What’s your unpopular Hermes opinion?

I recently traveled to not very rich country, in the hotel lobby I saw 2 girls from the oldest profession with Bs, one with Oran sandals, the other with the new espadrilles/slides, that I bought recently 🙈 both wore super short denim shorts. I questioned my choices and felt a bit disappointed that the brand has become so mass market. I shared it with my husband and he said, that most probably the bags were fakes. Not that this is calming.
Ha, I’ve seen a few random shops in Italy selling “H-inspired” accessories, especially Oran sandals, that were almost 1:1 copy of the OG product, just no brand name, and I even saw a Firkin 😂 so I thought why should I worry about wearing my Birkin while traveling if some people might think it’s a fake 🤣

As for how people style their Hermes, it’s not like the brand does a background check on who’s buying 😅

I feel the same when it comes to other Hermes H-branded merchandise, and I also dislike Kelly lock detail used on shoes, belts and so on... If one has a Birkin or Kelly with this lock mechanism, why would he/she want to wear the matching shoes, belt, jewellery? It feels so unimpressive to me, just a way to show off "look I wear Hermes head to toe".... Social media totally ruined Hermes in a way, it's not a quiet luxury brand anymore, easily recognisable...
1000%. Funny how now because of SM many are obsessed with the Birkin or Kelly BECAUSE it’s recognizable. Nothing quiet about it.

You think it’s just the new members who are struggling? I’ve been here for years and not sure what half of them actually mean…:hrmm:
On another note I adore the miniature silver kelly necklace and have two. The contemporary version and the vintage one - which is the cutest little thing with movable lock - and an opening.
Omg!! I never knew the existence of this Kelly necklace charm with movable lock and opening. Love it. Thanks for sharing

UO: I can’t stand leather charms for bags. I told my SA that I’m not interested in hanging Christmas ornaments on bags. There I finally said it. (Run for cover)

UO: I find this necklace childish. I wouldnt even wear this if i was in my 20s.

Necklace in lacquered metal.
The Grande Parade line immerses you in the vibrant and celebratory spirit of the Faubourg. Signature details like the Artificier and the Cheval come to life, creating a sense of weightlessness, as if suspended and carried by motion.

Made in France

Metallic finish: Rose gold plated

OMG. That's so cute to me although I don't know how I'll incorporate that into my wardrobe.

I know what you mean, but there is a whole frou frou, 'junk' jewellery aesthetic that's very popular in France (a la Les Néridés). When I visited my mother there, there always seemed queues around the block for this cutesy costume jewellery stuff.

I know that H is armed with shrink wrap machines for those who demand to be the first to unwrap the box. I have seen that hissy fit in a review online.
This blows my mind; it would never even occur to me. In all my years (OMG, like 27 years) I can count on one hand the number of times I have even seen an item being unwrapped from the plastic.

Is it an UO that I would want my SA to check what’s in the box before presenting it to me?
many (myself included) have stopped posting offers in general. That is a shame because again, to your point, it does provide great perspective in terms of what is available, colours that are in heavy rotation, etc.

@jenayb
Let me plead to you all not to refrain from posting offers; ALTERNATIVELY, if you want to remain private, please send them to me directly at TheNotoriousPink1 @ gmail . com (photos not necessary but appreciated). I use MANY sources to put together my color charts, and several TPF threads are among my first stops.

[I am working on it right now, and my brain is starting to fry because on the H websites I have to translate color names. Some countries turn the names into a phonetic spelling (“Aban” in Korean is Havane, I think??? :wtf: ), while other languages don’t quite translate to English (Gris Misty in Chinese is, ah…“Cumulous Cloud Ash” :whut: )]

I get this, but honestly the Kelly belt may be one of H’s most value-for-price items because of the easy size adjustability. I don’t mind the turnlock, it’s actually easier to close than a regular belt, and I think it is comparatively understated.

I dislike the emphasis on in-crowd acronyms! A QB weirdly isn't Patrick Mahomes, and an SO is constructed of leather and hardware and not that very patient guy over there.
 This is so clever, I just had to acknowledge you.:ps:

Can someone explain what is going on over here? :giggle:

Ok, my UO is that I don’t understand all the concern about pre-spend - I’m not talking about actual amounts spent (an issue I definitely understand), I’m talking about people struggling to “find” what to buy. I have never (not once!) counted how much I’ve spent and TBH I have the opposite problem: I loooooove so many different things H offers that I have to make an effort to not go crazy! :panic: But then I don’t ask for bags all that often; the 2 QB per year is plenty for me (another UO).

My friend if I consistently get two QB a year I will never complain!!! I suspect that because my store is known for being low stock that I may get one a year - if I’m lucky - with a 3:1 spend! So I think you can see where a tiny bit of complaining may happen…

Editing to add: UO. If I lived in a location frequented by tourists I would get annoyed by people constantly asking “can I get a bag as a tourist walk in” in my home store thread. I seriously do not get the urge to shop “elsewhere” instead of your home store. Paris is special. Everywhere else you go is not like Paris.

When me and my DH were at FSH store and could see all the bags and sizes, while waiting for my appointment, I asked my DH what about Constance, should there be a case where SA brings it out as an option? He said: absolute NO, we’re not buying that 😄 Luckily, SA brought out a Birkin for us 🤣

For some reason he doesn’t like H as a clasp 🤣

Regular Constance is not my top choice either, but recently I saw a clutch version in croco at the airport and proportion-wise it seemed really nice 🖤 I can’t imagine the price range for this one 🙈
I don't like the Giant H either. One, because it's two obvious. Two, because when I had the belt with the giant H, I discovered it scratches too easily.
