My vote is for this one too! After I saw this thread I went to rolex to look at it for my DF. Our wedding color is orange and it would be perfect! I'm still debating on it because I promised him no over the top wedding gifts. But this seems to be perfect! I put it next to the date just and this was much nicer in my opinion.

I think it's the perfect unique gift for your husband. Let us know what you decide and happy early birthday to your husband!

The price on the Milgauss is also REALLY reasonable. I almost bought it for my DF last month because not only is my DF a scientist (Milgauss was originally made for scientists that worked near strong magnetic fields PLUS the orange lightning bolt is so cool!); HOWEVER, my DF wants a date. . .so DateJust II it is!

I think it was $6600 but the store wasn't going to bargain even for cash... So if I do get it, I need to find a place who would do it which there should be a lot. But DF may kill me if I spend that much on him. So I'm still playing with a few more personal gifts so we shall see... One he can't refuse.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure there are a few ADs that will budge on the price for some COLD HARD CASH haha. Does Chong Hing carry Rolex? I know the CH down here doesn't but Hing Wa Lee does. I think the Milgauss looks cleaner, esp without the cyclops eye, and I like how the black face is actually a really dark gray face and the orange just pops against it!! The 40 inch case does look a tad small on my DF's wrist because of the smooth bezel. I hope you find something soon!!

You may want to also consider a Sub, It has date. My husband is the same way, and he needs to have date. Sub is propably the most popular model among guys. I personally think it is the best one as the first Rolex. It is more expensive, but if you already plan to spend that much money, Maybe you can stretch a little more :p?

I think it's a very nice idea to surprise your DH with such a nice gift. But if you buy a Rolex from an AD, it's almost unheard of to be able to return it. Maybe you should either take him shopping (spoiling the surprise--sorry) or try to get a really good idea what he wants.
Would hate for you to spend that kind of money and get something that was not what he would have chosen.
Unless he's the kind of guy who is happy to wear what you give him.

Thanks ryu_chan!! The Submariner is a really nice watch!! We actually went to the Rolex store the other day and he tried on the submariner, the datejust, milgauss, etc. and he really loved the Date Just II. I could just tell by the way his eyes lit up when he saw it on his wrist that this was the watch for him (besides the fact that he almost didn't want to give the watch back!). It just looked perfect on his wrist! I can't wait to get it for him so I can see his face light up again like that :p

Hehe of course! I am tempted to buy it ASAP but since I'm in school full-time, it'll take a while for me save up for it :p. I was debating between the blue or black face, but I think I've settled on black since it's more classic and more easy to match. What do you think?
