Dear all,

I am also looking for a SO 30/35cm with colorful lining, I am planning my trip to stop over in Narita, Japan hoping to score some fantastic combination. If anyone has suggestions pls PM, or if any one is in the H stores and spot an TDF combo, pls PM.
Thanks in advance, and i hope to hear from all die-hard shoppers.

:idea: Invitation is extended to everyone to meet @ Narita - Haven't decided the day for the stop over, will/can wait for attendees to join.

:angel::faint::faint::angel: Dreams coming true.

I hope you will be able to hunt one down in JP, i'm excited for you. do keep us posted as inputs are much appreciated;)

The likelihood of getting a birkin in any H boutiques in Japan is very high as I have observed in the multiple trips I have made to the country in recent years. They seem to have at least 1 on the shelf in the boutiques I have visited.

Try the H boutique at Isetan Shinjuku...

However, the price that you have to pay for a birkin is comparatively much higher in Japan than in SG or M'sia.

Celia,

There are a few threads on placing SO or podium orders. You might want to do a search on them as some SAs might get "turned off" from hearing the word SO if you are not already a regular customer to them. It is my experience that in Asia, they would put you down on a list for SO or podium when in fact, NONE was placed for you. Whatever stock that comes in that matches your criteria, they would simply go down the list of customers. If your color/leather combination is too unique, that would mean that you might NEVER get the call.

Having said the above, this was the implication I got while discussing birkin orders with a few SAs in Taipei, Shanghai and Hong Kong. Again, it depends on your relationship with the SA and bear in mind that a lot of the TPFers are seasoned H customers with their local respective store. Thus, a lot of the special reveals on this site are more of an "exception" rather than the norm.

I do hope that you can get lucky when you go to FSH or Tokyo. There are so many H stores in Tokyo and your likelihood of finding what you want is quite high. I would definitely visit Ginza store, if not to buy but also to experience the H store ambience as well as the excellent customer service one always expects in Japan.

Good luck! Keep us posted for your special reveal!

Awww....thanks so much for the info. I will definitely do a search regarding SO or podium orders. Of course i understand that it always goes to the regular customers or even VIPs...like me, with no r/s with any SA which i need to build my r/s with them slowly;)

But if i can't wait that long, i probably try in Japan or maybe paris (hopefully) or even in Australia (since the chance is even higher but no SO birkins). Will see and hopefully i can hunt one down and will have to depends on my luck then....lol:smile1::graucho:

Really? i havent been goin to Japan for awhile, guess i have to make a trip there soon as i know it's a H land in Japan....lol;)

Btw, how much higher in Japan vs SG/M'sia, like 20% more?

Podium orders is like a waiting list - the SAs will search for you. SO is actually an order placed by an existing customer but it's a definite order unless it is too unique but they will tell you upfront whether it is possible or not at the time. Since it's going to be your first Birkin, unless you know of a family member who can help u get your foot in the door with a SA, I'd say a walk-in selection in Japan is equally as good. Good luck and I hope you get what you want.

I placed a SO for a Marwari GM cuz I didn't like any of the colours out there right now and it was accepted. It is much easier to place a SO for other bags than Birkins especially since H does not require a deposit. It might be a little bit tougher for you since it's your first one? Maybe you might be able to be offered a SO if it is your second or third... that's what happened with me cuz my first one was a PO, second one was a walk-in and now just waiting for my Birkin and Marwari SO. HTH!!!

Actually, you've just described a PO, not an SO.

A PO is a definite order which you wait for and will be in a color and skin that is ordered. Just because a skin or color is rare does NOT mean it is an SO. It can still be POed, and if not this season, then the next.

An SO is an order for a skin and color or combination that is not usually offered. For example, bi-color. It comes with a horseshoe stamp. You pick out the color and skin from the leather book, decide on color of piping, lining, clochette, and even stitching (they have all the stitching colors sewn on a piece of leather for you so you can hold it again the color/skin you want). Personally, it is an elaborate process - what I call, "design your own Birkin/Kelly". These are offered very very sparingly, only to the stores' best customers.

When an SA does a global search, well, I dunno what to call it. It is not a PO, maybe more a "wishlist".

Thanks TammyD for further clarification. Now i totally understand abt the different order terms but of course SO is definitely not a NO NO for me...sigh. Guess i really have to try on those resellers. Thanks everyone again for all the inputs here.;)

i dont know if i am helping but you can try Las Vegas Bellagio's Hermes about being waitlisted because my sa informed me that it is opened but depending on what you are looking for it may take time. I just got on the waiting list for a cherve 30 raisin birkin so maybe you can give them a call or something. I hope this can help you. GOOD LUCK!!!

Celia Hish - sorry to confuse you!!! TammyD clarified it better!!! Sorry, I confused you with my order on the PO and SO cuz I made both. PO was just on the Marwari GM but SO on the Birkin...it doesn't hurt to ask cuz you never know what responses you may get from SA since it varies from one to another!!! But for PO, it's not definite either cuz if a bag comes in, the SA will just look down their list to see who ask for it first however if you are chummy with a particular SA, they might be nice enough to search for you and send it from another store.
