Which handbag have you gotten the most compliments on?

I've gotten a lot of bag compliments in my life - funnily enough, most of them have been about my cheaper bags. That might tell a lot about my way of shopping for bags; when I use a lot of money, I think too much and go too safe, but if I'm spending just a few euros I'm a lot braver.
I make choices that might not make sense there and then but in the end, prove to be hits.
A good example of this was buying a white clutch with applique fruit on it (BEFORE Carrie Bradshaw made crazy clutch bags socially acceptable). I got soooo many compliments on that el cheapo fruit salad clutch! I loved and used it to bits and bid a sad farewell to it a couple of years ago after it getting too scruffy to use anymore.

My designer bags tend to be more subtle in look, Mulberry Tillie drawstring gathers compliments despite her simple looks but mostly for the luscious leather. Same goes for my beloved M Antony. Not blow-your-mind fantastic-looking bags but the materials are great which people in the know will appreciate. Dull but safe.

Also, besides the fruit salad bag, my Guess clutches have gotten a lot of love from others; one is shiny silver, another one gold, so they turn heads. Up here it's a bit risky to wear or carry anything show-offy - a good example was my best friend's wedding a year ago where I wore a knee-length deep red dress with one shoulder covered in fabric roses and carried my gold clutch; almost everyone else was wearing black or beige. Needless to say, this 6'1" amazon in her 4-inch heels stood out a bit... :rockettes:

I've been complimented on my PS11 the most, mainly for it's colour (purple rain). I've also had compliments on my Alexander Wang Rocco bag. I rarely get insults, people tend to keep those to themselves lol.

Yeah i know what you mean - I don't think i hang around in circles where people who insult me because im interested in something. I enjoy looking at people's bags in general when im on the streets and stuff and i wish i were more brave about asking people and complimenting people when i like something!

Yes, I do receive compliments now and then. Those who know me and know my bags have learned that those compliments can turn out quite well for them. As in: I am moving and downsizing, so I have passed along different bags to those who have exclaimed over them in the past (hugging, petting, and stroking them...). Some bags are works of art or have luscious leather - yet do not work well for me; others wind up not getting used as much as they should.

I absolutely LOVE being able to pass along a spectacular bag to a friend when I know she will appreciate and love it. I have donated many bags, but I have given away even more to friends who would never buy them for themselves. So much fun to share the bag love, and it all starts with...compliments.

When I bought my Bal City in 2005 all my colleagues complimented me about it. None of them even knew it was a Balenciaga and they didn't ask.
When my best friend saw my YSL Muse, she fell in love with it immediately. I gave it to her and she is very proud of wearing it.
I always compliment a person carrying a bag I like, even a stranger sitting next to my table at a café or on the train.
I just can't help it....

That's lovely. :smile1: I do it too, sometimes, even at work when I see a customer carry a nice wallet or bag. Once, someone on tPF said how they "saw a woman carrying a Balenciaga and she just wanted to squeak and run over to her" - well, that happened to me, too at work a few weeks back when I saw a woman carry a black Hermes Evelyne. I just settled on complimenting her bag and excellent taste (since it's one of my HG bags). Could hardly retain myself, though... :D

I carry my Goyard St Louis on a daily basis. The other day at work, I hopped in the elevator and held the doors for these 2 other ladies who had been waiting for the elevator but got stuck talking to someone. So when they finished, they got in and thanked me. 1 lady exclaimed that she loves my bag, and the other agreed with her and then pointed out my red shoes that match my red bag. They were so excited over my accessories, and they then proceeded to say "don't mind us, we're old" lol.

It's nice to get compliments that don't lead into the "where did you get it," "how much did it cost," type of conversation. I doubt either of them recognized that it's Goyard, so it makes it even nicer that they just liked it because of the style, print, color, etc.

Yes, I do get compliments for almost all my bags, at work, at the medical offices, from sales people and cashiers, and other customers. It's always a nice surprise as I don't expect people to really notice.

I get a lot of compliments on my LV Totally but it isn't my favorite bag by far. I use it the most because it is indestructible and I wear it to work out 3 or 4 days a week because it is ok to put on the floor. But my favorite compliment was when I was at the mall and I had my Ink City and a woman who looked well into her 70's told me it was 'exquisite".

Ah I love this story. It reminds me of when I went to a Chinese restaurant with my friend and she was carrying a minkoff mab and the older server there kept exclaiming to my friend how much she loves her bag the whole lunch. Eventually she got around to asking where she bought it and her look of shock mixed with admiration was so cute. She exclaimed that it was too expensive for her without being rude and kept letting my friend know she has good taste! I was carrying my Chloe paraty but she didn't even look twice at it..,haha
