Tokyo definitely has a good variety you might not even see in Europe, of course the prices are much higher.

but why not try out all 3 places, US, Paris, and Tokyo (since you live there soon).... you'll never know what you can find. ;)

In any case, I was in the Mexico City store on Marsayak street a few years ago and there were 10 Birkins on the shelf. The Directrice told me that Birkins dont sell well in MC.

oh wow, they should be sending those stock to Asia. Birkins are much in demand here we don't even see them on the shelves, ever. Except in japan...

Try Rue du Faubourg Saint Honore, Paris. I was lucky enough to purchase my first B there last Sept '09 during my honeymoon. I've tried to purchase one in Spain and Italy but they will just ignore you (if you're not a local).

P.S. Better be early though as they usually bring out the Birkins in the morning!

hi ladies, my mom wants to get a birkin but she doesn't know how to get around buying it. After reading the previous posts, i realized that its nearly impossible to get it in Singapore since the waiting list is 3 years. So we were wondering if we could get it in Paris upon walk-in, or do we have to call ahead and secure the bag first, or we'd have to be on the waiting list for Paris' store. Please help!

Hi there, Birkins are not as hard to get as before. I recently walked in SF and they had a purple one in the display shelf. I've also passed up chocolate and black, all in 35. But, if you're going to Europe, Switzerland specifically, definitely try Basel. Everytime I'm there, I've run into at least a couple of available Birkins. Not as busy as Geneva (they satisfy their client list first and diplomats), Lausanne is snobby and never any luck in Zurich (too international and people on their way to banks with lots of money). Again try Basel

It is possible to score a Birkin as a walk-in in Paris. You cannot, however, call ahead to reserve a bag. Walking-in and scoring one depends a lot on luck, so it is NOT a given.

I would strongly suggest Japan if you want to be sure that you will be able to come home with a birkin. Prices are significantly steeper, but at least you will be more or less assured that you will get a bag, with great service to boot.

Paris is really a hit or miss (this is from very painful personal experience, LOL), so don't get your hopes too high for that. It was really crushing the last time I went, had flown up more or less just to buy a birkin and came home empty handed. But others have fared much better!! So really a matter of luck. :D

Does anyone know if we can place birkin order over the phone?
I want to order one in Paris because of the price but not sure how to do this? Or can you get a friend in Paris to order it for you and get it shipped to Australia (i live in australia)?
I just called the H store in Gold Coast today and the SA says it is possible to order over the phone, but maybe it is just within the country.

Here in New York I think you can pretty much get what you want. The waiting list really doesn't exist and although "special orders" may be difficult, I would guess that they are not entirely impossible. BTW beautiful colour combination on the Etaupe/Framboise lining Birkin! Best of luck in your search and keep us posted on what turns out of this.

Guys please help.. I want to buy my 1st birkin and I want 35 clemence or Togo in any color. I was in singapore this week they had a wait list for 3 years. Called Bond Street London they won't be taking orders for this year.India wait list for a year.. Where should I try??
