What’s your unpopular Hermes opinion?

I wonder the degree to which this opinion is unpopular, but I'm honestly tired of hearing (some) long-term Hermes/luxury lovers speaking negatively about younger people enjoying the brand...

Yes, there are people under 35 who ALSO GENUINELY love and can afford to shop with the brand. Please don't generalize us with SM influencers, and no, we're not "babies"!!! My gosh people can be so rude and unaware...

*Sighs and heats up a warm milk :giggle: jk lol

My latest possibly unpopular opinion is that there is too much gatekeeping and snobbery around whom a Hermes client should be like, or what an ideal Hermes client looks like, with people casting aspersions around how people may choose to fund their Hermes purchases, and where they buy their bags from. If someone chooses to, 1) forgo other perceived luxuries i.e. driving a fancier car, or eating at more expensive restaurants to be able to afford their bag, 2) sell one bag to purchase another, 3) buying from a reseller because they are impatient or they want to avoid the H games, that is frankly none of our business.

As long as they are not obtaining their purchases through illegal means, how someone chooses to prioritise their spending is really up to them.

Yes, I remember years ago people where giving each other tips on this forum how to save for a bag. No one was judging. The atmosphere was more supportive and relaxed.

Preach sister! The condescension and snobbery is ridiculous at times and worse than anything I've ever experienced in an actual Hermes store.

My unpopular opinion is that Influencers purposefuly dining at a posh restaurant and/or coffeeshop (where they always are at) so they can flaunt their ootd, H bags and VCA/ cartier stack. Not the other way around where people go to restaurants for the gastronomic and total experience as the motive, then dress accordingly.

Unpopular opinion about youtube influencers making videos which are click baits. First of all: the video link shows a picture of lots of H boxes (which are most likely empty to begin with). And worse, they split the videos into three long videos. I mean c’mon get to the point! I always scroll to the part i need answers to and appreciate if youtubers tag the time stamp. I sometimes put a comment: “unboxing starts at (timestmap). You’re welcome.”——— to benefit someone else. Coz we aint got no time for that lol

On youtube I also click: dont receive notification of posts from this person. I dont subscribe to this person, why are they popping up on my youtube feed.

I would actually love a thread like that!

I even have an above then average income but cannot just spend 10k or more like that. I would love to have a thread where we support each other in our journey to save up for such a purchase

I would like to sincerely thank all the many many members here who tirelessly and with infinite patience share and provide and indulge us with their knowledge, answer our questions, quite sometimes the same questions and new variations over and over again on so many threads.:flowers:
Yet they hardly benefit from it themselves.
They spend so much time again and again to help us with their experiences, which really touches me. :hbeat:
They wouldn't have to do that, they could shop at Hermès and others with pleasure and in peace and keep their knowledge to themselves.

Though I do understand: It may be frustrating for some not to get the most coveted bags in the world right away, which is certainly one reason why it is only in the last 3 years or so that so many new bags are being "flipped".
Unfortunately, another certainly unpopular fact: luxury goods are only luxury goods and can only hold their price if they are not immediately and/or easily available to everyone.
Who would otherwise pay these IMPO completely insane reseller prices.
And please allow one more ranting: who would buy a ca 10K bag when everyone on the street is wearing it. Wouldn't all cheaper - and often good quality - bags then also charge these prices. It's all business. I doubt that any company would voluntarily sell much cheaper than it could.

(By the way: this forum is open for everyone to benefit from the sharing members here - around the world -, not only to devoted and interested members.)

Thank you so much: e.g. dear @papertiger and - among many many others e.g. @acrowcounted, @periogirl28, @QuelleFromage ...:
sorry - really think I should mention @880 too and still many more...

Sweetie.

Unpopular opinions: I think the bag charms ruin the beautiful classy look of the bag. Especially the Poodle one gives me the ick.

A lot of special order bags look hideous to me. Some colours just don‘t work together. There is a reason Hermès doesn’t produce certain colour ways in their regular line.

Cargo Birkins are overpriced.

When I was shown the Evelyne PM the SA said the correct way to wear it is actually with the H side toward you and the pocket side outward, which makes sense actually with the way the snap closure of the pocket sits.
The way you described it is how I actually wear/use my E. But my other "unpopular H opinion" is (and this is not directly aimed at you..I am just speaking in general terms)----after one purchases an Evelyne, she can wear it however/whatever way she wants to.

Oh totally! I was responding to another user’s unpopular opinion that part of the reason she doesn’t like the Evelyne was because of the logo, so I was just saying actually wearing the logo inward is the actual the way Hermes designed the bag to be used, so it works out.

I wear the bag both ways depending on where I’m going and what I’m wearing.

Yes! I mentioned that same thing in this thread before that the rodeos take away from luxuriousness of the bag. I think they look childish, not whimsical. (I'm ducking as I write this).

And I think people feel like they have to make their SO "different" and sometimes it just doesn't work. I've seen some beautiful SOs, but also some "meh" SO bags.

The Gigi charm kinda creeps me out
