What’s your unpopular Hermes opinion?

Agree. I stopped shopping the boutique and purchased vintage resale exclusively when my first SA left. It was no longer fun. That hiatus lasted about many years and actually coincided with a long hiatus of years away from TPF lol. My unpopular opinion is if I had been treated half as badly as some members on H forum narrate, I would probably quit the brand.

@tinkerbell68, I’ve often wondered if there are designated bag areas in back of FSH: bags to offer regular clients; bags to offer walk ins; bags to offer lottery; bags to offer VIPs. And, a big sign over the most popular ones warning an SA, if you have to ask, the answer is no. Only half joking. I’m glad you got your orange 28K.
I agree with the bolded. I would have walked away a long, long time ago and never looked back.
Also. I know my FSH senior SA allocates bags to his team to offer particular clients. I have heard him on his phone. I'm also guessing some of my bag offers were assigned when he was unable to meet me personally.

On the other hand - and an unpopular opinion. Some of us (moi included) love H "crap".

Your friend could always choose to buy things she will enjoy; Hermes is a whole 'dept store' these days, and as it always was.

When something catches my eye from a brand, first thing I do is check out everything else they create/sell for a 360º. If I don't like the vibe, ranges, overall aesthetic it often puts me off (not always). It's a bit like investing in an expensive painting or art object, in addition to my plans for said piece, a lot depends on the artist's back catalogue, proven evolution of creativity, development of aesthetics and materials (+ politics) and future potential.

My UO is that is really is better to buy a QB (or any H bag) from a trusted reseller or H-lover friend if a person think all the rest is 'crap'.

Have to agree here - I also love "crap." :winkiss:

I use H trays to liven up smaller spaces as they are fun and whimsical, I have more Avalon blankets than I can count because I think they are beautiful and well made, & frankly our kids LOVE to cuddle up in them, I find their dishware to be beautiful and functional... I could go on.

My unpopular opinion is that the Della Cavalleria looks a little bit like a bottom in a thong... I only thought of this when I saw it in Mauve and the thought cannot be shaken off my mind. Actually... I don't know if it's an unpopular opinion but I needed to let this opinion out instead of wondering if it's just me...?:eek:

I def need to add some trays and trinkets to hold my jewelry and miscellaneous items around the house lol! We moved the coffee tables and side tables into storage until my youngest is done with the tripping and falling into tables stage  Cant wait to have my coffee tables out again with pretty H trays and decor:hbeat:

I can assure you, my bottom would not look like that in a thong (but I totally get what you say!).

I often ask myself that question - why do I shop the boutique in hope of a particular bag coming my way (may/may not/may never) when that bag may be available right now from a trusted seller? But my UO is I’m not actually being treated badly, I’m just too far down the pecking order. I get that, but what I don’t accept is that I should be lower in the pecking order than flippers, influencers and resellers. And I do feel for the SAs but I certainly don’t want to be lied to.

But someday, the corporate values of the brand and the heritage values of the house, always in tension, will come into conflict in a way that can’t be resolved and I for one will be (probably naively) hoping that the heritage values prevail.

My unpopular opinion: I love H blankets (Avalon and others) and buy them because they are super cosy and nicely designed (and made in the UK haha). I am always sad when Avalon is sneered at.
I genuinely like their 'crap' - I'm not familiar with luxury home accessories propositions elsewhere also busy so don't have time and patience to scan various (dedicated) brands for blankets, trays and tableware so Hermes comes very handy. Having said that, Hermes currently doesn't reciprocate my genuine liking for them as after purchasing all things I needed, I am unable to generate serious spend there to be noticed. Heyho.

Rebuild from scratch. On the bright side, you do have a piece of FJ that you love. Since it’s done, I would absolutely focus on the positives. If you decide that you don’t like other boutique offerings, do consider resale which can yield precisely what you want at your own timeframe and often costs less than prespend at a boutique. Your local boutique may also not have your particular piece of FJ in stock; stock at the airport is often quite different, and many of us do buy items we love wherever we can find them.
Once again, this. Perhaps naively, I’m sincerely at a loss as to why more people who don’t care for the ‘crap’ don’t follow this oft-suggested, sage advice. And ignore the advice in favor of throwing a tantrum and being rude at the boutique.

This may be more of an unpopular opinion but I’m not sure how to move it to that thread. Mods?
