What’s your unpopular Hermes opinion?

Hermes of today is kinda cheap and coasting on past glories.

My mother’s passport holder had pockets, a contrasting lining, and held closed with a sterling silver pen. And it was saddle stitched. My passport holder is a tarmac, with raw leather, maybe 4” of stitching all together, and a leather-covered snap.

When I called a boutique and got ahold of someone, I was told that the Bastia replaced the etui au perservatif. Again, they discontinued the saddle stitched, lined, multiple pockets item - the thing that took actual craftsmanship.

I love the calvi and the bastia. They’re pretty, and easy to use and hold a lot. But they also look like the sort of leather project I’ve taught middle-school students in a craft class.
My Bastia fell apart! I was told I can have it fixed but have to fly in to pick it up - store is in another state. I prob could get it fixed here.

Vert yucca reminds me of a certain grumpy muppet. Sorry if you can’t unsee it. :angel:View attachment 5845999
Too funny.

I dunno, I think it just looks like the yucca plants in my yard

Here's a possibly unpopular opinion: most H colors are named logically even if with some imagination (Blue Électrique, Raisin, Craie, Nata, Terre Battue, Bleu Atoll, Gris Tourterelle, even the godawful Crevette....all of these you can easily get a sense without ever seeing the color).
Then there are colors like Vert Fizz. What is fizzy about that color? And Bleu Frida is not Frida Kahlo blue!

some one asked my prespend to be offered a K to go/ Danse bag. Do I calculate my spend since my last quota bag or go back to day 1 and give a six figure sum ?

How will mine / yours / your neighbours prespend help you get what you desire?
This! Everyone, every SA, every SM, and every store is different. There are “long” periods of time -over a year or more- that I haven’t been offered bags (not even non quota), then there has been an occasion where I was offered two quota bags (coveted sizes) in a 2 week period (an SO). I not a VIP, just buy items I like and not what is offered.

If you buy what you like-not to be offered a quota bag- the offers will come. The SA will know you aren’t there just for a bag. Happy shopping

I love that yucca green. Unpopular opinion - I believe Crevette would be a sought after colour if it had been called something else. It’s a very pretty peachy pink! Perhaps it’ll be reincarnated as pink fizz or something ;)

My unpopular opinion is that Hermes doesn't suit everyone and won't always make exactly what one wants or needs. That's why Horizon exists.
Depend on lifestyle, circumstances etc sometimes we just want bags which are really water resistant, capricious yet light, under the radar AND can be thrown around. We want to chuck our RTW in the washing machine and our dinnerware into the dishwasher without worries. So just choose only what works for you.
Also. If the relationship with your SA/ SM/ store/ brand/ after sales service etc has become toxic and looks unsalvageable, I would give the same advice to dear family and friends. Past a certain stage, it is pointless to invest more time, emotion or money into it. Then it's time to walk away and never look back.

I don’t like B25!

I have 1– it’s soo little and I feel dainty using it. I like my bags over my arm and feel that the b25 is mostly a handheld I am 5’3 (or 5’7 with heels) and I am a small size — still bag is small for me and do not ever want another one they size.

I agree! I have B25’s but won’t purchase anymore. B30 or 35 is what I need to suit my lifestyle. I’m same height as you too

sell it an make a huge killing
Ha! Great advice @WhiteBus, it’s a beautiful bag and I am a true Hermes hoarder- I feel like if sell any I am cheating on Hermes. it is croc- which was offered to me and it’s stunning - didn’t think 25 to 30 would be a big difference. I do love the bag (just not size) i think bc for work it’s not ideal. Great dinner bag.

No one says it will help to get them a bag, but at least people can decide if it’s worth for them to even start trying to get a bag if a person shop at same store or area. I spoke to someone who shop at the store where I just started shopping, and they said it’s used to be 1:1 pre spend but lately it’s more like 2:1 or 2.5:1 pre spend. It helped me to let go a hope of getting a bag in a year time frame considering my spending ability. I decided instead of trying a Paris and was lucky there. So I’m grateful for that person sharing their pre spend
JMO - I think you were very clever. You used that spend information which was specific to the boutique where you shop (the key phrase here) as an insight to setting your own realistic expectations and then developed an alternative strategy for getting a bag when you figured it was too costly/too long a wait (trying Paris).

This is one situation where you would not be cheating on Hermes.
You bought it in good faith to use it and have come to accept that it is not for you.
Therefore if you choose to sell it, it will be for a good reason - not flipping for quick profit.

Thank you for the wise and guilt free advise, but I couldn’t part with such a beautiful bag. I enjoy looking at it — funny but when I went to do an SO shortly after the b25, my sa was suggesting that I get a k25–telling me it is the most coveted size — it was a hard NO for me.

To be fair, I have a few bags that belonged to my grandmothers that I display. They make great "art"!

As far as Vert Fizz goes, to me it is reminiscent of the colour of a spider (not the arachnid kind but rather an appalling retro Aussie concoction - a scoop of ice cream is dropped into lemonade or another flavour of soft drink, which causes it to fizz up and turn an opaque creamy colour the shade of which varies depending which soft drink is used), so the fizzy name seems very apt!
