Today wearing one of Annie Faivre's scarves from among my Forgotten 24 - Reve de Corail. Hermes seems to use gold in their scarves much more than silver, and indeed is so famous for their black/gold/white scarves (Les Cles and Astrologie come to mind). This periwinkle and silver color combination is such a refreshing change and goes so beautifully with gray.

TangoTosca

Thank you for the research on the Annie Faivre scarves. Your Reve is lovely!

Here are two that I'd always had a hard time finding the signature and the monkey on. The older one, Alphabet III, I don't think has a monkey in it, but I did find something like a signature (no monkey near it or anywhere else on the scarf, that I could tell--but if someone has found it, let me know!). The second one, Ors Nomades, I found both (finally!).

TT, you wear Reve de Corail so beautifully. It is one of my all time favorite patterns.

Sending many thanks for for the warm welcome and kind comments to,
MetzFan, Iris J, sushi queen, TangoTosca, RoseUSA, Euridice, and hair-mess!

Iris J, As always, exquisite color combinations, and wonderful photos! I'm having difficulty getting good pictures, which you seem to achieve effortlessly!

Bienchen, Your Grand Fonds II shawl is so gorgeous, and the beautiful color combination suits you perfectly!

TangoTosca, Thanks so much for the list of Annie Faivre's designs. I'm fairly new to collecting, and have not yet acquired even one!

RoseUSA, regarding knots for various levels of silk drape, perhaps a quick visit over to MaiTai's website might help? She has loads of photos and ideas, for how to wear the various sizes and weights of scarves.

hair-mess, Love the casual "triangle twist" knot, thanks so much for sharing!

frou frou, I love your Grand Fonds worn as a hairband, adorable!

Euridice, Lovely Psyche, and so glad you were able to find a replacement!

Sparklelisab, Happy Birthday, and it sounds like you celebrated in style!

hermesguy, Love the pop of color poking out from under your collar!

Phew...my first go round at this! I'm sure I've missed commenting on other gorgeous posts. Thanks everyone for sharing, and I look forward to seeing more lovely silk!

Dear Scarf Beauties, Going through more than 20 pages of scarf posts has been so much fun this evening. Incredible RED scarves last week--I wish I'd been seeing them in real-time, as the color is my favorite. TangoTosca (thanks for the scarf week listing for the year!), that red Danse is one of my favorites. I have it in the pochette, and while I don't often wear it, it's my profile pic on my phone! Maybe it's because I see it everyday that I don't pull it out so often. And Textilegirl . . . OMG. That red Labhai. OMG. I love it. How did that escape my ebay monitoring? I bow to you!

VnSoie!!! You are CRACKING me up. This is Chevre, my baby. She will eat your dandalions and whatever else you have on the ground. (I realize I have never posted my face, and this is scarfless, earring-less and donning a sweatshirt but I will swalllow vanity...)

Your photo, Sparklelisab, gives me so much pleasure I can't help but pull it out with a quote. I love how you show us your little animal babies--the ones on my own farm bring me so much pleasure, and seeing you with yours gives me such a rush.

Thank you for the compliments on the Crayons and Coral silks Tango, fritillary, froufrou, metzfan, iris, and rose.

Wow - such beautiful silks again this week. You all look marvelous! More comments later, but here is a favorite La Danse du Cheval Marwari. When I find the Monkey I will photograph for you.:D

Ahhhhh . . . such a beautiful colorway of this, dear Lanit! One of my favorite designs by a favorite designer!

TangoTosca, Euridice, hair-mess, Bienchen, fritillaryB, thank you :cloud9:

Euridice, the monkey on Amours is just below the petal on the basket brim. Well, it's more of a Cheshire monkey as all you see it's its grinning face. Never enough of Brazil on this thread, really! One of the most iconic designs to me, in all its incarnations - and yours is so cozy. And you were closer than your SA, Psyché is psee-shay ;)

RoseUSA, I've struggled with one of my older scarves, a jacquard Daimyo that is so soft, it is practically limp. Until I came up with a Markova variation on a cowboy knot: instead of tying the loose corners behind or hiding them under the triangle of your scarf in front, make Markova knots on these corners and throw them in front to lay/hang off each of your shoulders. The whole construction magically stays in place, and it gives structure to a soft scarf.

Hair-mess, thank you for sharing the mystery knot! As a cowboy knot is what I usually end up doing in a hurry, I can't wait to practice this variation. A lovely, lovely Poneys cw as well.

Lanit, so many of your scarves look like jewels! What a gorgeous combination of colors on this Cheval Marwari, and this is a beautiful lipstick on you.

Frou frou, the headband look is so stylish on you!

Bienchen and Ladybaga, on a hat is the only way a silk scarf can see the light of day in the prairie summers. This style was born out of desperation :)

John, you must have a truly fantastic and extensive collection. I'm always amazed at designs you pull out.

TangoTosca, another stunner cw of Rêve de Corail, so cool and refreshing.

I mostly failed finding the monkey on my Astres et soleils finesse (such a busy design! everyone has a tail!) but just when I was about to give up... I think this might be the little rascal, to the left to the stylized H:

While I have yet to collect any Annie Faivre scarves, I do have some monkeys to contribute this week!

sushi queen: have now updated blog.

John: like the second knot a lot more as it shows more of the design.

Fritillary B: great neutrals in Aux Pays des Epices, I adore this design as it combines my love for growing and eating edibles.

Ladybaga/Etoile de Mer: thank you

Etoile de Mer that is a very sweet gavroche!

Congratulations for your first SHAWL and new BAG! They are awesome! For me, sunshine yellow becomes your color. I really love the colors of your shawl. Can’t wait to see your modeling pics!:D
My Silkie Friends, I posted a reveal of a Birthday Bash this weekend, but I had to share something personal with my scarf friends. No one in my life wears scarves, and if they do, they cost $19.99 (no snooty judgment here--just trying to help you understand)and no one knows what Hermes scarves are and just how important they have become to me so who can I share my excitement with? YOU! This birthday weekend, I picked out my first SHAWL. I kept thinking of you all!!

I spent quite a bit of time at the scarf counter with a fun, odd woman who was also buying a shawl. She loved the Feline scarf and had a few cws in her pile. For an animal lover, you would think that this shawl would rock my world. Nope. Didn't do anything for me. Then, the Kimonos scarf?? The one that many of you swoon for?? The lime green wasn't working for me in the particular cw I was trying on, and I was feeling so disappointed. Au Fil du Carre wasn't working either.. My stranger friend had on a lovely piece draped over her shoulders--nothing fancy, but she said, honey, try on this one. To be nice I did and that was history. I don't own any "horse-ish" scarves and to fall in love with this one is so unpredictable to me. But on, it took my breath away. Crazy. It came home with me. A perfect neutral! I am so excited: my sa said these were addictive. I'm scared.

Thank you for letting me digress from Annie week with my first shawl! Mors a Jouets. (and my new bag!)

Tango! WOW! Thank you for your amazing list! Annie Faivre is incontestably my most favorite designer! If I could collect all of them...
For the first apparition of the famous monkey, I think that was on the Tournez Manege (1989). The president of H, Jean-Louis Dumas is depicted as a Tiger, in his Chinese astrological sign, and Annie as a monkey there. :D

Speaking of finding the monkey, Scarf Addict and Rose, I'm not convinced that there really is a monkey in every single one of Annie Faivre's designs. She has a huge body of work - 46 scarves over 30 years. I'll have to do some more research to verify this, but she might be the most prolific artist Hermes has ever employed.

I would be curious to know when she began adding her signature monkey to her designs. I wonder if that was something she did occasionally since the beginning of her career, or if it was something she adopted in the last 10 - 15 years. Maybe if we pool our collective resources, we can account for all those that exist?
