Which Rolex?

I think both are fine. I would pick the black face. It looks a little sharper than the blue imo. I am going to start saving for a Sub for my DH. But there are so many temptations :graucho:!

Well, my DH does not really want many things. He would like a motocycle, but that will never happen because of me. A Sub is totally my idea only because I would like him to have a nice sporty watch (so he would say in reality, it is a gift for myself :p)

Hehe of course! I am tempted to buy it ASAP but since I'm in school full-time, it'll take a while for me save up for it :p. I was debating between the blue or black face, but I think I've settled on black since it's more classic and more easy to match. What do you think?

I'm goin to be devils advocate and say blue. I was such a fan of black until I saw my friends blue face. It looks better as it wears in the end against stainless steel and compliments better. My friend has the date just and i love it! I also feel it's easier to wear everyday bit maybe that's just me. The black face doesn't have enough "depth"? Hard to explain but I prefer blue tone for a softer more fluid color?

And yes! Reveal please when you do!

Hi please could someone advise me. It’s my hubby’s 40th bday in November and I would love to buy him a Rolex. He’s a real watch fan and to receive a Rolex would be a complete treat for him. I am not sure which one to purchase as I know nothing about the types and styles available and the website does not show any prices. I cannot afford the most expensive styles of Rolex but I am not sure which styles are in the lowest price range. I have heard good things about the Submariner. Does anyone have this watch? Pics would be so helpful. I read that a new Submariner with a green dial is coming out in September which is reasonably priced. I would love any recommendations or explanations about which is the best style in the lower price range. An idea of his style is that he usually wears the Chronograph style or sporty style watches, he doesn’t wear anything too blingy but he likes something a little unusual and the dials do not have to be black, silver or gold. Thank you so much for your help
im also a big watch guy and i own quite a few myself

i currently have 2 rolexes and have probably owned 4 or 5 more

the biggest question comes down to what your price range is

a budget of $5-7k covers many options

currently i have an oyster perpetual date......steel with the salmon colored face and i have an air king thats steel with a blue face

ive previously owned a gmt master ii.....a submariner and a yacht master

also.....the most important thing i can tell you is to be sure that you only buy from a dealer listed on the rolex site

a common problem ive had is that regardless of a buckle or glidelock clasp....the pins on either side of them arent any stronger than the ones on the rest of the band and they tend to bend or pop out if they get caught on something.....or just banged around enough

all rolex repairs get sent out to be fixed and if it isnt from an authorized dealer they wont fix them......so the dealer you bought it from will repair it themselves

you will not get a rolex piece......it will devalue the watch.....you also run the risk of having it stripped of its original parts and replaced with a cheap copy because there is a big market for original rolex parts since they are so difficult to come by

if you do buy one that was previously owned.......make sure you get the original purchase paperwork showing it was bought through a rolex dealer

have any other questions let me know

also if t doesnt necessarily have to be a rolex

what other watches does he own?

how often would he wear it?

more dressy or a more sporty everyday watch?

i may be able to give you some other non-rolex ideas

Thanks whoops!!! I really like blue too but we happened to go into the Rolex store today and he mentioned how nice the black face looked. I also think black fits me better as well when I get the matching Datejust 36 down the road :p

Another vote for the Milgauss-though the Sub with the black face is classic. Have you looked into vintage rolexes? The prices can be great, and they are truly beautiful.

I am the most boring one to post but I don't think I would spend so much on a watch with a colored face. I'd get stainless with a white, silver or black face I think. Super classic goes with everything.

hahahaha  this!

Maybe it's just me but black looks horrendous on me! lol It depends on what your DF wants and what he likes. My DF is notorious for having the crazy colored orange and yellow brights. The milgaus just screamed something he would wear! His other watch has an orange face and the other has a pink face (it was a gift from an ex).

And HECK YEA for the price it better be something he wears all the time! I'm scared I'm going to buy it for him and he never wear it. Just like he would be livid if i didn't wear my engagement ring like some other girls we know.
