What’s your unpopular Hermes opinion?

I read this and had to go try on my Birkin 30. I’m home bored out of my mind  And it fits over my shoulder. I didn’t think I could even wear it that way lol.

Hope you're on the mend and playing with all of your H items is helping you feel better! I've tried wearing my B35 over the shoulder but not my 30. Hmmm, will have to try now.

Unpopular opinion - I don't like the sweaters and others pieces of clothing that have the big "Hermes, made in France" on the back. I don't like being a walking billboard. And I'm not really a fan of the jungle love line of clothing.

Thanks so much @loh . You totally inspired me. Yup, playing with Birkin as I type:lol: I posted a picture in the action thread.

I think I may have mentioned this before
BUT my unpopular opinion is that I do wish Hermes would scale the width of shoulder straps to better suit the size of the bag.
I think any Kelly for instance thats larger than a 28 needs a wider strap proportionate to the bag.
Ditto the 24/24 in a 29 really cries out for a wider strap that can be adjusted or have a wider 'shoulder pad' like that on the Jypsiere.

My (could be very) unpopular opinion is K 32 and up shouldn't be worn on the shoulder but carried in hand. :dog:

I have seen women wearing the B 35 over the shoulder, but it bends the back of it after a while. I love the look of a B 35.
Oh really? I've never seen anyone carry a Birkin over their shoulder. I was just goofing around yesterday lol because I've been stuck at home.
I am really happy to know it actually fit over my shoulder if I need my hands free for a few minutes, but not sure if I would walk around with it that way?

Shopping especially at Hermes should be fun and not stressful! Thinking you can’t buy on vacation, online, or at another store without the irrational fear of being « excommunicated » by a SA and store is beyond me. The story on the NYC thread about being called by their SA after ordering something on vacation is so unnecessarily awkward. Forget H fairies maybe there is a Big H Brother? There is nothing enjoyable and luxurious for SAs and stores to make people think this.

Since that was my post I feel it’s necessary to point out that in my short four years of working with that SA, I had gotten five SOs, high demand quota bags (kelly minis and B/K 25s) each season, and basically any other reasonable item, bags included, that I asked for and never spent even 1:1. If the trade off for that is being strictly loyal, I’m okay with that, but there was never any “irrational fear of being excommunicated”

For the record, I didn’t actually buy the sandals in the vacation store; the SA put them as ”an order” under my account, which is basically their wishlist system to hold items when they arrive to the store in a delivery. My home SA was pointing out that he could facilitate fulfilling that “wish” rather than waiting for the remote store if I wanted. The context for me sharing that experience was that something was put on my profile at another store and without any prompting somehow my home SA saw it, which was the circumstance that the person I was replying to was curious about.

There are many routes to being successful shopping at Hermes. My aim when providing advice here on tpf is to direct posters in a manner that I believe will get them the coveted item they want as quickly, easily, and inexpensively as possible. Please don’t project negative feelings on to my shopping experience, where there are none.

Would have to agree that this is what I dislike about this brand. If you truly love this brand, and you're traveling and find something you love that your store may not have, why not buy it? Why think you're going to lose out on a QB just for buying something that is offered to you?

Anyway, I dislike it, and yet I play the game. I'm after one more QB. After that, I will be loyal to SAs at different stores and not necessarily one store. I want to enjoy shopping without worrying about chasing a bag some day.

Unpopular opinion: Stop comparing your H experience with influencers. “So & so shops at my boutique and they got a QB with little to no spend and I’m at 25:1 with no QB in sight”.

The amount of privacy these influencers give up to even be popular enough to be on H’s radar is not worth it. Putting themselves in harms way by sharing their possessions on the web, having their full names and sometimes family members names, their addresses etc dug up is not worth any ease of getting a QB ever IMO.

That's what stopped me from buying a Birkin 35 and why I prefer my Garden Party 36. I can comfortably get the GP 36 over my shoulder when I am not wearing a coat or heavy sweater, and it is big enough to carry everything I need for work and daily carry. I don't like the JPG at all.
When I have to carry a bunch of papers and books, plus a laptop, I almost always end up with my Garden Party 36. I love that bag---it gets more use than almost anything I have.
