days.
You purchased in on 26/12/17 which is Sunday and is not counted. There is some processing time the bag to be packaged and shipped ( usually 1-3 days) but lets say they processed the order in the first working day- monday and shipped it in the same day. So in two full days and half ( on the third day was already in the Hermes store) order was processed, packaged and shipped by Brandoff Honk Kong and you got it and drop it to Hermes store on 29/12/17. I'm not aware whether the bag have to pass trough Reebonz inspection first before you get it but in this time of the year all packages are slower due of high volume.

I ordered from Net-a-porter, Matchesfashion and Shopbop numerous times between 20 Dec 2017 till mid January 2018... and I can say that all my boxes arrived within 2 to 3 days via DHL. No delay at all... so I see no problems with the dates OP stated.

Oh yeah... I live in Brisbane Australia... so it the same country as OP.

I've been on the forum for many years now, never bother to post... but I just feel the needs to register and post this message.

2 to 3 days delivery is definitely possible around Christmas, New Year time, especially from Hong Kong...since that is where Net-a-porter is sent from.

Monicca, you are really going to wait? Hard to believe.
The forum has been so boring without your drama.
I cannot figure out why you care so much.

She also keeps adding the statement “with pictures” as if she can create her own rules. Hermès will send whatever letter it sends based on their own policies.

Ah, where is the Sofa King when we need him? [emoji57]

I'm loving the depth of analysis that some will go to in order to be right, including noting holidays and number of emails. What I don't love is how mean it is.
Despite the fact that OP will almost certainly get his money back (OP, did you use a credit card with any protection?), it is very scary to be scammed. I don't understand the wish to pick apart the story before we see any reason at all to doubt it. If the actual reseller wants to jump in and offer their side of the story - now that seems fair - but that hasn't happened yet as Monicca is "unaffiliated with Reebonz".

FWIW I have had plenty of shipments from HK that arrived within a couple days. I've also had emails from my Hermès SAs and from after-sales care on Sundays and holidays.

What is worth paying attention to is that this was a clearly used and much carried Birkin that went through a reseller. It certainly appears questionable to say the least and if counterfeit it is likely that the previous owner may not have been aware of this. This is how fakes end up "in the system".
When buying at resale it behooves us all to pay the nominal sum for an expert authenticator, by which I mean bababebi (I am not aware of an equivalent) and to use a payment method that offers long term protection (Amex Platinum: 90 days, Chase Sapphire and Amex Centurion: 120 days or more).

Hi there

My credit card only has general charge back protection and nothing additional but I paid via PayPal and have opened a dispute. I’m both very nervous but quietly confident that right is on my side so I’m hopeful once the letter arrives Reebonz will do the right thing otherwise I’ll escalate to PayPal and if that doesn’t work I’ll organize a chargeback and notify consumer affairs. I will not give up till I get my refund!

I'm so sorry this happened. PayPal is usually very good with disputes. All you need is H confirming the bag is fake (which has already happened) and you should file your claim.
Frankly I would not wait for Reebonz as PayPal does have time limits on claims and you have an email from H stating bag is counterfeit. You should get those parties in contact and let them fight it out.
I would also wall into Hermès and try to get action there...I know you may be far away but you are looking at AUD 16K I think?! Which is a lot for that bag, If they have confiscated it they need to give you paperwork. Make an appt with the manager.

Hi

Thanks for this. I hadn’t thought to be as assertive as that. PayPal definitely has been notified already so I’ll go through that process. I feel I really need to have the letter from Hermès before I go more aggressive with the refund.

I might try and organize a meeting with the manager but although professional, Hermès have been very vague about the process. I definitely have it in email they will give me a letter but they won’t say what the content will include. I asked for a police report but they said there won’t be one.

I’m actually quite embarrassed by the whole thing but I think I need to swallow my pride and see them face to face. I now also wonder whether this ruined my chances of ever getting a birkin or Kelly from them directly. I guess we can always use my wife’s name but then I can never surprise her!

@ob_solete i wanted to offer my appologies, from my previous concern about authenticating.

I appreciate your calm, collected, professionally spoken replies.

I truly hope you receive a satisfied outcome[emoji173]️

Thank you for your message and I have been educated about why skepticism exists so I apologize if i was tetchy but it’s really hard when you’re stressed about a scenario and people doubt what’s going on. Again thanks for reaching out and as previously mentioned, I will update as things progress.

Au contraire, you may build a great relationship at Hermès from this. Let them know you badly wanted to surprise your wife and felt you had no choice but to go the reseller route. They love great husbands looking for gifts. My first Birkin came from my husband just constantly stalking H in a charming way. You don't actually need to spend a lot or be staggeringly wealthy to build a relationship there; you just need to be a nice person and love the brand.

That’s fantastic to know. I’ll see what they email this week and if nothing I’ll email to organize a face to face meeting. This gives me hope! Thank you

Enough of us have made international purchases to know that for goods to be bought, packed, passed to carriers, shipped, processed by export and import customs, duties paid, delivered within fours days would be very unlikely, especially during the Christmas period.
I did wonder if a digit had got transposed; clearly that was not the case.

I disagree. There is no other reply to 'prove' what I said except those are the dates and I stand by them. I have not kept any packaging on which delivery stamps would be located.
While you may not have saved the packaging, I'm sure that an expensive purchase such as you made had tracking.

Would you mind posting the tracking number? It would certainly prove your case and the dates that you "stand by." And in posting the tracking dates, it will confirm your credibility while not doing anything else to jeopardize your case.

Also, while I realize you haven't received the "letter" from Hermes, can we see a C&P of the email?

I wouldn’t understand why anyone would make all this up, and then keep coming back to defend themselves.
How frequently do you read the ebay subforum?

I don't have experience with Hermes so not sure who is Bababebi but without being rude to them, given my experience I would only trust something is authentic based on Hermes feedback because that is the only guarantee. I'm just really embarrassed now but nothing I can do about it. To their credit, Hermes has been handling it very professionally.
I'm a bit confused.

You say you don't know who Bababebi is yet in this post from April 15, 2013 (5 years ago), after you'd received quite a bit of help from her (using your other ID Fingerscrossed), you stated that you found her website and read it:
"But I do know now after clicking bababebi's website."

BTW, if the bag is indeed fake (and I don't think that's been determined or proven), I think you were premature in opening the Paypal dispute. It's already been months that you say you've been waiting for Hermes to let you know what's going on and even after saying you received an email, you're still waiting for a "letter."

If that letter doesn't come in time, you'll lose the paypal dispute. (And they won't accept an email so that's not an option.)

So I think you should have waited to open the dispute until after you received a letter.

It seems OP had been kept "surprising" his wife with Birkin a lot over past many years:confused1::angel::smile:.

Yep from 2013 to 2018 I’ve kept surprising her every second day with a new birkin bag. Oh and I’m really regular on here as you can see by my huge post history on both those accounts.

Edit: personally I’m quite proud of the money I’ve saved up to buy the birkin over the past 5 years and make no apologies for wanting to surprise my wife and will continue to do so albeit in smaller ways till the day I die.
