The Monkey Hunt Continues...

Now that we've answered when Annie Faivre drew her first monkey, perhaps the question should be, when did she begin to include them regularly? From 1989's Tournez Manege onward, or occasionally here and there until the last few years or so?

Which scarves do we know for sure have a monkey so far?

1984 Etendards et Banniers - No monkey, per RoseUSA
1990 Alphabet 3 - No monkey, per La Vie in Rose
1989 Tournez Manege - Yes, per IrisJ's info
1994 Astres et Soleils - Bond7Girl (not sure)
1999 Amours - Bond7Girl
2001 Aux Pays des Epices - TangoTosca
2008 Le Danse du Cheval Marwari - Lanit
2009 Ors Nomads - La Vie en Rose
2010 Les Domes Celestes - Lanit
2010 La Charmante aux Animaux
2011 Reve de Corail - Lanit
2011 Au Fil du Carre - I think there's supposed to be 17 of them, aren't there?
2012 Tresors Retrouves - there's like half a dozen of you with this one... anybody found it yet?

I heard that there were 18 in Au Fil du Carre but I have never tried to count them.

Here are two more Annie scarves that I thought I would show together because the color ways are similar but the looks are completely different. The third photo, taken on a hanger, reflects my frustration with taking photos with the camera at arms length. I finally gave up trying to get the entire scarf in one photo.

L'Atlantide has a monkey. I verified it today!

This is a close up of my Gavroche "Jardin d'Eden" (early 2000's). Either it's a monkey or it's:devil: Satan!

Silkies, you're going to get sick of my mug. Here is my contribution to Annie week. Reve de Corail is the first scarf I fell in love with and she started the obsession. I have two cws, the blackand white that I have worn 5 times and this one. This is the first time I have worn her; she came out for Annie week.

Here is the Grands Fonds bangle as requested...

Gorgeous! Thanks for sharing.

2 contrasts in a row...aaaargh! Euridice, I return your compliments, in spades (in honor of Faivre's Tarot)

John

Thanks, John!!

Happy Birthday, sparklelisab!

Euridice - Fantastic colors in your beautiful GM - lovely cosy spring look (not every spring day is warm!!)

Love those cooler spring days! Thanks, Sushi queen!

Ooh, more gorgeousness!!! Lovely Annie scarves!

This is super-gorgeous! I just love the contrast hem, too!! This is similar to Fritillary's but it's a different CW, right?

Well, well, well

I wasn't expecting to find a monkey in 1991's Le Tarot, but lo and behold... there it is, in The Wheel of Fortune card.

Wheel monkey.jpg

I've written about the history of this scarf here, but I'll reprint this here too

When one thinks of a Tarot deck, the images that typically come to mind are those drawn by illustrator Pamela Colman Smith from the instructions of academic and mystic A. E. Waite, and published by the Rider Company in 1909. What I find interesting about this scarf is how Annie Faivre has re-imagined the cards, while still retaining their recognizability. Compare Ms. Fairve's illustration of The Wheel of Fortune to the standard Rider-Waite version.

Annie's is awesomer, 'cause it has a monkey!

The complete scarf. The Wheel of Fortune card is located in the upper left quadrant.

Apparently my monkey brought a snorkel along for some Under the Sea action! Now if I can just find that GF one...

In the lower left hand corner of 2001's Rencontre Oceane, below her signature

I'll tell ya'll one thing... examining Annie Faivre's scarves with my nose one inch away from the fabric looking for those darn monkeys has given me a whole new appreciation for the genius of her work.

And is also leaving me in need of an optometrist.
