He's not wrong!
Says she who's 1st Hermes bag purchase was Gold because it was a 'timeless safe' choice.
I love my bag but definitely want one in black that I think I'll use more.
On topic..
Unpopular opinion
I agree with your husband and feel the same about Etoupe

I’m with your DH on this one, and I would say my unpopular opinion is the “traditional” neutral colors (gold, etoupe, etain, and their shade families) just don’t do anything for me. Oops!

I totally get what he was trying to say, but that doesn't make the comparison to Aldo any less blasphemous :yucky::lol:

Things that I totally agree with but at the same time makes me feel like I’ve joined a cult:

“Everyone’s journey is different”

“Just buy what you love”

“I’m so grateful to even get what I received”

You mean “I’m so grateful to even get what I received paid five figures for”

Leading on from the above posts, it saddens me that Shopping at Hermes for many newer posters has become so riddled with angst about finding the right SA, spending in the right categories ,spend ratio, going to the boutique with the best inventory rather than the easiest boutique to visit geographically.
and dont get me started on the 'Should I accept this offer?' questions OR 'what colour bag should I buy?'.
I'm repeating myself here but shopping should for non essentials should be a form of recreation.
It should be enjoyable, relaxing even.
And If YOU dont know if you should buy that bag you've been offered HOW will we, a bunch of strangers know??
Colour is a personal thing.
A colour resonates with you and your wardrobe or it doesn't.
I wouldn't buy a big ticket item for personal use based on popular opinion.
I'd buy it based on MY opinion!!!!
I generally agree but in the US at least even buying basic items now requires an SA. My closest boutique literally has almost nothing in stock, I’m talking from shoes to shirts to plates. And they won’t even bother ordering for you unless you have an “in” or an SA who likes you or whatever.

I guess they don’t need the sales so what do they care (they must be selling plenty already to VIPs). But I guess my unpopular opinion is: I actually kind of get the “game” players. I can’t/won’t so I just only shop when I travel back to Europe to visit friends/family, but I still don’t get the judgment (not from you! Just in general) to those who love and desire Hermes enough to play the game here or in Asia. To each their own, it’s like people who stay up late and refresh for Taylor swift tickets: so what, they want to.

If my unpopular opinion has to be about Hermes only, let me add: I don’t get why they make ashtrays still. Keep the designs make them into jewelry trays or something, it’s 2023.

this is going to be OT but has smoking culture waned in France? Or Europe for that matter?

The metal saddle box looks like a street garbage can. I wouldn’t be surprised if a reverse image search of it would show garbage cans, and indeed it does. Much to my surprise, it’s cheaper to buy a Hermes trash can.

Ahhh I have the Hermes trash can! And now I can’t unsee the comparison! At least I saved a few bucks!!

I don’t visit France often and when I do it’s only Paris and a small city close to it, I’d say it’s less than before but not gone, in my limited experience. Scandinavia is where I have experience and yeah, smoking culture is waaaay lower, but they do a version of chewing tobacco it’s like a tiny teabag with nicotine in it that you put under your lip.

To attempt to stay on topic: I don’t like the Hermes orange tone Feu at all, and heard about how “classic” it is multiple times. No thanks, Hermes.

I live in Paris and smoking is way up and considered cool in the teen/college crowd, so, to stay on topic, I agree I’ve been surprised by the ashtrays for years, but now I see it’s just Hermes as always understanding that some things are eternal. (As someone who has never smoked, it’s a mystery to me but no judgment!)

Great point. I thought they may have been going for the "laundry basket with Bluetooth speaker capabilities" vibe.
