Where to place bag when in restaurant?

It's actually a superstition in my culture not to let your purse touch the floor. ( If it does by accident you must spit on the bottom of it or spit 3 times off to the side. When I say spit ,I just mean a little water from your mouth. Not actually spitting)
If you put your purse on the floor it is said to mean that you are throwing your money away, your money will go away or you will no longer have money. This is a terrible thought so of course I try to make sure my purse never touches a floor. Although, I did drop mine yesterday but I spit so I should be good. ( LMAO)
Again when I say spit , it's more like making a spitting gesture with just a tad of spit .
The only time I'll put my purse on the table is if I'm carrying a tiny bag and it's a large table. Otherwise I sit it in my lap or next to me. I never intentionally let it touch the floor.

If a chair is not available to put my purse on I usually have it uncomfortably in my lap - I try to take small or crossbody type purses when I dine out. NEVER on the floor - even in my own home - NEVER - and forget the restroom floor - sooo disgusting - makes me mad when the bathroom stall does not have a purse hook - even very cheap bags never go on the floor

Unless it’s a beach bag, I never put my bag on the ground / floor anywhere, anytime. But then I’m also someone who doesn’t wear shoes in my house because floors are nasty. :yucky:

I don’t carry big bags so, I can often put my bag on the table without it taking much room. Sometimes I put it an empty chair or in the chair next to me. Rarely I use a purse hanger. I never keep it on my lap because that would feel awkward to me.

Always on an empty seat. If we're a party of 2, we say party of 3 (bag gets a seat). ;) Some places offer those charming footstools or baskets that set the bag close to the diner and not on the floor.

We have this too. Not the spitting part, but that fact that the money in your bag will be gone. Who wants that kind of juju? I spent so much money on the bag, I need whatever money in my bag to stay in there lol.

In regards to where I put my bag at a restaurant, if I know there aren’t bench seats I’ll bring a smaller crossbody. If there are chairs, I’ll use an empty chair. And i also keep a Clippa in my mini pochette in the event there’s no place to leave my bigger bags.

Empty chair if available. Otherwise, back of the chair, but occasionally it has been knocked off from there. I will occasionally put it on the floor, though I prefer not to do that for the ick factor, and also because it's a tripping hazard. If I do put it on the floor, I wipe off the base with a lightly damp cloth when I get home. In a restroom, I will put down a seat cover on the floor if there is no hook and I'll rest my bag there.

If there isn’t an empty chair I use my Clipa purse hook. Works better for shorter handle purses but even with longer ones I somehow make it work. This hook has saved me many times, even in the washroom. Never go out without it.

I usually stick it on a spare chair or beside me if there’s room, or hang it off the chair if it has a shoulder strap. I wouldn’t mess about with fixing a purse hook or place it on the table. If there’s no other option I have been known to put on the floor out of the way (- horrors!!:nuts::nuts:) and forget about for the rest of the meal!!

If in a booth, next to me. If at a table I like to put on a chair near me. If there is no chair available sometimes I'll hang on back of chair but I don't like to do that as I feel I can't really keep my eye on it there.

We have the same superstition about the money going away! First time I hear about the spitting part.

I've never seen those! And I agree with others, the bathroom floor is nasty and why I hate getting a stall where there is no hook on the door and refuse to use the baby table! I put down some papers on the floor and put my bag down for the few minutes I need to and get out of there fast!
