Dear all,
Not to be dramatic, but you've been kind to ask and express concern, so I thought I would share what's been going on. Just before Christmas, I discovered that my mother has been the victim of a financial scam. She had been quite secretive and defensive towards me for some months, and now her doctor has diagnosed mild dementia. I've known something was wrong for over a year but could get no diagnosis or action until now. It's quite a mess, and frustrating--and a few other emotions that I will not name in this genteel forum

. Then, in January, my biological grandmother died. Though I'd only known her for about 15 years (I was adopted as an infant), she and I had become close. She lived a good, long life. I will miss her, but I am very grateful I had the chance to know her.
Anyway, I thank you for your friendship and support (you know who you are). It's been comforting to know you are here and that I could pop in for a few minutes of relief from time to time. I'm sorry I haven't been able to contribute. Thank you, thank you for being here.
